Injury has Jason Kidd back on Nets' sideline

New York Daily News -
Nets guard Jason Kidd missed his third straight day of work yesterday, visiting the chiropractor instead of practicing with his teammates because of a strained lower back. He will not play in tomorrow's preseason game against the Knicks, and while there is no reason to think he will miss opening night against the Bulls on Oct.31, there is no guarantee that he will play.

Kidd, who first felt tightness in his back on Sunday, did not play in either of the Nets' first two preseason games, but that was planned. He was to make his preseason debut at the Meadowlands tomorrow before playing in two more preseason games before the season begins in two weeks.

General manager Ed Stefanski said Kidd's injury is similar to the one that kept him out of two straight games plus the All-Star Game last February. Although Stefanski said Kidd was feeling better than he had been on Sunday and Monday, Lawrence Frank said the superstar point guard was still feeling "very sore." Frank also said he was "worried," an admission he wasn't willing to make on Sunday.

"We're hoping as days progress it gets better," said Stefanski. "I can't give you an exact time when he'll be back on the court, but he is progressing positively."
