Title: Could Jeanne Live More
RicardoValentim114 - October 5, 2011 05:09 PM (GMT)
Jeanne could have live more?
fbarioli - October 5, 2011 05:13 PM (GMT)
You did not give us the option 122. I think she would have lived just as much as she did.
JalilGul - October 5, 2011 05:37 PM (GMT)
Well, if she did not smoke, Sarah Knauss could be the oldest ever.

Maybe 125-126 at the very most.

Are you saying that smoking increased Calment's longevity? I find that really hard to believe.

I think what Jaligul was trying to say is if Sarah Knauss did not smoke she could have lived longer than Jeanne Calment. though I have not seen any articles saying Sarah Knauss was a smoker. she loved fried foods yes but I donth think she was a smoker.
Whether Jeanne Calment smoked or not I think she would still have lived to 122 years old. she was immune to the health hazard that smoking brings. what caused her death was she was not receiving attention anymore after her 122nd birthday because the nursing home management does not allow interviews anymore.

I think if Jeanne did not smoke she could have, maby, celebrate 123. Smoking shortened her life quality

Yeah, I didn't quite get what JalilGul was saying either. I never heard of Sarah Knauss smoking, so I assumed he meant that smoking increased Calment's lifespan.

I believe it was said (from her doctor though I am not sure) that she could have lived another 10 years, but she became so "tired" of all the media attention.
Therefore, I predicted she could have roughly lived to the age of 132, dying in 2007.

If Sarah Knauss wouldnt eaten all that crap (fried foods, chips) she wouldve seen 123 (IMO)

Well then she wouldn't be Sarah Knauss. I don't think we can predict how things would be like in an alternate reality where a person had lived another way, especially as far as supercentenarians are concerned.
clark kent - October 9, 2011 02:10 PM (GMT)
yeah they wont be who they are if they did not eat the fried foods and smoked for nearly 100 years. that's what makes their age more remarkable. they are not health conscious as we think centenarians and supercentenarians should be but they still lived to ages that has not been reached for almost 12 years now.
and I thought Jeanne Calment loved the attention the media was giving her at that time. had the media attention continued she probably have lived to 123 or maybe 125. 132 is quite a stretch though
