tried a few filters...from a hks in box filter to a mushroom filter

best feel was the khs free flow filter....the mushroom filter wasnt bad either wid the exception that the sponge material kept disentegrating an i dont think thats good 4 the engine

Used HKS Mushroom . K&N Cone , and Generic Brand Cone.

HKS Mushroom is a No No if you have excissive engine heat, goin melt like marshmello sleep.gif
K&N ok but at $4000+ a filter its rather expensive.
Generic Brand (K&N Replica) Gets the job dun well, and at $800 can be easily replaced.

It's hard to beat a K&N filter. Yes, it's more expensive than the rest, but with good reasons:

1. More CFM flow. A K&N filter usually flows more CFM than generic filters of the same size.
2. Wide range of sizes available. K&N makes filters of different surface areas, inlet sizes etc.
3. Build quality. Hard to argue with ths point. K&N filters last longer because of higher quality. Generic filters have... generic quality.

i did some research and the blitz sus filter seems to be good ... from the test the hks mushroom allowed the most dirt through. I'll try to find the link again

K&N Filters are the best bet for the money. They allow more air flow, olus trap more foriegn particles than the other foam filters. Plus foam filters are susceptible to heat and become brittle and crack.

Well before I bought my cone considered the various types and read an article will post here when I find it rolleyes.gif but all in all the Apexi Power intake came out on top . The manufacturer says it's a lifetime filter with a dry type filter element, suggesting no or very little maintainance. In the test the Apexi yielded the best filtration / HP gain result second in line was the K&N. I'm in love wub.gif with the Apexi though have no complaints thus far .

As far as I'm concerned the best one is the one that fits. I hate the flopping around engine bay thing. Had a MechaGodzirra inbox metal turbo filter, worked fine until I upgraded to the 5E. Used a HKS I had lying around from Miami, but the heat killed that. Got a generic cone type, but had to tie strap it because it kept floping about. I think I gave it to SuperStrut after I got my SARD EX Sports Filter. It looks like a K&N, but is a paper type element. Its a bitch to keep clean and sucks up anything from my engine bay.

I came with proper mounting pieces and that was that. It fit, it works.

I bought the kit for $140.00 US that came with all the pipes and mounting brackets to make it fit and stay steady in the engine bay. have sen the filters being sold for $60 US up ... if you want you could buy the filter alone and have everything else fabricated around it biggrin.gif
