I personally think this entire topic of Surviving World War One Veterans should be closed.
Sadly that era has now passed.
Please let me have thoughts.

I agree.

Why don't we just rename the section "War Veterans" or something like that to generalize it?

As there are no WWI Veterans left its pointless to do so

I construe this thread to be specifically about verified veterans of WWI. In the case of Imich and Kowalski, if either of them could be verified and their service in the war confirmed then I assume we could unlock this thread until they pass away, but that has yet to happen. As for WWI associates, I would really enjoy seeing a list of people involved in the war still living or just those who made it to 107-108+. But they are associates, not veterans, so (in my opinion) a new thread for them would be more appropriate then adding them on to this one.

I agree with you Ancient.
Unfortunately all the WWI veterans seem to have passed away.
It would be great if we would see this list being active for another time in the future, when we would discover another living person who fought or just joined the army in WWI.

Imich and Kowalski are not WWI veterans. If their claims are true, they are WWI-era veterans.

I already took care of that when I stated "their service in the war confirmed," if neither man actually fought in WWI, then they are not veterans of WWI.

Last veteran was Florence Green (19/02/1901-04/02/2012) from UK that died at 110 years and 350 days, right?

By the official definition, Yes.

By my definition the last surviving WWI vet was Claude Choules (1901-2011), lived 110y,63d.

Yeah by the official veteran definition my dad would be considered a (Soviet) veteran of the war in Afghanistan, since he served in the Soviet Army when the U.S.S.R. invaded Afghanistan but he was never at or near the front lines.

Maybe we'll be lucky and discover a 'sleepy' WW1 vet soon.

We can assume that Nasir Al Hajry is deceased as the “oldest man” in the United Arab Emirates, Ras Al Khaimah Rashid Hamdoon Saeed Al Naqbi, died at the age of 107 on February 13 last year. He was born on June 1, 1904:

http://dubaicityseeker.ems-international.o...e-country-dies/

Jadwiga Wrzos (b. Nov 1, 1900) and Konstanty Jung (b. Nov 1, 1900), of Poland, now appear to be deceased:

http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lista_najstar..._ludzi_w_Polsce

From the original Wikipedia lists, there are three “World War 1-era veterans” and alleged participants left:

Józef Kowalski (b. February 2. 1900)

Alexander Imich (b. February 4, 1903)

And still waiting to see any update (as in SSDI) on:

Kashi Ram Rai (b. January 1, 1900)

(still alive May 26 last year.)
