Title: An Enterprising Girl
Fiori Fervor - May 29, 2009 02:42 AM (GMT)
Savitri walked through one of the many squares in the city. It was still somewhat disputed whether Nether City even had a central square, there were just so many and the city was so vast, it was hard to tell. Anyways, she came to this one because it was one of the poorer ones, and shops were going on sale. She was hoping to buy one using her meager earnings and perhaps some loan money. She stopped in front of a seemingly derelict shop, one that seems to have been on sale for quite some time now. She smiled, red lips curling slightly on her pale face. It was perfect. The interior was dark, even at the height of day, and the wind was blowing eerily. "A creepy shop" the Shade girl murmured, brushing her dark hair out of her even blacker eyes. "for a creepy owner." she stepped closer, black pants and shirt flowing loosely on her slender limbs. Many thought she was scary looking, mostly because of her jet black eyes.

Tikal struggled to keep her backpack on, as it kept threatening to fall off. She and Savitri hadn't seen each other for awhile, despite Tikal's offer for somewhere to stay.
Tikal looked more 'clean' than she had been when they met, as she had for the time being gotten killing out of her system with the help of her kids, who were with her right now.
Turning a corner, she spotted Savitri looking into a vacant shop window. Smiling, she trotted towards her, movement visible in her bag.
Fiori Fervor - May 29, 2009 04:06 AM (GMT)
Savitri glanced to the side as she heard the rustling, smiling as she saw Tikal approaching her. "Hey Tikal." she said, waving. It had been a while since she had last seen her friend, and a lot had happened since then. She want sure whether to tell her about Herro or not, especially since nothing was officially going on between them, but she was so excited about it she felt like she was going to burst. She glimpsed movement in the bag and raised an eyebrow. "Whatcha got there?"
Redterror117 - May 29, 2009 08:35 PM (GMT)
Tikal gently placed the bag down. "You'll see." she replied with a small smile, as the bag began to jerk around uncoordinated. Finally the flap flew open, and six miniature versions of Tikal fell out of the bag, toppled. The moment they saw Savitri they squeaked, rushing forwards with arm-wings open, and tackle-hugged her.
Fiori Fervor - May 29, 2009 08:39 PM (GMT)
Savitri laughed as the little kids grabbed onto her, crawling over her. "Theyre adorable!" she said with a smile, hugging and petting them when they crawled into reach. They were hyper, as all small kids were, but so cute! "These are your kids then?" she asked Tikal, surprised to find that the girl was a mother. She always seemed so childish and naive, it was hard to picture her as a parent.
Redterror117 - May 29, 2009 08:45 PM (GMT)
Tikal smiled and nodded, looking as one of the kids clung to her shoulder. "Yep, though it is rather tiring." she replied a bit sheepishly, knowing that the kids always wanted to play, and they were almost impossible to wear out, except after they have had a meal.
Fiori Fervor - May 29, 2009 08:47 PM (GMT)
Savitri giggled as they crawled over her, not minding them too much. They would get quite annoying after a while, but for the moment they were too cute. "Who is the father?" she had never seen a man around Tikal, and the girl had never talked about one. She also couldnt see a normal guy wanting to...be with a creature like Tikal, so he had to be something special.
Redterror117 - May 29, 2009 08:52 PM (GMT)
Tikal suddenly frowned at the question and shook her head, slumping down to the ground. "He was a war angel... named Corbin... but he's dead." she replied rather bluntly, the child that had been on her arm sliding off with the shift. "Got killed while working, and I didn't even get a chance to say goodbye before he left..."
Fiori Fervor - May 29, 2009 08:56 PM (GMT)
Savitri's good mood vanished and she slowly stepped close to her friend. "I'm sorry." she said quietly, hugging the girl tightly. It had to be terribly hard for her to go on after that, especially having to watch the kids alone now. She had just met Herro, and she already couldnt stand to lose him. Having children with someone, and then having them die...no one should have to go through anything like that.
