I believe Michael Fitzsimmons may be the oldest man in the Republic of Ireland: http://www.anglocelt.ie/news/roundup/artic...t-to-longevity/

I am trying to clarify if Patrick Gleeson (May 20 1904) has passed away.I have reason to believe he has,but have not yet confirmed this. If so,Michael is the only 105yo male in this country.

I'm still trying to figure out who Katherine Plunket really is...Louis Epstein? I note you didn't use a space after periods and commas.

No, it's me : Finbarr, your Irish correspondent. You're right, there should be a space, looks better... K Plunket will hold the Irish record at least until Sep 2014... but have not yet located her in the 1911 census...

Do you have a list of Irish people aged 105+? I made note of a few names, but there was a 105th birthday report I saw sometime towards the end of last year and forgot to make a note of the name.

Well, it's pretty shocking but 11 such cases have passed away in the last 13 months :

Bride O'NEILL Feb 7 1902 - Jan 19 2010 107.346 Cork
Margaret CONWAY May 1901 - Jan 12 2009 107.c240 Tipperary

Mary FITZGERALD Nov 27 1902 - May 27 2009 106.181 Limerick
Mary ROWE Apr 17 1903 - Jul 5 2009 106. 79 Wexford

Helen GILMARTIN Jan 16 1904 - Jan 7 2010 105.356 Longford
. Patrick GLEESON May 20 1904 - Late 2009 105.c180 Clare
Catherine BRENNAN Dec 5 1903 - Mar 28 2009 105.113 Offaly
Margaret HOEY Oct 14 1903 - Jan 11 2009 105. 89 Clare
Annie NIC CHONGAILE Dec 2 1904 - Feb 22 2010 105. 82 Donegal/Dublin
Isobel CALVERT Jul 25 1904 - Sep 27 2009 105. 64 Kildare
Mary Jane CASEY Nov 21 1904 - Dec 5 2009 105. 14 Roscommon

Now we're left with just three confirmed cases :

KATHLEEN MURRAY NOVEMBER 6 1902 Roscommon (poorly)
STATIA KEALY JULY 5 1903 Kildare (excellent)
MICHAEL FITZSIMMONS FEBRUARY 23 1905 Cavan (reasonable)

Considering we had nine cases in late 2008, this is quite a dramatic decline -

SiameseTurtle, from what katherinePlunket listed after your post, it appears that maybe it was this one below that had celebrated her 105th birthday "towards the end of last year"?

Annie NIC CHONGAILE Dec 2 1904 - Feb 22 2010 105. 82 Donegal/Dublin

Since the passing of Brigid Daniel, here are the official oldest living residents in Ireland (unsure of Michael Fitzsimons' ranking):

1. Kathleen Murray (F) 6 November 1902
2. Mary Fitzgerald (F) 5 December 1902
3. Statia Kealy (F) 5 July 1903
4.(?) Michael Fitzsimons (M) 23 February 1905

No, Mary Fitzgerald died on May 27 2009 at 106.

Sta(s)ia Kealy turned 107 on July 5! The article has her name as Stasia rather than Statia, type-o? A photo of her is included.

NOTE: The article says she is the 3rd oldest living resident in Ireland. There must be one inbetween Mrs. Murray (born 6 Nov. 1902) and Mrs. Kealy. Or maybe they forgot that Bridie O'Neill died?

Forgetting what the article on Sta(s)ia Kealy's 107th birthday report said about her being Ireland's 3rd oldest living resident [I assume the press thought that Bridie O'Neill, the previous Ireland recordholder who died in January 2010, is still alive.], here are the oldest known cases above age 105.

1. Kathleen Murray, F, 6 November 1902
2. Sta(s)ia Kealy, F, 5 July 1903
3. Paddy Gleeson, M, 20 May 1904
4. Michael Fitzsimmons, M, 23 February 1905

Any errors Mr. Connolly?

I seem to remember her name is Anastasia, so it's just short for her name.
