Le Mascarade
A RPG based in modern-day France with a 1700s supernatural twist. A Mistress reigns over the city in the former palace of King Louis in Versailles and strange events of her past seem to be haunting her once more. The city is modernized, the twenty-first century booming, but there's more of Casi's past around than she's exactly willing to accept.

The vampires are no longer a species of nightmares and stories, but rather real-life creatures that go BUMP! in the night. Hunters are pursuing the undead, lycanthropes are forging alliances amongst the living and the undead, and the Master of France is no longer the hidden ruler it used to be. Casi's name is known. Well-known. For better or for worse.

Step into her world. Into modern-day France, and see for yourself. Where will your allegiance fall?

Not everybody knew what it was like living through the French revolution. Not everyone was allowed in the King’s palace, even as a measly slave-maiden and peon. Non, but this Mistress did. She lived as a servant to King Louis, residing within Versailles for as long as she could. She was human then. At the time, Casi was trying to make due with the meager rations of bread and cheese for both herself, and her ailed mother. Her father had been a lost memory for many years, but still two mouths was too many. She was another face in the crowd- another dirt covered, brick in the wall. Non, her name was known, or so she soon realized. Beckoned by the King to wait before him she was given a proposition- to help decorate for the upcoming Masquerade ball. It was not a problem for the creative young woman, for many hours into the night, Casi sketched designs in her leather-bound journal. Complying, for to do otherwise was simply not proper, she began her work late into the night.

The ballroom looked simply exquisite, more than one could have ever imagined, and pleased Casi herself. Disappearing into the maid’s quarters in the wee hours of morn, she waited for the King to begin the ball that evening. The ball commenced after many hours of waiting, and she was of course not in attendance. The room was decorated in velvets of the richest amethyst and the darkest of ebony silks- colors preferred by she and the King’s madams. It wouldn’t last long, for that evening a tragedy occurred. The large chandelier, untouched by all for it was prized by the King, fell from the ceiling. Of course Casi was the first suspected for she was the one to prepare the room, and so she and her mother fled to preserve her innocence. There was no such luck however, for as the duo tried to disappear into the night, the night captured Casi itself.

The young woman awoke the following day, lying beside her mother’s bled-out corpse in a dark, damp and cold room. Movement was to no avail, for her body was chained to the wall. The motion brought contact with the metal surrounding her wrists and a scream was emitted from her lips. Biting down on her lip in fear as her voice echoed, she bled herself. It was only then the grim reality was noted- she was the undead. Her body quaked uncontrollably with the need to feed, the need for blood, and only after many hours as darkness came to the above-ground world, was she freed. The guard that came to her was no human, and as the faint candlelight revealed his face, she realized it was the King himself. A sinister grin left his fanged mouth upon releasing Casi’s body to the cold floor, and before her dry mouth could form words, his body disappeared into the shadows.

Casi made her way to the main palace, searching for anyone or anything she could, but came to no avail. The palace was empty. The King and his wife gone, and the palace was abandoned forevermore. Now, it is believed to be haunted, the palace of Versailles, but only Casi knows for sure. The spirit of her mother is believed to live within the depths of the torture chamber, occasionally rapping at the stone walls and causing reverberating echoes to travel through the many chambers. It is electrified, the entire palace, and Casi has full reign of what occurs within the walls. She has become the Master of France, and reigns where her life both began and ended. It is the twenty-first century, and the past can never seem to escape her. Voices echo through the palace and strange things seem to keep happening. Is Casi alone within the palace, or is there more hidden within Versailles than King Louis revealed?
