Old man Rykros was a VERY unlucky man. Years ago, he was an all-powerful mage, with a wonderful son who was defying all logic by learning magic when it was said that he COULDN'T. He had a beautiful wife, Maria, who cared for him like no other woman could. He had everything he could have ever wanted, and more. He crafted magical items daily, and sold them for outrageous profits. His mansion was huge, even by mansion standards.
However, he lost everything. Julford, practicing a spell inside, brought everything Rykros had worked on down in a giant blaze. Maria died in the blaze, and many of his wondrous items were lost as well. In his rage, he nearly killed his son, and left the boy for dead.
In one night, his life turned into a hellhole. But he had the chance to build his empire back. All he had to do was make some more magic items, and sell those for money. But his grief over his wife and son caused him to worry so much, he did not notice that his memory was slipping. He'd take two hours to write down a spell, then not remember what it did. Attempting to cast it was equally futile, as he couldn't focus well enough to actually read it correctly; words would be skipped, or repeated, and disatrous effects would happen.
So, Rykros continued to have nothing. The only item he managed to create was a single silver staff, which extended. He couldn't remember what else it could do, if anything.
Eventually, the old man moved into an abandoned shack on Noctum's Streets. It is here that his story begins. Or ends? Who knows.
~
Rykros was a mess, just as he always was these days. His beard was stained from whiskey, and traces of crumbs could be seen throughout. His clothes were tattered, the dark greens now paled and almost completely bleached out. He slept in a corner of the the single-room shack, haunted by the faces of his lost son and wife.
An orb of light appeared in the center of the room, flooding the run-down shack with light and awakening Rykros. He instinctively grabbed his staff, though his hands barely had the strength to lift it these days. It extended to a length of five feet, and he leaned on it to stand.
Out from the light walked two figures, both visions of beauty. One wore all pink, the other a light blue. Each wore a dress that started across the top of their chest, covering their breasts, and ran down their body to their knees, yet allowed for easy movement. They wore what almost appeared to ballet shoes, yet were obviously sturdy enough to provide support anytime when walking. The pink one wore a leather belt which housed almost three dozen knives, while the other one carried nothing extra.
Rykros didn't recognize the one in pink at all, but recognition of the blue one caused him to drop his staff in surprise. "M-M-M..." He couldn't say it. It was impossible. How could she be alive?
The one in blue walked over towards Rykros, each step her face becoming less blurred by the light. By the time she reached Rykros, he was in tears, sobbing with his head on the ground. She kneeled down, lightly placing her fingers against his cheek. He looked up, to see her face yet again. The sobbing came back, even more powerful. He was happy. After so long, God had given him another chance at happiness. Maria, the angel in blue, had come back to him.
Maria stood, holding Rykros' staff in her hand. "Okay, let's go," she said to the one in pink, and they walked out of the shack.
Rykros just stared as the only woman he ever loved walked out of his life. There was no way to describe the pain it put his heart through.
The two angels walked away from his shack, staff in hand. Rykros sat inside the shack, sobbing.

From down the street, the drunken low growls of some sort of wild beast could be heard. The sound was like a grizzlies breath as it approached it's prey for lunch as it got closer and closer. However, if one were to look out the window, they would note that it was only old Bones McKinley, with a bottle of whiskey stumblin' down the street.
But Bones heard something that surprised him enough to make him stop, as his bad hearing perked up. Something he'd never heard in Noctum. Crying. In a shack! Someone needed the help of old Bones McKinley! He rushed -more stumbled- up the hill to the old shack, where the sound of the crying nearly crippled him in his hangover.
As he stood up, covering his ears to look into the window of the old shack, he saw that it was a man, about his age, balding and bawling all over. He needed a drink. Bones limped to the door, coughing as his lung cancer caught up with him, a bit of blood landing on the ground as he knocked on the door.

Rykros looked up, and his sobbing stopped for a moment. He saw a man who obviously had it worse than himself. A man who was beaten even worse by life.
Yet, Rykros still felt no pity for the man; only himself. Rykros once had everything he ever wanted, and lost it; likely, this bum of a man never had anything. After a brief silence, Rykros struggled to his feet. He was better than this, after all.

Julford entered the streets of Noctum, his entourage in tow. After all the random running and senseless adventures he was sure they had, they made it to Noctum. Unfortunately, he couldn't actually remember his adventures, but that wasn't a new experience for him.
Today would be a good day. He could feel it.

Kuxx, Bejoc, and Zofin had been following Julford without even really thinking. They now regretted this decision. "Where are we?" Bejoc asked his companions. "It looks like a new city." Kuxx said.

Jyorn and Hana hiked up the hill, disturbed by the sound of the crying and the crowd gathering around it. "What do you suppose is going on?" Jyorn grunted and followed with his usual resigned air.

