It had been a few days since Asthosk had hatched and bonded to her handler Asthore. It still took the boy some getting used to and the first day he had been with her he had tried to get her up during the day though she stubbornly refused and went back to sleeping. He of course was awaken in the night by a hungry and itching wher who wanted to be fed, washed, and played with. He sleepily agreed and had a rude awakening when the wher butted her handler into the cold water to wake him up, they of course got into a water battle with Asthosk winning and her drenched handler laughing and hugging his wher in the shallows.
They had moved into an unused room in the Storage caverns which were basically deeper and under the weyr almost. It was dark enough for Asthosk and it was pretty quiet. He sometimes felt lonely down there, but his wher was with him at all times so it made up for the lack of human life in the lower caverns. His mother seemed uneasy about the green wher and her dragon absolutely hated the thing saying openly that it was an abomination and should've died in the egg. Thankfully Asthosk had been off chasing a crawler so she didn't hear what the dragon said, only noticed how angry and upset the boy suddenly became which she instantly came back to comfort her handler though she was confused as to why he was so upset.
His father actually seemed rather interested in the wher and was more easy going around it than his mother was. The blue he rode was merely amused at the wher's antics and curious about the creature. They could only meet this young wher at night, but they had eagerly all agreed to meet his life partner though Melvanesse and his mother had left shortly after. His father had reached out to touch the wher who didn't seem to shy away from the hand, but had looked up at Asthore in question and he had murmured gently to her, assuring her that he was a good man. She had allowed the man to touch her though she pressed herself up against Asthore's leg the entire time.
Asthore sighed in his sleep and rolled over, he had decided from the first night in the lower caverns that his wher could sleep on his bed with him. She seemed rather happy with that, but didn't like when he shifted too much. It was night finally and the wher opened her lamp like eyes and yawned before getting up and lightly jumping down from the bed. Her wings opened as if to help her glide, but she had found out from the first time she had tried this that her wings would not support her, so she merely did it out of reflex. She landed and turned around with a huff as she realized her handler had not yet risen. She chirped at him before warbling loudly to get his attention, but he slept on obliviously. She snorted and trotted over to the bed and took the edge of his fur into her mouth and roughly tugged it off his body, though the momentum carried her head over tail and caused her to become trapped in the fur. She squealed in surprise and tried to find her way out of the fur.
The sudden gush of cold air and his wher's squeal woke him instantly and he jerked up. He blinked a few times and waited for his eyes to adjust to the dim lighted room. He was allowed to have one small glow in the room and that was it with Asthosk, she would not allow anymore light and he knew why so he had one that gave minimal lighting to the room. He looked down and stared at the dark mass of fur on the ground that wiggled and chirped. He laughed softly and moved from his bed and knelt on the ground.
A green snout and muzzle poked out from the edge and sniffed slightly. "Asthosk." Asthore crooned and the muzzle moved up slightly in the direction of the sound, wiggling to try and get out so she could see her handler. He reached out and lifted the edge of the fur to see his wher staring at him. She trilled happily at the sight of him and started to move forward out of the dark cave she had become trapped in and directly into his arms and lap. She nuzzle his hair and snorted messing it up before nibbling softly on the shoulder of his rumpled shirt he wore to bed. He knew whenever she nibbled on his clothes that she wanted to be fed and he hugged her close. "Don't worry dear, I'll feed you...can I first get dressed?" He asked her and she stared up at him, blinking her lamp like eyes before backing out of his embrace and going to examine the now deflated cave she had been trapped in. She rolled around on it and even pounced on it a few times while the boy changed quickly into some clothes. He still felt tired after just a few days of trying to get used to this new sleeping schedule, but it certainly wasn't as bad as the first day. He felt like he had been run over by a dragon when Asthosk made him wake up. He smiled at his wher as he ran his fingers quickly through his hair and moved to gently pat her dark stomach that was exposed as she wiggled around on the fur. "Come on love, lets get you some food." He opened the door to their room and she flipped herself over and ran out of the room, bugling and warbling happily as she did so.
