May she RIP. The decline in the Top 10 has been very quick. The Jan. 1, 1899 SCs, Leila Denmark, and Cora Hansen all died within a very short distance of each other.

And the two "twins" of 1st Jan 1899 have both been lost.

I mentioned the 1899 "twins". You're right about the 3 115 year olds, though. What's even more impressive is that one of them is a man.

Cora Hansen was one of my favorite Sc, because she was from a country that for time didn't have validated living Sc, because she was from 1800, but above all for her long and "hard" validation!!!

it's so sad that we have had her among validated living supercentenarians only for one month!!!

yesterday I have thought about her and I hoped she could be 114 at least...

You were the oldest of my country, personally I thought you looked great at your 113th, adn certainly hoped for one more birthday, but that is not that case.

The Top 10 has changed drastically in the last few weeks, fromn Leila Denmark, The "Twins" and now Cora.

Much too sad, and too many deaths in such short time. Lets hope this wave has finsihed.

I agree with Matt G but disagree with Rigor and Pieter. She looks great at her 113th birthday. Hansen on her 113th birthday looks 30 years younger than Blanchard on her 112th birthday. And I was surprised that Hansen still alive only 24 days after her birthday. (Blanchard more than 2 years) :blink:

Think of it this way: We lost some very important supercentenarians but now we have 3 validated 115 year olds living today.I find it quite interesting to see a pattern like this. (i.e. in 1997 when Jeanne Calment passed away and the sc deaths and surprises of the 2006-2007 year) It looks like to me that we are entering another 'Longevity Era.' (one with a few outliers and some scs that are more than a year younger than him/her in the top 10 oldest living).

This, to me, was unexpected. I thought Cora Hansen looked well at her 113th birthday, and the photo two weeks before was a visit while she was in bed, so I didn't count that for much.

Sometimes, however, supercentenarians feel like they've accomplished a "goal" (oldest living Canadian, 113th birthday, verified age) and they don't feel like keeping on going any longer.

I certainly thought she looked better shape than Stella Nardari, and she would last a few months at the smallest. Rest in Peace.
