Chapter 1

The cool autumn air swept across the yards of Berkindale Street, stirring occasional leaves as it traveled. The sun was warm, but pleasant, and clouds were very rare. The day was perfect, but not for Daniel Radcliffe. He never had a perfect day; his life was always screwed up. One problem after another built up in him, causing more stress than one person can hold. But he did; he didn’t have much of a choice.
Between working on the Harry potter movies and doing schoolwork, Dan never had time to him self. And when he was at home, his parents fought constantly. He wished they would just get a divorce, they’d be better off, but they never would; they said it was against their believes. Instead, they would just make his every waking moment a living hell. He was an only child, so he couldn’t share his feelings with anyone. He never had time for a psychiatrist and the only friends he had were on the movie set, and they never had time to talk either. So, basically, he was alone to fend for himself. Anything he wanted or needed he had to get; no one else was going to do it for him. His mother was constantly telling him that he’s sixteen and that it’s time for him to grow up and take care of himself. But ever since he’d started acting, all he did was act older than he was or younger than he was. He began tiring and was becoming depressed; there was nothing to prevent it.
Many times he had thought of suicide as a way out, but never could carry through. He felt his grandmother’s presence try to sooth him regularly, but sometimes it just wasn’t enough. His grandma had pasted away almost a year ago, the only person who cared for him was gone. Now what was he to do? But one day, he made a break for it.
Instead of driving home, like he was suppose to right after work, he drove and drove, not caring where he was going, as long as he could get away. Endless towns he passed without stopping. His cell phone had started ringing in the beginning of his journey but he turned it off, he needed peace. After reaching a town called Rivengard, he twisted and turned his way through until he found a secluded area where he could be alone; the park. As he reached the parking area, he rolled down his windows in order to allow air to circulate while he was gone, otherwise the vehicle would be to warm when he returned.
He pulled his midnight blue, mustang into the parking place furthest from civilization, then got out and locked it anyway, only after grabbing his portable c.d. player he had brought with him. Dan looked around the rich, emerald field of park but saw no living creature except a solitary bird, which fluttered when his gaze fell on it. He slowly walked over to a soft patch of grass, and then sat himself upon. Placing his headphones on his ears, he turned on the loud music that would over ride his thoughts, taking him to another world; somewhere he belonged. He called it his ‘angry” music, for he felt it helped him relieve tension.
After listening to his music for a while, he laid back and closed his eyes, imaging different things that he wished had happened in his life. Here, in his desolate place, he fell asleep.

Chapter 2

It was dusk when Dan finally awoke, still alone. He looked down at his player, which was still going, but now flashing a low battery sign. Glancing at his watch, he found it to be 7:47 p.m. He knew it was late, but he didn’t really want to leave, he was content where he was. He would stay there all night if he could, but he knew his parents would have the police brigade after him, and would eventually be found.
He rose from the ground and dusted himself off, then headed back towards his car. Talking his ring from his pocket, he quickly found the key and unlocked the door before climbing inside. His gaze fell upon distant clouds, which looked to promise a storm, unfortunately in the direction he was to head.
He turned his phone back on and sighed at the 49 messages alert flashing on the screen. He didn’t bother to return the calls or find out whom they were from. They were all the same; it was is mother yelling at him to come home immediately, going on about how worried she was.
“She’s not worried,” he growled. “She just needs me around to do things for her so she doesn’t have to get off her fat ass.”
As he drove into the eerie clouds, their thickness began to grow, visibility becoming more minimal by the second. A gentle sprinkle began to fall, gracefully splashing across then off of his windshield, forcing him to roll up the windows so he wouldn’t ruin the interior of his pride and joy. The deeper into the storm he traveled the more progressively the rain fell, making it hard to drive; his sleepiness not helping the situation any. Finally, somewhere around 10 p.m. Dan pulled into his family drive way, parked his car, and drug himself inside. He knew he would get an earful as soon as he got in, but figured he might as well get it over with.
The moment he opened the door he felt his mother’s hand impact with the side of his face.
“You’ve had me worried sick!” she cried out, putting her shaking hands on her hips. He fingered the area where she had hit him and determined that only minor damage had been done.
“Like you care,” he mumbled. That was a mistake. His mother slapped him across the face, this time more powerfully, leaving more of an impression than the first. Dan felt his jaw go numb as he tried to move it, making sure he had teeth left. He stood their patiently as his mother yelled on about how distraught she was, never meeting her eyes, afraid she’d hit him if he did. Finally, he became tired of standing and just walked up the stairs, even though her speech wasn’t finished.
“Yes, that’s right, just walk off. Your just like your father.” He hated being compared to his dad, they were nothing alike. He despised his father for as long as he could remember. He knew that his dad didn’t care where he had been; he was probably out getting drunk somewhere, while Dan got chewed out.
“Never,” he whipped around to face her from up the stairs, “compare me to that bastard again!”
“Don’t back talk to me, young man! I’ll have your father deal with you when he gets home, so help me god!”
“I swear to you, when I have a family someday, I’ll never treat them like you do me. Never! I’ll love my kids, care for them! Not hit them and verbalize my anger on them!”
“You say that now, but you will, I promise.”
“No, mom, I won’t. Just you wait and see.”
“If you love them you will!”
“YOU CALL THIS LOVE? You beat me every time you get mad! You yell at me if you have a bad day! It’s not my fault, yet it’s always taken out on me! If this is love, then lets pray that I hate my children, maybe then they’ll stand a chance!” He stormed off to his room, locking the door behind him. His anger was pounding inside his head, pounding so hard that when he looked in the mirror it seemed as though his temples were beating with his heart; fast and vigorously. The rain was pelting on his window, making a soothing sound against the thundering clouds. Gradually, nature’s music began to calm him, making him more tired than he already was. He stretched his long body across his bed and closed his eyes, letting sleep over take him, from the inside, out.

