Some Toyota news for this week
4E-FTE ENGINES ENDANGERED A talk with one parts supplier has come up with the unfortunate information that the 4E-FTE engine is now offically on the rare list. This already high demand motor has been quitely heading up in price as local stocks drop. The two main issues are price and availability. The stocks of this engine have been slowly dwindling as it has been out of production from '96. The newer version of the 4EFTE found in the EP91 Glanza was not made in huge numbers and is just as rare and in demand as the vehicle itself in Japan. Even worse Jamaican parts suppliers have been facing stiff competition from the European 'grey market' importers for a while now and strong Euro has been a huge bonus for the more 'cashy' European dealers.
TOYOTA BOOSTS US LINEUP While the Celica and MRS have been dropped from the Toyota lineup, Toyota performance seems doomed stateside making the performance parts overflow necessary in Jamaica look even more dim. Local ZZ owners may have to step up their performance purchases before the market disappears, but the Scion brand has been a sales riot for Toyota, with the xB leading hard. Not willing to see money go, competitors Nissan and Honda have announced that their Microvans will be making it to the US next model year. The Nissan Cube and the Honda FIT are seen as direct compeition for the Scion brand, but Toyota shot back by saying it will be bringing the Vitz RS Turbo. The 1500cc turbo car will be available for late 2005. Can you say Vitz parts on ebay.
