Title: Edna Parker passes away at 115...

The GRG and "World's Oldest People" report that Edna Parker passed away on Wednesday at 115 years of age. I'd like to say farewell to Mrs Parker, and say she will be much missed..... Rest in Peace.

Edna Parker beat the odds. She never looked like she was going to make it to 115. I had pegged her as a "113er."

The thing, though, is that her age is so maddeningly ordinary...she didn't quite challenge the immortals like Charlotte Hughes and Christian Mortensen (but did surpass Margaret Skeete). Her age of 115 years, 220 days...not 219, not 221...

I did appreciate that Edna began to get more international coverage this year, even in Britain where the news mags tend to be very parochial.

I was not at all surprised that Nov 26 2008 was her last day. On the other hand, I could envision her making it to 2009...

Remember, I picked Edna's final age as between 115.5 and 116.

She could climb ladders at 100. Nice.

I thought she would reach 116, but that didnt happen. At least she held the title for over a year.

I was doubtful, if she was going to reach age 116, but she still went pretty far. Many people dont get to hold the title for over a year, but she did it.