Chapter 3

Somewhere around one in the morning, Dan awoke to blinding headlights beaming onto his unfathomable blue eyes. He rubbed them gently and turned from his stomach to his back. The outside lights disappeared, and moments later the front door to his house sounded as though it had been ripped from its hinges. Heavy footsteps made their way from the down stairs hall to outside his door, making his pulse race faster with each step. His bedroom door was being jerked at, but wouldn’t budge because of the lock. A deep voice began muttering immense profanity, while its owner searched for a key; a key to unlock the door with.
Dan looked for somewhere to hide, praying he would be spared this one night. He needed sleep, but every time he was abused his wounds caused too much pain for sleep to be possible. Dreaded memories from his last confrontation with his father became clearer in his mind. He hadn’t locked the door that night, his dad was angry about work and came home drunk like usual. Dan’s mother wasn’t home so his dad had only him to take it out on. He never hit Dan’s mom, for it was polite to hit a lady. Yet children must be punished for doing wrong, though in Dan’s case, punished for someone else’s wrong doing.

Flashback:
He came in and grabbed Dan by the collar of his shirt while he was doing homework and threw him against the wall, striking him multiple times in the face and ribs before his body even made contact with the house’s structure. He fell to the floor crying out in pain, grabbing his ribs from where his father’s fist had impacted with him. He continually kicked Dan, calling him week because he wouldn’t stand up and fight him like a man. Once every reachable place had been maimed, Dan was pulled by his hair, down the stairs and to thrown into the trunk of the car. His dad then drove him into the country where he dropped him off and left him to walk home, telling him it would teach him a lesson. Dan didn’t even think he could walk, let alone stand up as he watched the family car disappear into the dark night.

The noises outside Dan’s door stopped, everything went quite. The front door slammed shut and the sound of a car starting up outside could be heard. He let out a sigh of relieve, but he could still see his heart beat through his shirt. He lay back down and closed his eyes again, and began thanking god for saving him that night.

thanks for the reply! *drop kicks dan's dad*

Chapter 4

Dan could still remember times when his family wasn’t like this, when he used
to have a happy life. His father, Martin Thomas Radcliffe, worked in the military and was gone most of the time, but when he was home he was the most caring, loving father anyone could ask for. He was always bringing Dan home gifts from different places he had traveled, always getting upset at the thought of being relocated, for he didn’t want to move Dan from his childhood friends.
His mother, Elaine Morgan Radcliffe, was a nurse at the local hospital, and was paid good money. She was always sweet, very homely, and got along great with everyone she met, whether it be at home or at work.
Together his parents helped raise him, never fighting like they did now, never treating Dan cruelly. At around age eight, though, Dan’s life dramatically changed.
His father was laid off and began working as a miner, making only a fraction of what had been helping keep a roof over his family’s head. His mother then had to take on another job and became a waitress. Now she worked eighteen hours a day instead of the ten she had been working. Because no one was every home, Dan was left responsible of keeping the house clean and taking care of himself.
Now, though, his father was still a miner, but his mother was only a waitress. Because she had been working so many hours, she began slacking off on her nursing job and was fired. This is when most of the abuse began. Money became tight causing many uproars between his parents; most of the time he tried to drown them out by playing music but usually just cried himself to sleep in the end. After a bit, physical assaults became involved and after his mom threatened to leave after being hit, Dan became the target of interest. He was the only one who couldn’t do a thing to stop his father; nothing.
Now, Dan had a job of his own, hoping it would help keep him as far away from his father as possible. He played the fictional character Harry Potter in the movies based after J.K. Rowling’s books. The job paid wonderful money, not to mention he got along great with just about everyone one the set, especially Rupert and Tom. He had never managed to do very well with any of the girls on the set, probably because he couldn’t even understand the one he lived with, making it hard for him to communicate with and understand the women he worked with. No one at work knew what was going on in his home life, and since he was tutored on the movie set, he didn’t have anyone at school that could understand, since they were the same people.
Though his job usually helped keep him out of trouble, his temper, like his father’s, got him into trouble. He wasn’t very angry (unlike his dad) but once he blew his cool, there was hell to pay. No one could stop him either, except his dad. Only once had he ever tried to go up against him and when he did, he was brought down like a ton of bricks. Ever since then, when his father was around he would cower and hide, but could you blame him?
His father may not have been able to get a hold of him that night, but the next morning he was successful. Usually his hung over self was less violent than his drunken self, but since he hadn’t taken out his fury that previous evening, all that anger and malice was still inside ready to escape.