"Whaddaya want!" Rykros snapped. It was less a question, and more a 'Get offa my property!' statement.
~
Julford saw a run-down shed. At it's door, a man stood, looking inside. The man was obviously beaten by life, and Julford couldn't help but feel sorry for him.
Julford ran up to Bones, though where he stood block Rykros' line of sight from inside the house. "Hello good sir. You look like you could use a good meal. Would you like to join me and my friends in town for some lunch? My treat."

Evan ran in after julford, looking upon bones, and wondering if there was any point to all this.
He thought of his first encounter with julford, and promptly picked the little fuzzball up "I'm sorry sir, my freind here is just a bit curious of things, he won't bother you none." he put his hand over julfords mouth, also weary of the things he might say.
he wished he had at least, in truth , he had tripped over a rock, his skirt flying upward and flashing his underpants which sadly, were very feminine, he had spent the the remaining time cowering behind a very pleasing trashcan.
well, at least he looked like a girl, nothing more embracing then a panty shot in an cartoon, he thought.

Bones looked up startled as Julford, who was extremely short ran up to him. His mind cried midget, until he was offered lunch. "Lunch? Yer one o' them fancy eatin folks. Sounds good ta me. Thank ye kindly." He said, taking a sip of his drink.

Rykros heard MORE voices outside. He was starting to lose his temper. Considering the events he'd just witnessed, he'd likely be able to work off a lot of the stress he had. "WHAT ARE YOU all... doing..." He was dumbstruck. Held in the arms of one of the trespassers, sat Julford.
Julford looked happily towards the grumpy old carrot. Pulling Natalie's hand off of his mouth, he said "Why, hello thar," with an ear-to-ear smile. You could hear the misspelling, by the way.
"...J-Julford?" Rykros asked, hands trembling as he reached for the moogle.
Julford cocked his head. "Do I know you?" he asked.
Rykros just stared. Again, his hopes had been shattered. His son didn't remember him. Still, he could salvage this. He wouldn't let this opportunity escape him. He wouldn't push Julford away again. He wouldn't screw up again.
Shaking his head for a moment, he responded "No, no, I don't think you do... It's been a long time, so I'm not too surprised that you don't remember me. The name's Rykros."
Julford somehow managed to smile even more. "I DO remember that name! I'm afraid I don't remember why, though... My brain is kinda screwy." He knocked on his heads a couple times to demonstrate the fact. The world blinked everytime he did, almost like changing the channels on an old TV. When he stopped, the world was perfectly normal, instead of twisted by his insanity.
"So, who's up for lunch?" Julford asked. "I'm buying!"

Kuxx had taken the hat from Bejoc, and not being one for subtlety or courtesy decided to barge in on the conversation."Wait. What's going on here? Who is that?" Kuxx said, pointing to Bones. "Who's that?" He pointed to Rykros. "And who are them!?" He waved his hand in a vague motion towards everyone else. He was angry that he fell out of the loop this fast.

"Friends! And I'm byuying them lunch!" Julford responded happily, slipping out of Evan's grip. He slid down to the ground, and pointed in a direction. "I think the restaurant's this way!"
Julford began marching in the direction. Little did he know, it was the same direction thay had just enterwed town from.
Rykros sighed. Julford never was too bright. "Town, and all the restaurants, are that way." He pointed towards the center of the city, in the Entertainment District.
"...Oh. That way, then!" Julford's happy demeanor would NOT be deterred when there was food concerned.

Evan ran after julford, quite hungry, he adjusted the school girl top he had on and dusted himself off and followed after. He felt something in the pit of his skirt that he should eat as much as he could to.

Willy was taken aback at the apparent arrivals, since very one seemed to know each other....and were all sober, for the most part. He didn't know about the short one. He didn't like the huge gathering at all. People made him nervous, and this many people arriving was starting a small panic attack. To cure it, he drained his bottle of alcohol and lit up a cigarette, knowing is old and frail body would curse him later.
From somewhere on his person, he withdrew another bottle and took a swig. "So. Lunch?" Bones might feared people, but not free food.

"Indeed!" Julford practically shouted, pointing into the sky. He pointed to Rykros. "Old man! We request your assistance to the place with the fewdstuffs so that I may partake in their dilectabiliti...niss...ity." His brain stalled for a moment before picking back up. "To the fewd!"
Rykros shrugged, though inwardly he was jumping for joy. Jul had always called him 'Old man' before; it had been a joke of sorts between them.
Turning around, Rykros started walking. It was little more than a hobble, but it was something, at least. "Okay, follow me," he ordered, turning his head back towards the others. "I'm know a good restaurant, so we're going there for lunch. Don't like it? Tough." He continued to hobble, Julford following behind him faithfully.
