The movie I Am Legend starring Will Smith is probably up there among my favorite films. I liked this movie so much because of the concept behind it--not so much the movie itself. My reasoning behind it is this: The ending is too abrupt and vague. Plus, I've read the plot-summary on Wikipedia of the novel-version of this story and I definitely would've liked to see more ties to the book. However, the changes that were made were acceptable (except for the ending).

I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone, and I especially encourage you to buy it because there are some pretty cool clips in the special features portion. It reminds me of the Animatrix if you are familiar with that. (If not, I suggest you purchase that on DVD as well.)

But anyway, back to the movie at hand. I Am Legend.

Things I really liked:

Camera Angles - A lot of times, the scariest bits of movies are the parts where you can't see anything. When Will Smith's character is in moments of intense-action the camera is often situated so that the viewer can see just enough to know what they're looking at, but not enough to know if there are spooks around the corner.

Music - Bob Marley. I really liked the irony in that, and also the sad piano theme that played throughout the film. And even when there was no music playing in the movie, it fit because it made the viewer hold their breath and kept me on the edge of my seat (quite literally).

Things I didn't like:

Ending - Too abrupt and not detailed enough for me. The movie seriously could've gone on for another hour if the writers tried.

Random Nit-picks - During one of Will Smith's character flash-backs a 'vombire' runs up against their SUV and gets blood on the window. Later in the movie, the blood is gone. I know, sue me for being a jerk. But it just subtracts from the movie for me.

There you have it. I Am Legend. It's out in stores now and I suggest if you have the money to go invest in a copy, pop a bag of popcorn and enjoy this film on your couch like the fat, lazy American you are.