Chapter 5

Dan caught the bus to the studio from the parking lot, just barely making it in time to change and be on set as Harry before filming began.

“Hey man,” his friend Rupert came up behind him while his make up was being applied.

“Running a bit late, are we?”

“Yeah, yeah, over slept.”

“Man, your worse than a girl, and that’s saying something,” he laughed and playfully slugged Dan in the shoulder.

Dan winced in pain, but hope his friend hadn’t noticed.

“Oh come on, I didn’t hit you that hard!”

“I know,” Dan said, “It’s just I fell yesterday and bruised my shoulder so it’s kind of tender.”
He couldn’t believe he had just lied to his best friend, but he knew he would be murdered if he told the truth and his parents found out. He would put on his fake smile and personality as usual, making everyone see what he wanted to be.
As Dan got up from the table, his legs gave way causing him to fall and bash his head on the table in front of him.

“Whoa mate, are you ok?” Rupert asked, as helped Dan back to his feet,

“Yeah, I just, I don’t know what happened really.”

Dan didn’t notice his pant leg slide up, revealing hideous wounds.

“What the fuck happened to you, Dan?” he was becoming worried.

“I told you I fell,” he snapped.

“You said you bruised your arm, not mangled half of your body.”

Dan could tell Rupert was getting suspicious. He didn’t blame him either. If he were in his place he would think he was lying too. But the problem was Dan was lying, but only in order to stay alive. Rupert just shook his head.

“Fine,” Rupert sighed and they headed off towards the set for filming.

The day drug by slowly after that, as Dan attempted to stay away from his friend as much as possible. Finally, three o’clock came and the director let them go, biding that he would see them tomorrow and to not be late. Dan ran for his car, hoping to make a smooth get away without getting caught in the process. But as his luck would have it, he wouldn’t.

“Dan, wait up!” A painting red head came running up behind him. “Do you think I could get a ride? My mom’s car broke down.”

“Yeah, get it,” Dan sighed.

He really wanted to be alone, but he wasn’t going to make his friend take a cab, especially since it would by him an excuse for not going straight home.
Half way to Rupert’s house it occurred to Dan that the park he had visited yesterday wasn’t that far, and that he could easily swing by there after dropping his friend off. Dan zipped his car down the highway, frantically passing cars left and right in order to quickly get to his destination; Rupert afraid he had turned into a mad man seeing as they near caused a fifty car pile up…twice. Horns and obscene gestures could be heard and seen in every direction.

“Slow down Dan, or I promise the interior of this vehicle will never smell the same again!”

This made Dan smile as he looked over at his extremely white faced best friend, who was holding on to the handle of the door, muttering prayers under his breath. Around ten minutes later they pulled in to Rupert’s drive away. He gathered his things and hopped out, biding Dan a goodbye before shutting the door. Only after his friend safely got into his house did Dan back out of the driveway, determined to ease some of the suspicion Rupert had about him.

Chapter 6

As he drove, he became bored with the silence and turned on his radio.

When this began
I had nothing to say
And I’d get lost in the nothingness inside of me
I was confused
And I let it all out to find/ that I’m
Not the only person with these things in mind
Inside of me
But all the vacancy the words revealed
Is the only real thing that I’ve got left to feel
Nothing to lose
Just stuck hollow and alone
And the fault is my own
And the fault is my own

I want to heal
I want to feel
What I thought was never real
I want to let go of this pain I’ve held so long
(Erase all the pain till its gone)
I want to heal
I want to feel
Like I’m close to something real
I wan to find something I’ve wanted all along
Somewhere I belong

The song went as though the words were coming straight from Dan’s mind. The words were exactly how he felt. He needed somewhere he could be him, somewhere where he could be loved by someone, anyone. The song had just barely finished, as the mustang pulled into the same parking space as the previous day. As he stepped out of his car, though, he found he couldn’t enjoy the solitary confinement like he had enjoyed before. There was only one person there that he could see anyway, and she seemed to entranced with her thoughts to notice him.
From what he could tell she was pretty. The closer he got to her, the more his theory was proved correct. She had long, silky brown hair, reaching her waist, emerald eyes that seemed to go on forever, and skin that appeared to belong to a porcelain doll, and hinted a mild tan.
Suddenly she glanced at him and smiled, making him blush and look away. He turned and started heading for the spot he liked when she spoke to him.

