Hey there all!
Yes, it's about time Mousie did an admin update. Hush. In this issue: What's happening over summer? What's new at Tallygarunga, and an update on the advertising push. I'd just first like to say a great big Happy Holidays to everyone, whatever you're celebrating, and wish the best of new years to all.

2008 means Tallygarunga is coming up to it's second birthday in July, something we can all be very proud of. When I restarted the board under the name Tallygarunga, I never imagined it would still be running today - and it's you guys who make the board. In particular, I thank the core group of members - you know who you are - my wonderful administrative helpers (yes, plural!) Silverwolf and Vlad, and I hope that all the newbies we've taken on will take the time to become as dedicated and involved as those who have helped make Tally what it is today.

But enough of Mousie's sentimental end-of-year rubbish.

Tallygarunga and the Summer Holidays...
Sounds like a title for a dodgy movie, no? Well, here's the deal. We're running to real time, so classes will not be running until late January. Yep, that's right kids - a break from those nasty professors! But because we all love the school so very much, here's what wer'e going to do.

Right now: Finish up those term four threads! Get into Christmas, New Years.. etc.
Once you have no more term four threads: You may again roleplay on school grounds. But you MUST make sure you make reference to it being holidays. The school will remain open as a boarding house for international students, though locals to Narrie may wander in and out to visit.
By January 15: You may not make any more holiday threads. Sorry if you missed the chance - but we need to get ready for term one, 2008!
By January 22: Holiday threads must be completely finished for archiving, and professors will commence posting new classes.

Make sure you stick to that timeline. The three of us hate chasing after people and hounding you to get threads finished. It's hard when people are still playing the beginning of the holidays, when it's really at an end. So be nice, and keep on top of it all.

Oh, I smell a Celebration...
We've decided not to go with a New Years or Christmas party this year. Instead, we're kickstarting the school year with an Australia Day celebration. The exact dates for this will be posted later. It does, however, make it all the more important that you keep things moving at a reasonable pace.. to give you more time to celebrate IC, of course!

Looks like Mousie's been fiddling with the board again....
Oh, and she has. We've got new forums, canon characters, brand spiffing new application forms and everything darlings! Here's the rundown.

    Forums
    - Lausler Park and subforums, the very upperclass area of Narragyambie.
    - Australian Continent, featuring locations outside of Victoria.
    - The Australian and Victorian Ministries of Magic, for all your ministry needs!
    - Additions to Koonyah, cause a graveyard - fun as it was - was a little morbid!

    Canon Characters
Create Me! Character Requests has now become Tally Canons & Character Requests, the link is above in the Welcome Box. I had a few bright spark ideas for new characters, and thought I'd share my inspiration. If you're interested in making a new character, head on over and see if anything is to your taste.

New Application Forms & Rule Format
They're just spiffy. If you want, or you're bored, feel free to edit your application to match the new format. Because Mousie loves it. It looks snazzy. Rules have also be reformatted, they're mighty perdy.

Are we Awesomesaucy?
Some of you have replied to my call for member ideas, and thanks for all that did! Anyone who still has ideas cooking, head over and voice your opinion! But one of the things that came out, was the call for competitions of some sort. Most other things we were able to incorporate pretty easily, but as I dislike CotM... competitions are more difficult.

However. The most awesome Panda at RPGD, and admin of Aeternus Sapentia: Memento Mori, showed us her version of board competition.

Basically, there is a thread for the Awesomesauce Awards. Players can be nominated for just about anything, be it the single thread, or a post... whatever. If one player thinks that player wrote the 'Sappiest Post Ever', they post it in the Awesomesauce Awards thread, with a link. And then everyone can look-see.

This sort of system depends on YOU. Are YOU prepared to put in what's required to keep it moving? Will YOU take the time to nominate other players and threads? It's all very well for admin to do it, but then it gets boring. We'll nominate, of course, but it loses all the fun if we're the only ones doing it.

So - yay or nay for Awesomesauce? Let me know.

I think that's it for this update, though I'll probably think of something again later. But for now, cheers and love.. let me know what you think of all that, don't forget to post your adoration of us admins, and the board in general... we never tire of hearing how awesome we are.

Yours,
Mousie.

Yay! I think it's a good idea. It would be amusing, but also a way to recognise the many talented RPer's on the board. For instance, 'most improved' for people who are beginners when they come here and actively improve their writing. I've seen it happen and it's impressive! They deserve recognition.

Anyway, YAY! YAY I say! (why don't I go eat some hay. I can make things out of clay, or lay by the bay, I just may. Whaddya say?) haha, sorry couldn't resist.

The awards are always great fun to do - on another site I got "most likely to blow up herself (and the world) with her wand" tongue.gif It would be great if they happened.