Redterror117 - May 29, 2009 09:10 PM (GMT)
Tikal nodded and smiled weakly, though the thought still hurt her rather badly. "Thanks...but nothing's going to bring him back." she sighed, resting her head in her wings. The kids saw their mother rather depressed, and let out unhappy whines, immediately moving towards her and piking her relentlessly.
Fiori Fervor - May 29, 2009 09:21 PM (GMT)
"But....he is an angel..." Savitri said slowly. She was pretty sure that angels were supposed to be able to come back to life, so why was Corbin dying a big deal? Wouldnt he just come back? She hugged Tikal to her, trying to comfort her as best she could. It must have happened a while ago for her to be dealing with it this well, she knew she wouldnt be handling it this calmly.
Redterror117 - May 29, 2009 09:26 PM (GMT)
"If he did come back then he would've returned, but he never did. I know it didn't make sense when I first heard it, but I can't think of anything else that would explain everything." she sighed, rubbing her head as the thought came back to her once again. The kids continued to poke her relentlessly, not wanting to give up.
Fiori Fervor - May 29, 2009 09:30 PM (GMT)
"I see...." Savitri said sadly, stepping back and turning to face the store once again. She didnt know of anything else she could do to help Tikal out, but she still had some business to take care off. She walked up and read a small sign on the side of the building that gave her an address to go to if she wanted to buy the property. "Would you like to come with me?" she asked, figuring that the girl could do with some company.
Redterror117 - May 29, 2009 09:32 PM (GMT)
Tikal nodded silently, pulling herself up while the kids weighed her down. She grabbed the backpack they had originally been sleeping in, carefully placing them all inside before closing up the bag, slinging it over her shoulder. "Let's go then." she replied, wiping a tear from her eye.
Fiori Fervor - May 29, 2009 09:49 PM (GMT)
Savitri lead Tikal through the streets to a house a few blocks away. It was pretty poor looking and as run down as the store itself had been. She was a little hesitant about entering the place, but she really wanted to buy that shop. "Come on." she said lightly, hiding her trepidation from the others as she walked towards the door.
Redterror117 - May 29, 2009 09:54 PM (GMT)
Tikal nodded, looking up only to see the direction she was heading. She didn't like the looks of this place at all, but didn't want to dampen Savrtri's hopes of buying that store.
The bag began to shift and move again, the kids becoming restless being cooped up.
Fiori Fervor - May 29, 2009 11:15 PM (GMT)
Savitri walked up to the door and knocked loudly, taking a step back and waiting with a smile. She was nervous, but she didnt want to show it. When the door opened suddenly in front of her, she practically jumped out of her skin.
"What do you want?" the gruff and unwashed man at the door said, looking her up and down with a frown on his face. She didnt like the gleam in his eye, and one of her hands slid inside her sleeve and grasped the hilt of a dagger.
Redterror117 - May 29, 2009 11:16 PM (GMT)
Tikal jumped slightly as well, but not as much, as she wasn't necessarily paying attention to what was going on. She happened to be more concerned with the kids, who were trying to escape her bag right now and go wander about, but this wasn't the best time or place.
Fiori Fervor - May 29, 2009 11:26 PM (GMT)
"I am here to buy the shop in the square to the west." Savitri said calmly, though she was very wary of the man. He was grim and seemed uncaring, as though life meant little to him. It was a disturbing notion, that someone might not care about their own lives, especially since that meant they likely didnt care about other's either. "I have the money."
The man suddenly smiled and stepped outside. "Oh really? Well hand that over miss." he said, extending a grubby hand out to receive the cash.
Slowly, she handed over the money, a bag of gold that was bigger than her head. It was a small amount for the size and location of the shop, but still all that she had.
Redterror117 - May 29, 2009 11:43 PM (GMT)
Tikal's attempt to keep the kids in the bag began to fail, as one of the youngest of the children chewed a hole in the bottom of the bag, tumbling out. The child spotted the big lumpy bag, wondering if there was candy inside. With there being only one way to find out, the child reached up while sitting on the ground, wings fluttering as if it wanted to hold the bag.