“Excuse me, do you happen to know the time?” He found she was still smiling.
He glanced at his watch.
“Um, it’s ten ‘til four.” He too was now smiling. She had a sweet voice, one that was very calming to a person.
“Thanks.” The smile never faded. He walked over to her and extended his hand.
“I’m Daniel Radcliffe,” he said. This sort of shocked him. He never approached strangers, especially not girl strangers. Her eyes increasingly brightened, he knew she must have recognized him now as Harry Potter, something he was well used to by now. But instead of trampling him or asking for an autograph, she shook his hand.
“Nice to meet you, I’m Piper Randall.” Dan could feel himself slightly blushing again.
“Do you mind?” he asked, pointing at the empty space next to her on the bench.
“Not at all.”
“Nice weather we’re have,” was all Dan could think to say. He wasn’t exactly good when it came to charming women out of their wits.
“Yeah it is, nice and cool, but not too cool. You know?” Dan nodded in agreement. He was really beginning to like this Piper, though all he knew about her was her name. They sat in silence for a few minutes, giving Dan the time to realize that the only vehicle around was his.
“How’d you get here? There aren’t any other cars.” He asked.
“I walked. I was having a bad day and just need some fresh air.”
“How far did you walk?” he continued, knowing he was being a bit nosey.
“About ten miles or so.” His eyes grew in amazement.
“You walked ten miles!”
“Yep, only took me two hours.
Dan had walked almost ten miles before being picked up by a stranger the time his father dropped him off in the middle of nowhere, and he knew how painful it could be. But Piper didn’t seem to be in any pain, she just seemed extremely calm and relaxed.
“So, where do you go to school at?” she asked, a gentle breeze causing a few strands of her hair to blow in her face.
“I don’t go to school, I’m tutored.”
“Why?” she asked. He then knew she had no clue of who he really was.
“I’m an actor,” he decided to tell her the truth, she’d find out eventually.
“Really?’ she seemed impressed. “I always wanted to be an actress, but like most people, it was just a dream. Its not like I didn’t try, you know. I went to auditions for plays, movies, even musicals, but I never got a part in anything. Probably because I’m a geek or something just as pathetic.”
“What makes you think you’re a geek?” he asked. It had been a long time since he had been in public school to know what the teachers were like.
“I’m the quiet one in school. I get good grades but I’m not really social. I mean I have friends, but only a few. On weekends I usually write instead of go to the movies like everyone else. But no one knows the real me, I can be really hyper and wild when I want to be, but that’s never around anyone, in other words not at school or in public. Just when my parents aren’t home. See I’m a geek.”
“Don’t geeks usually have freckles, and braces, and glasses, and are quiet, or something close to that?”
“No, that’s the stupid stereotypical version most people know, but that’s because of movies. They’ve deluded generations’ minds with set versions of what a geek would look like. But really geeks can look just like everyone else. I’ve had braces and am quiet, but I like to consider myself…an individual. I don’t like living up to everyone else’s expectations. I want to be me.”
She was starring into thin air. Dan felt he could understand everything she was saying in the full about not wanting to be like everyone else, though he would gladly trade places with anyone as long as he could be away from his family.
They continued to talk into the later hours of the evening, until darkness began to over take the sky. Their discussions hadn’t been on any one thing in particular, just little things, things that helped them better get to know each other. Dan had lain down on the bench, and continued talking, but unintentionally fell asleep.

Chapter 7

When Dan awoke he was a bit panicky. Instead of being on the park bench in the middle of the park, he was in what appeared to be a hotel room. He quickly looked around for any sign of Piper, but didn’t find her anywhere. His eyes then landed on a piece of paper with his car keys beside it, which were on the nightstand next to him. He quickly unfolded it and read:

Dan,

Morning sleepy head! Here are your car keys (which is locked and down in the parking lot btw) and an extra set of cloths (in the chair). Everything is paid for so you don’t have to worry. Oh and try to catch breakfast before you go to work this morning; the studio is only about ten minutes away. Thanks for talking with me last night; I had fun.
Piper

