Stargate: The Abandoned, 3, Episode Three: Darkest Knight

[RP Bennett Hall]

((Hey folks, coming to you live from Alabama!))

Hall glanced over his shoulder as Liana caught up with him. He shifted the wood from one arm to another. "Can't stay away from me there, huh, Wolfe?"

[RP-Liana-Wolfe]

(*Starts to hum "All summer long"* Singing sweet home Alabama all summer long)

Liana smiled.

"Believe what you want. But I nee-" The rest of what Liana was going to say was cut off when her foot hit a root that was sticking out of the ground causing her to drop her armload and topple to the ground.

"Ow..."

[RP Lydia Winter]

((Still in 'Bama! Yarr.))

Winter frowned and grew thoughtful as she considered Harris' request. "I suppose there's nothing wrong with you keeping his tags. A little morbid, in my opinion, but he's hardly using them anymore." She finished with the next piece of rope and looked at the amassed coils lying nearby. "I think we have enough. Let's start building with what materials we have...Hall and the others should be back with what we'll need to finish off the pyre soon enough. I want to get this over with as quickly as possible; I might not be too keen on the idea of having to go talk with those villagers, but I'm even less fond of staying here with a dead body."

[RP Chris Perkins]

Tentatively, Chris approached the two women and dropped the load within their reach.

[RP Riley Hunter]

Riley did the same, though less hesitantly than Chris. She was used to people rubbing each other the wrong way; linguists tended to get rather vocal when arguing over the exact nuances of a particular language. She would've thought he'd be used to it with McKay running around the engineering labs.

[RP- Jamie Harris]

Harris looked at the pile, then looked at the two scientists. "Thanks ya'll," she said, pulling herself up slowly. She bit on her lower lip as pain raced up and down her side , emanating from the bullet lodged in her thigh. Cursing in her head she picked out a stick that either Perkins or Hunter had brought that worked as a suitable crutch.

"Now if ya'll excuse me for a bit, I'm not givng one lick of help in building the raft itself," she motioned to the leg. "So I'm going to sit and talk to Tim for awhile."

She limped off and sat next to the body of Tim Sampson.

[RP Chris Perkins]

Chris folded his arms together as if a little cold.

"Look, I just want to get this over with. Is that so wrong? I suck at funerals almost as much as I suck at weddings. And office parties. And the entire month of December."

[RP Riley Hunter]

"No, it's not wrong." Riley replied quietly. "I've never liked funerals much either; I don't think any but the really morbid actually do. It's a reminder that one day, all that we'll have to look forward to is a fancy wooden box- or a tasteful urn, if you're cremated."

[RP Chris Perkins]

((*pokes with stick*))

((*pokes back*))

((*Points to Harris* It was her!))

((Riiight. And I'm the Queen of England. Pfft. ))

[RP Chris Perkins]

*waves Mod Stick: All necessary preparations are completed in a moving visual montage. Tim is appropriately situated just as the sun begins to set.*

[RP- Jamie Harris]

((Harris looks at Chris pointedly, and says "Your blaming me for what exactly?))

Leaning on her makeshift crutch, Harris stood off to one side of the group. Towards the front but there was still a decent gap between her and the others. Earlier, she had worked on her wound, but mostly took a handful of painkillers that she had stashed in a jacket pocket to deal with the pain. But her leg still throbbed and it needed to be treated soon or it might get infected.

Around her neck hung Tim's tags as well as her own, shining silver in the dying sunlight light. She fiddled with the new weight absent minded, her hazel eyes staring at the body of Sampson.

It was time.

((*Snorfle* A bit? Yeah, yeah, I'm just as guilty as the rest of ya, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to start the funeral/service. I've got something written up for Riley to say, but other than that... *shrugs*))

((A bit of an aside, as well as a general nudge to the community: If the Abandoned crew has been gone since before "First Strike" {That's what I gather from Techie's plot, anyways}, there should probably be some forethought as to what sort of attitudes they'll have when they return to find A) Weir gone and Woolsey in her place. Also, some thought about what sort of clothes/gear they'll have- there's only a finite amount of Earth-made bullets to be expended before they have to abandon their P-90s and such, as well as the wear-life of Earth-made fabrics in the various environments of Pegasus.

Right. I'll get off my little analytical soapbox and shush now.

((Okay, so now I'm getting frustrated. I think I've hit upon our stumbling block: the funeral. Admins: Would it be possible to handwave it and move on from there? I think that'd be a big help, and maybe we can get back into the swing of things. Just an idea.))
