Yes, we do have rules, and we expect them to be taken seriously. *smiles*
- Be kind to all others- This is a game and we, the members of the board, are all here for fun. Don't ruin it for someone else by being a jerk – jerks won't last here long. Please remember, though, anything done "In Character (IC)" should not be taken personal but if something happens that you find unreasonable in or out of character please tell the Admins. We don't want anyone having reason to not be comfortable here.
- Be mature- By this we mean a few things. First off of course a little immaturity is all right in the means for fun but there is a limit we don't want folks coming in and making everything a joke and not taking anything seriously. That ruins the atmosphere for others and if we see this we will give one warning. Second this is meant to be a board for roleplaying and expanding your writing, no one line posts or characters profiles. New roleplayers are more than welcome but...
Please note: If we see too many short posts (five lines or less in the finished post) we will start giving warnings. Three warnings and limits will start to be put in place as to joining and/or starting new threads.
- No Power Characters!- We hate having to always say this but no god like characters, please! There is only room in Velgarth history for one Herald Vanyel or one Lavan Firestorm. We won't have any here we're sorry. This also goes for "In Character" actions as well, everyone makes mistakes because no one is perfect (even Herald Vanyel!) so just try to keep that in mind while playing and/or making your character.
- Know the Time- Under the announcement area is where the current in-game time frame will be displayed; we will refer to these time frames as “Chapters.” Anything you post should be between those dates shown and should have the date labeled as well as a round about time on your topic description.
For example: "Out for a Ride; (Afternoon) 9/16" or "Study Time; (Evening) 10/6".
((This is not set in stone if for some reason the date and/or time should be changed there's no problem. This is just to keep some kind of time line set.))
- Note the Place- There are times when a post takes place in a more particular location than what we have proper forums for and so when you find this to be the case you should make note of this location with your time stamp.
For example: "Study Time; The Sunroom - (Evening) 10/6" or "A Song to Sing; Girl's Dorms - (Lunch) 3/14".
These being in the main forums Herald's Collegia and Bardic Dormitories respectively.
- Signatures- We try to be lenient with signatures as we all love to use them but we just ask that if you use images - banners and the like - if you could try to keep the signatures only on the most recent post in any thread you are posting in.
i.e. - Whenever you post on thread edit your last post in that thread and turn off the sig.
This may seem annoying but it allows me to let folks be creative and open with signatures and banners without letting them become a distraction from the posting itself.
- Read the Stickies!- We put this here so as to keep from going on and on with these rules. Certain forums here will have stickies that we expect to be read before anything is posted there.
In other words: If you see a sticky Read it! We'll know if you didn't.
