Students of all year levels,
Applications are now being taken for the 2008 Student Captainships and Student Leaderships. As you are aware, Tallygarunga prides itself on the student leadership team, running through all year levels.
Student Captains will be from sixth or seventh year only, and Student Leaders will be selected one from each year level.
Duties of the Student Captain are as follows: - To be welcoming, and supportive of new staff and students. - To coordinate the student leadership team throughout Tallygarunga. - To be available and willing to assist students in difficulties, including approaching professors on behalf of others. - To pass on the wants and needs of the student body, as they are advised of them.
Student Captains will be provided with an office to share in the Gawler Building, and two will be selected if enough applicants prove worthy.
Student Leaders will be selected one from each year level, in order to provide students of all year levels with the opportunity to discuss with their peers any difficulty or suggestions they may have for the school community.
Duties of the Student Leader are as follows: - To be welcoming, and supportive of new staff and students. - To be available and willing to assist students in difficulties, including approaching professors on behalf of others - or approaching the Student Captains as necessary. - To pass on the needs and wants of the student body as necessary.
We, the staff, expect to find the following qualities in any student applying for a captaincy or leadership position.
- Friendliness - Proven success in school work - Willingness to be involved - Good rapport with staff, and other students - An open mind, and acceptance of others
We expect that all chosen students will uphold the school rules, the beliefs of Tallygarunga, and assist in maintaining the school as a friendly and open place to be. Application forms may be found below. Those of you who choose to apply, the staff and I wish you all the best.

Out of Character Note: The leadership positions are, yes, very shiny. But they do also come with OOC responsibility. We are not only expecting you to mention that your character gets along nicely with all the new students, and helps them about the school - we're expecting you to be involved in the board, and encourage others to do so.
We will be looking favourably on anyone who has already been doing so.
If you believe it is 'not for you' to post with new members, to assist and help them about the boards, then this position is not for you. Student leadership IC relates to board leadership OOC - and we will demote the characters of players who do not respect both sides of the responsibility.
But really. Is it hard to make people feel welcome, and post with a range of different players? Thought not.

Hey Guys,
Professor Ria Dempsey, some of you may know me from Herbology class or you may not, but I'm here to totally encourage all you students out there to try out for the School Leadership positions if for nothing else than to stop my little brother getting his hands on the power for all our sakes. Nobody wants to see that!
I expect to see a heap out you strutting down the halls keeping your fellow student body in line because we Professor can’t be everywhere at once and opposed to common opinion’s we don’t have eyes and ears in the wall yet. That’s why we need you guys to help us out big time with this.
It’s a great opportunity for the lucky selected candidates so get your applications in ASAP so we can all have some fun with it.
