Title: Fastest Collapse of Top Five Oldest Living People/
Description: Men

Futurist - October 2, 2011 06:57 AM (GMT)
What was the fastest collapse of the top five oldest living people and the fastest collapse of the top five oldest living men? By collapse, I mean that all of the top five will die. The fastest collapse for oldest living men that I found was between November 10, 2006 and January 24, 2007 (2 and a half months), where all the top five oldest living men died. Thus Tomoji Tanabe went from sixth place to first place within a two and a half month time period. Is there any collapse for oldest living men that is faster than the one I found?

You should add a condition. What if there are less than 5 men living at one time?

And, you got that from my topic didn't you? B) (just kidding)

As to answer your question, I can't find anything shorter than that. Sometimes it may take years.
The longest? Maybe for Jeanne Calment. When she succeeded the "throne", the top 5, I am guessing, are
1. Jeanne Calment
2. Lydie Vellard
3. Orpha Nusbaum
4. Lucy Hannah
5. Elzona Moxey

All of them died by 1993, when Hannah died. It took a full 10 years, or 9+ years for all of the top 5 to die.

Well, even if there are less than five living male SCs, there are still the five oldest living men (eve if some of them are 109). And I guess you're right about the longest/slowest collapse of the top five oldest living people. And yes, I did get my idea from your post, though I already knew that Tanabe rose very quickly up the ranks even before you made your post.

The fastest collapse of the top five oldest living people that I found was from August 27, 2006 to January 28, 2007 (five months). In this time period, Capovilla, Bolden, del Toro, Bertrand, and Tillman died.

So, the fastest collapse of the WOP and the WOM (top 5) were in the same general time: late 2006 to Jan 2007.

However, one of those persons, Emiliano Mercado Del Toro, was in both lists, so it's not completely a coincidence.

What about the oldest women?
For the late 2006-early 2007 period, they are as follows:
1. Maria Capovilla
2. Elizabeth Bolden
3. Julie Winnefred Bertrand
4. Camille Loiseau
5. Emma Tillman

They died from 12 August 2006 (Loiseau) to 28 January 2007 (Tillman). Is that the shortest? That's 5.5 months.