He smiled to himself and headed for the bathroom, where he took a quick shower before changing into the clothes she left for him. He ate breakfast for the first time in a long time, enjoying every last bite, since it would probably be his last breakfast since he didn’t go home last night. After eating, he made sure he had all his stuff and checked out, then headed to the studio. It was like she said, about ten minutes away, and not very busy traffic wise; he liked the change in scenery. For one, he was actually early to work, not late; only Rupert was there as far as he could tell. Dan hopped out of the car, locking it behind him, and then went to change in his dressing room. He ran his fingers through his messy, wet hair as he found the key to his room, causing water to get all over him and the floor.
“Smooth, Dan, real smooth,” Rupert came up behind him. “What he hell happened to you? I mean you’re actually early!”
Dan smiled at him. “I’ll explain later, I’m still trying to figure it out myself.” He walked inside and took a seat in the chair in front of his mirror while Rupert lazily threw himself on the couch next to him.
“So, maybe I should rephrase my question. Who the hell happened to you? Or should I say, who did you do?”
Dan narrowed his eyes at his friend before ripping off his shoe and throwing it at him, barely missing his head.
“Alright, alright! Don’t kill me. Just tell me what happened, and don’t say nothing, cuz I know better. I’m not stupid contrary to popular belief, Dan.”
“Well, I went to the park and met someone.”
“Yesh, I’m listening.”
“A girl.”
“ALRIGHT DANNY BOY! What happened? Who is she?” Rupert was on the edge of his seat.
“Her name is Piper, and we didn’t do anything but talk…all night. And then I woke up in a hotel room.”
“And you say nothing happened, you liar you.”
“Nothing did happen, not that I know of anyway.”
“Were you naked?”
“What?!”
“Did you wake up stark staring naked?”
“NO! GOD! I knew I shouldn’t have said anything, I knew I shouldn’t have, especially not to you!”
“What are you guys talking about?” Tom’s head appeared threw a crack at the door.
“Oh, Dan got some last night!” Rupert spat through laughing his ass off.
“I-did-not!” defensively protested Dan. Tom pranced in and sat next to a still laughing Ruppie.
“Oh do tell! Come on, Dan, share the juice,” he smiled, and slapped Rupert in the leg to make him shut up so he could hear. Dan retold his story and watched Tom’s eyes widen in interest.
“Daniel, you aren’t giving us the full story, are you?” Tom asked, rather seriously.
“I would tell you to call her and ask her yourself…”
“But?”
“But- I don’t know her number.”
“Dude, that’s wrong! You potentially slept with her and you don’t even know her phone number!”
“Right, but she knows mine.”
“Good, don’t give me a heart attack, pulling shit like that man,” Rupert sighed, now in a more ‘calm’ state. Suddenly, Dan’s pants began to vibrate.
“Hello?” he did recognize the number on the caller I.D. of his cell phone.
“Hey, wanted to make sure you got to work ok. Did you get my note?’
“Who is it?” Tom whispered; Dan eyed him as if to say shut-your-big-fat-mouth-and-I’ll-tell-you-in-a-second.
“It’s Piper,” he mouthed, causing Rupert to break out laughing again. Tom tackled him and covered his mouth so she wouldn’t hear them in the background.
“Is this a bad time?” she asked, obviously having heard the duo making a racket.
“No, no, not at all.”
“Ask her if anything happened!”
“Shut up!” he covered the mouthpiece of the phone so he could yell at them.
“Ask her!” Rupert screamed at the top of his lungs.
“Ask me what?” Piper questioned.
“God, um, my idiotic ‘friends’ want to know if anything, um, happened between you and I, uh, last night?”
“Yeah baby, all night long,” she laughed. “No, I’m only joking, nothing happened, you’re safe.”
“She said nothing happened,” he relayed to them.
“You just fell asleep, and I didn’t want to wake you. And since I don’t know where you live, I put you in a hotel room.”
“Sorry, I had to ask, they’re harassing me about it,” Dan apologized, holding his head in his hands while glancing at his anxious friends, who were still laughing. Rupert grabbed the phone from Dan and took off down the hall with it, laughing manically along the way.
“Hi, I’m Rupert,” he breathed into the phone, once he found a good hiding place.
“Hi, Rupert, I’m Piper, Dan’s friend.”
“ Oh yeah, I know all about you, well sort of. Only what Dan was willing to tell, that is.”
“Really? Don’t even know the guy a day and I already have him talking. Nothing bad, I hope…”
“No, no, only good stuff, only good. Hold on, I think they’re on my trail.
Rupert went quiet and tried not to move. The tiny closet, in Sean’s (Oliver Wood) dressing room, was the only place he could find that wouldn’t give him away easily. Piper tried not to laugh as she heard him breathing heavily into the phone. Rupert heard the door to Sean’s room creek open, and two sets of feet walk in.
“Look over there,’ Dan whispered, nodding for the closet door. Tom carefully snuck over and jerked the door open, making its occupant scream like a girl.
“AAIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!” Rupert shot past tom and out the door, with the pair quick on his trail. He could swear he heard Piper laughing hysterically on the other end of the phone, making him smile. Dan reached out to grab the phone but Tom got to it first, and copied Rupert’s behavior.
“Tom, here, another one of Dan’s freaky friends,” Tom managed to say as he ran with all his might.
“Hi, Tom.”
“Piper, I presume.”
“You presume correctly.”
Yeah, I can tell why Dan likes you.”
“Really?”
“Yes, you seem really nice,” Tom said, and unintentionally began blushing, as did she.
“Thanks, so do you.”
Someone came up behind Tom and jumped on his back.

