The St. Louis Cardinals still don't technically have a general manager, but that isn't stopping them from doing business. The Cardinals, seeking stability in their rotation, have re-signed right-hander Joel Pineiro to a two-year, $13 million contract, FOXSports.com has learned.
Pineiro went 6-4 with a 3.96 ERA in 11 starts for the Cardinals after he was acquired from the Boston Red Sox at the trading deadline for cash and a minor league player to be named later.
In seven major-league seasons, Pineiro has a record of 65-60, winning a career-best 16 games for the Mariners in 2003.
John Mozeliak has been conducting business as usual while the team continues its search for a GM.
