I've got the 80GB version, wich has not PS2 compatibility, they dont sell the 60GB version anymore, wich was an limited edition, well thats what they told me in the GameMania, MediaMarkt, Free Record Shop, Xtra Zone & Carrefour (lol), I paid mine 390€ and that limited edition costed 599€, well its bummer got lots of PS2 games i still often played, like MGS 3, RE4, Smackdown vs Raw 2009.
Atm i got a few games: Fifa 08 & Little Big Planet (were in the PS3 package), TNA Wrestling, MGS4, Tom Clancy's: End War & Heavenly Sword, but damn those PS3 games are expensive, RE5 cost 70€, all those games i got atm are platinum and costs around 25€.
Bout the game, I am not far atm, didnt played that much. But it is in the Middle East, a few years from now in the future (i think 2 a 3 yrs), snake is damn old & retired (but u know how it goes, one last mission ), mission to eliminate Liquid (u know Liquid Snake from Metal Gear Solid 1 on psx), its gd till now, u are in the middle of a war between the local militia (arabs) & mpc's (merc's armies) so u have to be very cautious because its still a stealth mission and they are fighting like everywere in every ally, street, building etc, the rest i still have to find out myself.
I just started with Sons of Liberty (PS2). I'm having a hard time, since this is the first time I'm playing an MGS game and the controls are just so damn hard.
Anyway, I'm on the tanker, just kicked Olga <some Russian name> 's ass. Now I'm on my way downstairs to get past some explosives.
I already played a part as Raiden, but started a new game when I found out I didn't get the tanker level with the options I choose at the beginning. But damn, that Raiden is a dumbass. He adds a whole new dimension to the word 'rookie'.
I'm thinking about buying the first MGS from the NA PSN store together with Silent Hill soon. And perhaps MGS4 aswell (not from PSN btw).

DO IT mgs kicks ass, just finished mgs4 yesterday I have mgs on psone aswell, gonna replay it on ps3 too, and I have mgs2 on pc fantastic games ^^ the only thing I regret is never having played mgs3, since I don't have a ps2 also, raiden is a fucking rookie in mgs2, but in mgs4 he's the definition of awesome
I haven't played 3 either, but I don't think you're missing out much. It's set before the MGS games aswell as the two Metal Gear games (haven't played these either). So a prequel to the entire series.
Oh and btw, Snake is obviously based on Snake Plissken from John Carpenter's Escape from New York (played by Kurt Russel). That's awesome! Snake also calls himself Iroqois Plissken (or something) in MGS2.

i have MGS3 on ps2, its the best of all, mgs4 comes near 3 but 3 is the best, the only one i didnt played is SoL and the psp games, wich comes alot of info from in mgs4
I just finished the part with Snake on the tanker. Ocelot stole the Metal Gear (which reminded me of a Pokemon, lol) and Snake's fate is... unknown. Now I'm playing as Raiden.

Damn, I love this game (MGS2). Raiden isn't much of a noob anymore (quite the opposite), so many plot twists. I'm near the end now (I think) on Arsenal Gear, and the colonel is freaking out. He just ordered me to turn off my console because it's just a video game. Loool.

I'm expecting lot's of mindfucks. But seriously, I love the game. For the same reason I love Silent Hill: the story (both Konami games, of course). It feels like a movie.
I'm definitely getting MGS4 soon. But since its called "Guns of the Patriots" I take it it's about the Patriots? I've also downloaded MGS1 for PC. Already started with it (but I got pwned by some guys).
Oh, and didn't MGS4 have multiplayer?