Chapter 8

“Guess who?” a girl asked, covering his eyes with her hands.
“Hey, babe,” Tom said, and wrapped his arm around his girlfriend, Katie, and began playing with her beautiful brown hair.
“Who are you talking to?” she whispered, nodding at the phone.
“Someone Dan met at the park yesterday. Her name’s Piper; here say hi or something,” he handed her the phone, and got up to get them some soda.
“Hi,” she said a little awkwardly, considering she had no idea of whom she was talking to or why.
“Which one of Dan’s clan am I talking to now?” Piper asked.
“Oh, yeah, um, I’m Katie, Tom’s girlfriend.”
“Really? Is Dan like the only single one or something?”
“Basically. He isn’t exactly smooth with the ladies, so to speak,” Katie laughed.
Tom sat back down beside her and handed her soda to her, then began nuzzling on her neck.
“Oh, get a room,” Dan laughed, completely out of breath from running, and grabbed his cell phone from Katie’s grasp.
“Hey! I wasn’t done talking yet!”
“What! It’s my friggin’ phone here!”
Tom and Katie just laughed at him, and then went back to their own business.
“No, really, you guys should get a room. The general public doesn’t need to see you getting freaky in the middle of the coffee shop. Its just disturbing.”
From that he walked off, almost forgetting Piper was still on the phone.
“Oh shit,” he whispered and put the phone back up to his ear.
“Sorry about that,” he was heading back for his room so he could finish getting ready, not to mention have more privacy. This time though, he made sure he had a better grip on his phone.
“Honestly, those nutters drive me crazy,” he smiled as he reached his door.
“They sound like a great bunch of friends, if it’s any consolation to you.”
Dan like this, most girls would be seriously annoyed by a stunt that had just been pulled, yet Piper didn’t mind; actually, she seemed to think it all rather hilarious.
“Anyway, I was wondering if you want to grab a bite later?” she asked, a bit anxious as to his response; which she figured was probably no.
“Sure,” he replied. “Um, is seven alright with you?”
“Yeah, that’s great. But, where do you wanna eat?”
“Applebee’s?”
“Coolio, see you then.”
And with that it was settled. Dan had a date that his friends didn’t know about, meaning they couldn’t harass him before hand. He bid her goodbye and waited for the make up artist to make her way in, which only took about twenty minutes.
“Wow, you’re actually here.”
Dan rolled his eyes at her.
“Why are you happy? Its morning for god sake…or is your internal clock screwed up again?” she asked, unloading her makeup cart.
“Mel, why do I have to have a reason for being early?” he asked.
“Because your never early. That’s why.”
“Good point.”
“Yeah, now close your pretty, little eyes or I’ll poke them out,” she snapped, and applied some foundation to his lids.
“If I have to be tortured, then we’re listening to music.”
“Fine, but nothing to rockish, its to early.”
Dan slapped at the table trying to find his stereo remote, since his eyes had other plans at the moment, and couldn’t be used. He finally found it, and almost flipped it off into the floor, but managed to catch it before he did.
“Don’t have any cd’s here at the moment, so the radio will have to do, ok?”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah.” She wasn’t paying any attention to what he was saying, just his pores.

Storming through the party like my name was El Nino
When I’m hanging out drinking in the back of an El Camino
As a kid, I was a skid and no one knew me by name
I trashed my own house party cause nobody came

Well I know I’m no the one you thought you knew back in high school
Never going, ever showing up when we had to
Is it attention that we crave don’t tell us to behave,
I’m sick of always hearing act your age.

I don’t want to waste my time
And become another casualty in society
I’ll never fall in line
Become another victim of your conformity
And back down.

Because you don’t
Know us at all, we laugh when old people fall
But what would you expect with a conscience so small
Heavy metal and mullets it’s how we were raised.
Maiden and the Priest were the gods that we praised.

Cause we like having fun at other peoples expenses and
Cutting people down is just a minor offence then,
It’s none of your concern, I guess I’ll never learn
I’m sick of being told to wait my turn.

“Honestly, Dan, don’t you pick up any other stations?’ she asked, plugging her ears with her fingers as Sum41 blared through the speakers.
“Nope,” he smiled, bobbing his head to the music.
“I don’t get paid enough for his,” she sighed and left the room to get some coffee.
“Dan! DAN!” Emma stalked in, screaming at him. “TURN DOWN YOUR FREAKING MUSIC!”
Dan did as he was told, only because the song just ended.
“What? Someone have your panties in a twist this early, Emma?”
“Joel and I can’t concentrate with that racket shaking the entire building!” she yelled, and walked off.
“It takes concentration to snog? Man I have been single too long," he thought to himself.
He turned of his radio and headed out the door, locking it behind him so the guys couldn’t prank him, and headed down to the set. No one knew his little secret, and he was bound and determined to keep it that way.

heres another chapter..ok all of the italics mojo stuff is piper flashbacking and the regular stuff is dan...hope u like it! biggrin.gif

