the city's first municipal cemetery was opened in the year nineteen-fourteen and house several famous grave sites. over the years it has become a ritual of sorts for teens to stay overnight in the cemetery to prove they are not afraid of any ghosts that might haunt the hallowed grounds.

this public park houses both tokyo tower and the buddhist temple zojoji. there are several footpaths for walking, offering incredible views of the tower. this has made the park a popular location for dates and picnics. also located in this area is the shiba palace garden, now open to the public.

considered by and large to be one of the trendiest shopping districts in tokyo, harajuku is often crowded and filled with a wide variety of shops. one never knows what they will find when walking down the street. should one be in need of a gift or two, this is the place to start.

well known for it's night life, this district is also home to foreign embassies and members of the wealthy class. the name literally means six trees, and is often crowded with foreigners and party-goers each and every night.

this area of minato-ku can be likened to a restaurant row. it is here that one can find a multitude of places to eat at, ranging from local ethnic cuisine, to foreign ventures from the fast food industry. every year the district hosts an annual food festival, bringing in hoards of locals and tourists from all around tokyo.

considered one of the highest peaks in tokyo, mount atago is known far and wide for the atago shrine located on the mountain. it has become a popular center for retreats for many businesses, and a nice vacation spot for several families around the city. in order to get to the shrine, however, one must walk up very steep steps.

here lies the waterfront of the minato-ku. many warehouses can be found at the wharf, and a large number of men and women work in the area during the daytime, unloading and reloading barges bringing goods back and forth across the sea.

about thirty miles outside of tokyo is kamakura beach, a popular destination in july and august for many of tokyo's citizens. tourists will abound in the warmer months, though the cooler seasons are good for hunting for sea-shells, wading in the water, and enjoying the sea air.
