Well, super suggested just before the old board went kaput that we make a new division between Heavy and Middle. Basically, Heavy fields have become more and more evil with every passing season (this one being... quite representative of the trend), to the point where it could compete with Godlike fields in terms of sheer power being thrown about, so this will attempt to separate the "solid" Heavies from the "evil" ones.
This idea splits the current DL Heavy and Middle into three: 4.00 - 4.50 3.50 - 4.00 3.00 - 3.50 The topmost division will be the crop of people who dominate Heavy right now - the Ledes, Steiners, Emilies, and Lulus. The middle will be a more "traditional" Heavy, with the interesting but not quite overpowered people, and the bottomost would be the traditional Middle. This would obviously require lots of work (number-crunching to make old rankings fit with new borders, a whole new division to write for) but it could be good if we got around them. Sounds like a good idea, though, maybe we should do it looking somthing more like this:
Don't have number ideas yet, so excuse me Evil Heavies, and those staggering on the border of God Like The Middling heavies to High Middles (High Middles being people like Rune and Demi) The Lower end of Middle (basically, traditional Middle, people who did not get forced into middle from Heavy thanks to the new Heavy Standard) If that's what you meant, well yeah, then I obviously agree. Just the shear size of Heavy and Middle makes me think they deserve to split up |

I agree, it is a good idea. Heavy and Middle are too big, anyway - we ought to mix things up a bit.

Akin to the old idea of a 'demi-god' division, then. I like the idea in theory, but writing 5 divisions + bonus matches would be quite the task. I mean, I've never done such work, so I wouldn't want to just say "hey, let's make more of it!!"
So, in closing... I'm undecided. -------------------- ...then one morning you wake up and realize "I went to sleep less than 3 hours ago. Lousy sleep patterns"

I don't think it's needed, or even that good an idea.
The problem right now is that the divisions are still settling and reforming effectively from the ranking change. To be honest, most of these last seasons are merely the result of it - people are moving up and down to suit their true rank now. Or something. And secondly, I'm not sure we need a bigger work load right now. EDIT - I'll fill this out in detail later. I'm getting a headache. |

The idea has some merit, as it also gives those who have trouble making it in godlike somewhere to go when they get downgraded where they won't totally overpower everyone around them.
In execution, though, it seems too awkward to me. Perhaps I'm just too used to the way things are to change, but I rather like how the DL's organized now. Yeah, middle and heavy have more people than the other two divisions, but that's unavoidable in any situation--just the law of averages coming into play. Four divisions breaks things up adequately for me. -------------------- The Kyaro Army's 4th Infantry Division:

This was Elfboy's idea, not mine. I just threw it out last night, to get people's minds off of the recent... issues we've had.
It's slightly different than GH's old Demi God idea. For one, that was mostly a new top heavy divison. (Super godlike..). This idea is more about splitting heavy up. -------------------- Luca's White Wolves

I've been thinking of something like this for a while. There are a few characters who are decent, but they might not be able to take some of the other characters in Heavy (that is, the Heavy fields that we choose, since they tend to be particularly nasty). I dunno.

I dunno, doesn't seem like we really need a new division. That and the fact that, like Cmdr King, I do too little work on the DL to be gung-ho about multiplying the amount of work the dedicated folks do.

First, we need to fix our numbers. Since we have Godlikes below 4.5, heavies below the heavy bench mark, etc. THEN we can start thinking of dividing up the ranks by the numbers.

I have mixed feelings about that. But... it may be an interesting idea.

This was just an idea I tossed around; I'm not sure how feasable it is.
The idea was slightly different from GH's old Demi God, as has been touched upon. GH wanted to separate good Godlikes from the bad. While not a bad idea per se, IMO we don't have enough Godlikes to warrant making the division any smaller. What I wanted to do was give the "low Heavies" a chance instead of being food for the utterly ruthless Heavy division. It also ups the number of divisions that for many of us are the focus (the 3.0-4.5 range). -------------------- The Magus quote finally got old. *currently looking for a new sig*

I agree with Zenny on this one. It's the one thing I don't really like about the way we do rankings. *shrugs* -------------------- Foxhound Redux