Chapter 9

Dan’s day didn’t quite go to plan for him after he arrived on the set. First, Tom and Luke were messing around, pretending their wands were swords, and Tom’s wand broke in half, so everyone got a speech on playing with the props. Then, he was trying to do a scene where he has to run up this steep hill, but ended up tripping and giving himself a black eye, not to mention he tore his robe. At lunch, Emma was too entrance with what Joel was saying to see Dan and ended up spilling her scalding hot coffee down his back, which had to be treated immediately. And from then till the time he could leave, which ended up being five because of all the mishaps, he managed to break two fingers, lose Harry’s glasses, twice, and sit on wet paint.
On the way to his car, he was mumbling about how if his day got much worse he’d cancel his date, but realized he didn’t have his keys; they were locked in his dressing room, along with the key to get into his dressing room.
Dan gave up and threw himself on the ground, leaning against his car, and sighed to himself. Today was supposed to be perfect, yet it had all gone amuck.
Dan finally decided to call and cancel. He grabbed his cell phone and began to dial when the words low battery flashed on his screen right before the phone went dead. He groaned loudly to himself.
“Why?” he asked, not speaking to anyone in particular. He felt like all of the energy he had this morning had drained out of him, not even leaving a drop to spare.
Dan could hear footsteps approaching and turned to see his red haired friend giving him an odd look.
“Why are you on the ground, Dan?” Rupert asked, blinking madly.
“I locked my friggin keys in my room,” Dan managed to breath, not wanting to even move.
“Gee, Dan, you make it sound like the end of the world,” Rupert took a seat by him on the hard, cold cement.
“Today was going great, and then, it just all started to suck horribly. Ever since I made that date with…” Dan regretted letting those words slip from his mouth.
“You made a date with Piper then didn’t tell me about it, didn’t you?”
“Yes,” Dan sighed.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Because you would have told Tom, and then you two would take turns harassing me all day long, if not try to tag along for the date.”
“You do make a good point there, mate. But you know we only do it in good fun, don’t you?”
“Well, yeah, it just gets kind of…old.”
“I’m sorry if we embarrassed you this morning. If you want we can call and apologize,” Rupert said, staring off into space.
“No,” Dan shook his head furiously. “She was actually ok with it. So far she’s the only girl I’ve met who was.”
“Well, it’s not like we mess with every girl friend you get, Dan.”
“You have all, except Melissa, but that was only because her dad was a cop!”
“I may be crazy but I don’t have a death wish here!” Rupert laughed.
“C’mon, I’ll go with you to get your keys,” Rupert stood up and helped Dan to his feet.
“Thanks.”

Piper flashback:

It was cold outside, the rain was beating against my skin like needles; chilling me down to the bone. I knew they were waiting for me, they were the predators and I was the prey; weak and innocent, no one would be able to hear me scream…no one would care.
I quickly make my way to my car, fingering my keys and medicine bottle in my pocket along the way. I come prepared, knowing what a waits, but am I prepared enough?
A pair of headlights suddenly blinds me, as two sets of arms grab me from either side. I don’t fight it; I know it’s useless. They forcefully pull me towards their car, throwing me inside once I reach it, and then lock me in. At least its warm in here.

*

Dan finally made his way home in one piece, after Rupert helped him get himself together. He decided he’d best take a shower, considering he still smelled like coffee, and then went to his room to decide what to wear.
“I thought only girls were suppose to have this problem!” he laughed, fingering the hangers in his closet, flicking past the shirts he didn’t want to wear. Once again he was getting water everywhere, mainly due to the only thing covering his lower torso was a sheer towel. Finally he settled on a black shirt and jeans, then quickly changed.

*

Most people when they are kidnapped are scared; me, I knew it was coming and was rather calm, grateful I at least knew who these people were. Every year the seniors pull a prank. Technically, I should only be in the tenth grade, but was pushed ahead to grades because I wasn’t learning anything new. The seniors of course always made fun of me, along with everyone in school, I was use to it by now; I would never fit in, be popular. This year, I was the prank. Kidnap the freak, hold her hostage until the prom, then go Carrie and dump blood on her in front of the entire school. I wasn’t stupid, I knew how it went.
We’ve just arrived at the most popular guy in the senior years house. My god its huge; his family must be rich. We pull into the garage and he helps me out, being nice to me the entire time.
“You’ll be staying in the basement guest room,” he says. “Don’t want the neighbors to freak out if they’d see you wandering around the house.”
He has beautiful eyes. So deep, so blue.

warning: bad stuff is about to happen... ..very bad..tho most of its in chapter 11 and 12 ( i think) still i thought i should warn u

Chapter 10

Dan quickly glances at his watch; its only 6:00.
“Might as well get going,” he sighed to himself. “That way I’ll hopefully make it on time, whether karma gets to me or not.”
That’s what Rupert told him. All of his bad luck was due to the fact that he didn’t tell him he had a date. Dan just laughed at him, but was now beginning to believe it himself, since he’d had better luck and less physical damage ever since Rupert found out.
Dan slowly made his way to his car, enjoying the warm breeze that was sweeping across his neighborhood, causing tiny water droplets from Dan’s hair to fall on to him. He eased his way into the driver’s seat and put the key in the ignition, pausing for a brief moment before actually starting the car. Cautiously, Dan backed out of the driveway, making sure he wouldn’t cause and accident before he even got a mile from his house.