Fiori Fervor - May 30, 2009 01:48 AM (GMT)
The man snatched the bag of money from her and laughed. "Thanks girl, now get out of Here." with that he turned and walked back into his house, slamming the door behind him. Savitri stared at the closed door, mouth open, then glared as she pulled two daggers from within her loose clothing and stormed up to the house. "I suggest you return my money or give me the deed to the store." she called, receiving an unclear but obviously disparaging response.
Redterror117 - May 30, 2009 01:50 AM (GMT)
Tikal sighed, scooping up the child, who still had her arms out, though now at nothing. "Need any help?" she asked, a head sticking out of the tear at the bottom of the bag. Eventually the child in her arm calmed down, seeing the weapons and squeaking in fear.
Fiori Fervor - May 30, 2009 01:53 AM (GMT)
"I think I have it." Savitri said with a brief and harsh smile, stabbing one dagger into the crease between the door and the frame. She jammed it downwards, breaking apart the lock as she kicked it open. "You asked for this." she called, storming into the house with murder in her black eyes. She was a nice enough girl most of the time, but her black rage was also one of her famous traits.
Redterror117 - May 30, 2009 01:54 AM (GMT)
Tikal nodded and sat down, the sky rumbling overhead. She placed the frightened girl back into the bag, holding her feathered wing over the hole as she placed in her 'lap', not wanting the kids to see or hear what was going on inside as Savitri took care of things by herself.
Fiori Fervor - May 30, 2009 02:13 AM (GMT)
Savitri stepped back outside a few minutes later, wiping two bloody daggers off on a strip of shirt she had acquired from somewhere. She had both the bag of gold and the deed now. "Got it." she said cheerfully, happy that she had gotten the shop for free now. She wished the man hadnt tried to rob her like that, but it had turned out for the best for her in the end.
Redterror117 - May 30, 2009 02:19 AM (GMT)
Tikal nodded and smiled, the sky rumbling yet again. "Should we get inside somewhere?" she asked, not wanting to have the kids get stuck in the storm, as they were terrified of thunder and lightning. "Do you want to go back to the new store, or my home?"
Fiori Fervor - May 30, 2009 02:29 AM (GMT)
"The store is hardly fit shelter." Savitri said with a cheerful smile. "Where do you live anyways?" she had never thought to ask before, it had never really mattered. Her shop was run down and broken though, the ceiling probably leaked all over the place, so the only good option was really Tikal's place.
Redterror117 - May 30, 2009 02:32 AM (GMT)
"Coven. It shouldn't be too far from here." she replied, lifting the bag up in both of her arms before wandering off towards the north, where tall towers could be seen in the distance. The only way she knew how to even get there was by the towers, so if she didn't see them she would be lost.
Fiori Fervor - May 30, 2009 05:21 AM (GMT)
"Alright then." Savitri said with a smile, following Tikal. "We should hurry there before it starts to rain harder." even as she spoke the rain started to come down heavier. It was the kind of karma that was only supposed to happen to....everyone else. Like being struck by lightning or attacked by a shark, you never thought it was going to happen to you.
Redterror117 - May 30, 2009 05:24 AM (GMT)
She nodded, hurrying down the street and struggling with the bag, following the streams of water as the alley ended, and she took another alley that headed towards the tower. It would only be a few minutes, but in the miserable weather it would seem like an eternity instead.
Fiori Fervor - May 30, 2009 05:27 AM (GMT)
Savitri sighed but smiled as the storm grew more intense. She loved nothing more than the rain, especially since she and Herro had met in a storm. It was so calming and cheering to her, she wished it would rain all the time. Wetness aside, she was enjoying herself, and she would dry quickly enough once they got there. The Shade followed Tikal through the streets, not in as much of a hurry as the mutant seemed to be, but not wanting to slow her down.
