Are you steadily reading a book at the moment? If so, post it here, for interest's sake.

I'm reading Lamb by Christopher Moore. It's a novel set in Biblical times, about the Savior Himself; in his childhood years. The Bible speaks of Jesus' birth, but then the next you hear of the Son (or the Lamb, in this case) is on his 30th birthday. This wise-cracking, hilarious, addictive novel is all about the hidden story not told in the Holy Book, by none other than Christ's childhood pal, Levi bar Alphaeus, called Biff. If you ever get the chance to pick it up, I suggest you do. smile.gif

Now you go. tongue.gif

I'm currently reading Centaur Aisle by Piers Anthony. It's the 4th book in his Xanth series. Recently I've been switching back and forth between reading his books and the Shanarra books by Terry Brooks.

Lol! Biff for the sound that his head makes when it gets hit tongue.gif . That is one of the funniest books I have read. The mix of everything that happens is perfect.

I am not currently reading anything right now, though I am about to start reading something. I don't really know what, I am going to the bookstore soon. huh.gif

I've read a few dozen pages on 1984, and then had to return it to libary because it's on hold for someone else. Currently trying to get a copy on Earthbound of Harry Potter.

In school, I'm reading Obasan, which is this book about a Japanese woman living in Canada during the pearl harbor bombing.

Basically its a series of humorous fantasies about a land (Xanth) where magic exists.

I've finished Centaur Aisle now. Now on to The Wishsong of Shanarra by Terry Brooks. I've read about 30 pages so far, and it seems like the plot is identical to that of the first one. The funny part about it is that my copy of the book is very old and in several pieces. There's pages 1 to 32, 33 to 114, and so on. My dad's gotta take better care of his books... tongue.gif

laugh.gif Most of our school books are like that. It's crazy.

I'm gonna check out this Xanth; it seems pretty cool.

Bleh, double post. sleep.gif Kind of necessary here, no?

I'm reading 1984. biggrin.gif I'm about 40 pages in, and already I can see it's everything it's cracked up to be. After I'm done with it, it's right on to Animal Farm. Rock on George Orwell! tongue.gif

Yeah, people are likly to be reading a new book by now.

I haven't been reading much of anything lately. I've been stuck around page 100 of The First King of Shanarra by Terry Brooks for several weeks now. It's okay, but I haven't had much time at night lately to read, and I hate prequels (but my dad insisted I read this one next).

That's weird - I also don't like prequels. I feel like I should read the prequel first. tongue.gif Of course, you can't, because it is made to be read after the original, but meh. sleep.gif

I'm gonna read Brave New World after Animal Farm. My English teacher reccommended it, if I like 1984 and Animal Farm.

Prequels.. Gah. If it's a prequel, why didn't you get it published first?! ninja.gif

I'm not really reading anything at the moment. I've read just about every book I own (apart from several huge, leather-bound books like 'War & Peace' that I found too soul-crushingly boring to read) so I'm re-reading 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas' and 'The Bell Jar'. Any recommendations?

My reccommendations: (too many double letters there?)

Lamb by Christopher Moore - comedy I guess

Happiness by Will Ferguson - sort of funny, mostly "Negative Utopia"

A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving - sad, yet sickly funny

Assuming you've read 1984 and Animal Farm, which are my top priorities at the moment.

Gandalf sleep.gif Meh.

lol I love animal farm! that book is haliarious, and it has a good message too.

One thing I didn't understand from that book, however, was the pig snowball was later mentioned with the animals after he was kicked out, they never showed him coming back, or maybe I missed it. Gandalf if you see how it works, please enlighten me.

Both the Xanth and Shanarra series rule!

I've read all 27 books of Xanth 2 times through laugh.gif Every single book is packed full of laughs and great adventures. I also love the cast of characters that he Piers sets up along with the series; my personal favorites being Dor, Ivy, Demoness Metria, and the Good Magician. One of the best (or worst) parts of the every book are the puns. Some puns are hilarious, and others are so lame that they are funny biggrin.gif

As for Shannara, I read it for the amazing adventures. I have to admit that the Shannara series is my favorite over anything else. Terry Brooks just does an amazing job of describing and shaping an awesome fantasy world. All the books are packed full of action, excitement, and suspense. Besides Shannara, I've read all of his others books, and I really liked the Demon Series. It makes me sad that there are only 3 of them sad.gif

Anyway, if you like fantasy, comedy, and/or adventure I strongly suggest reading both Terry Brooks and Piers Anthony, You'll have a great time reading the books cool.gif