*
The inside of Christian’s house is even more luxurious than I had imagined, like a house only stars could afford to own. I had to remind myself numerous occasions to close my mouth from all the gawking I was doing, as we headed for the basement stairs. Unfortunately, the basement was only half as glamorous.
“My parents are out of town, so we’ll be alone,” Christian informed me as I continued to gawk. “The phone in your room only calls inside the house, so you can’t escape not even if you try. You’ll be locked down here.”
His eyes glittered with excitement, making me a bit uneasy. I knew why they were locking me in, which made me even more uncomfortable. I couldn’t escape. What they didn’t know was this would ultimately be a problem; this year’s senior prank wasn’t going to go to plan. And it would all be my fault.

(radio, not Piper)

How the hell'd we wind up like this?
Why weren't we able
To see the signs that we missed
And try to turn the tables?

I wish you'd unclench your fists
And unpack your suitcase
Lately there's been too much of this
I don't think it's too late

Nothin's wrong
Just as long as
You know that someday I will

Someday, somehow
I'm gonna make it all right, but not right now
I know you're wondering when
(You're the only one who knows that)
Someday, somehow
I'm gonna make it all right, but not right now
I know you're wondering when...

Dan drove along the highway, his radio blasting. Suddenly his cell phone went off.
“Hello,” he had to turn down the radio so he could actually hear the person on the other line, which he soon regretted.
“What mom?” he sighed.
“Where are you? You didn’t leave a note or anything!”
“I’m going on a date, mom.”
“No your not, get your ass home immediately!” Dan hung up on her after that. His day was going from good, to bad, back to good, and straight to hell. He couldn’t take it. He’d made it this far and wasn’t turning back, not for anyone.
He knew he’d probably regret it later, but right now he didn’t really care. He wasn’t even sure his dad could convince him to come home.
Dan pulled into the parking lot and chose a space close to the door, then hoped out of his car and headed inside. When he got there, he didn’t see her, so he took a seat and ordered a drink anyway. It was still early; only being 6:30.
“Wow, I’ve been early twice in one day. That’s got to be a record,” he smiled to himself as the waitress placed his mountain dew in front of him.

*

A while after I arrived and settled in, the rest of Christian’s crew came over. I can tell their drinking by all the racket their making, sounds like some kind of party; not that I would ever know, I’ve never been invited to one.
Suddenly the basement door opens, and I hear footsteps come down the stairs. The basement door locks. This can’t be good.
But to my surprise it’s only Christian, carrying a tray of food for me. Sometimes, when he isn’t being an asshole with his friends, he can be really sweet. As he enters the room he smiles at me, scaring me a first, but then I return the favor.
Suddenly he speaks to me, almost as if he considered me human.
“If you ever need anything, anything at all, don’t hesitate to call me, alright?”
I nod my head, probably looking like an idiot, and smile. He sets the tray down on a table before me and heads back up stairs to join his posse. I’m starving and graciously dig into the food, only stopping to take the only thing keeping me alive, my medicine, and then resume to pigging out. I probably didn’t even make it halfway through the meal before my entire world went black, my body numb.

*

After about fifteen minutes of sitting alone, Dan heard a familiar voice behind him.
“Dan! I didn’t know you were coming here on your date!” Rupert said, and took a seat next to him. Now Dan remembered why Applebee’s was so fresh on his mind when it came to a restaurant; Rupert had mentioned bringing Fyd here for their six-month year anniversary.
“Great, now I get to meet this Piper chick,” Rupert smiled, and slugged Dan in the arm.
“Yeah, great.”
“Where is she, anyway?” he asked, looking around.
“She isn’t suppose to be here until seven, yet again, I’m early,” Dan sighed.
“Mate, I really need to take your temperature. That’s twice in one day, something is seriously wrong.”
“Yeah, yeah, I know.”
“Well, I’m going to go back over to Fyd now, before she threatens to kill me for harassing you, again.”
“Got to love Fyd,” Dan thought to himself and smiled. “Must thank her for that one.”
“Just do us all a favor, no snogging!” Dan retorted as Rupert walked away.
“Same for you, you hoof!”
Dan laughed as the bell to the front door rang, and someone walked in the door.

*

When I awoke the room was dark, the only light coming from a fire that had been lit in the fireplace. Though the heat from the fire was great, I still felt very cold, and exposed to the world. By entire body was numb, I could barely move my head, but eventually managed to look down at myself. Where were my clothes?
