Vudu was, to put it bluntly, incredibly bored. Her chores were done for the day, and it was just coming to be mid afternoon, there were so many candle marks left in the day that she had no idea what to do with herself. Most of the other candidates hardly had a brain in their heads, if they did she would not be sitting alone like she was doing right now. So Vudu sighed and slapped her hand down affectionately along Bartholomew's muscular back, the dog lifting his head from the sands with a few wags of his tail before he flopped back down, lazy just like she was feeling. Vudu could only shake her head with a small chuckle to the dog's antics, noting how he and Beastie were getting along splendidly, the small green curled up on the large dog's shoulder, dozing contentedly.
But now that she had some time off, Vudu in her boredom was soon taking up thinking, leaning back on her elbows as the bright sunlight glinted off of her mocha form. 'Dat man said dat some dragons may die.' She thought to herself as she leaned her head back, a frown appearing on her features. 'And dat we would haff'ta protect dems, save dem from certain death. If so, den why did some not sign deir names?' That very question had been rolling around her head ever sense the signing of their names, her frown furthering into a scowl before she shook her head and wiped it away. 'Pah, cowards, de lot of 'em.' That was that, Vudu had made up her mind, there were two kinds of people in the world, ones that would sign, and ones that would not. Act or stand by, she was happy that she had signed though, perhaps her life needed some greater good. Pillaging merchant ships from the north was always a good life to have on the sea, as she had done so in her own past, but now was time for change, she just hoped one of the few beautiful eggs she had 'chosen' for herself would find her good enough. If not, then she'd go back to her home, to the sea. |

A green dragon flew overhead, gliding gracefully down towards the shore. Seeing a girl on the beach, Uskyth threw in a fancy twirl, hoping to impress the human. F'reln tightened his grip on his dragon's neck ridge. Careful, Uskyth! No straps! he admonished her, but she just snorted. Obviously she would never drop her F'reln!
She landed in the sand, then waited for her rider to dismount before prancing into the water. F'reln smiled as he watched his dragon frolic among the waves. Then he remembered the girl, and blushed a little, realizing that he must have had the most ridiculous dreamy expression on his face. "Hello there. I'm F'reln, and that's Uskyth," he introduced himself, smiling at her. She was a candidate, he noticed, glancing at her knots. He'd have to ask her what she thought about this mysterious clutch, if he got a chance. "I'm going to give her a bath. You're welcome to help if you'd like." |

Turning her head up, Vudu caught sight of the green that carefully and flamboyantly flew overhead. It was still a breath taking sight, to see such a magnificent creature living in the world it was born for, Vudu simply loved watching dragons fly. And while she was a woman of the sea, she could not help but yearn for the feeling that flight must have been, she hoped that she had a partner within the hardening shells of the clutch, she really did.
But when the green touched down and pranced into the water, a small smile drew up on her face as she watched the silly creature and her seemingly doey eyed rider staring at her with the most dreamy expression she had ever seen. It was almost enough to try and get a chuckle out of her, but Vudu's serious nature quickly pushed that thought away and instead she just continued to smile, Bartholomew's small growl only registering into her head when the rider turned and the dog turned more protective. "Hush naw' ya brute." She calmly stated as she shook her head, thumping the dog on the side with her hand, a gentle reprimand that quickly had the hound silencing as they both watched the rider take a few steps forward, then finally invite them over. "Hey dere, Ah'm Vudu, dis is Bartholomew, and dis is Beastie," she respectfully responded, gesturing to each of her creatures in turn, stroking the heads of each as she said their names. Though the moment the rider, F'reln, invited her to help clean the dragon, she instantly perked up, carefully getting to her feet as her gaze slid to the green playing in the waves. Yet again the sneaking urge to smile hit her, and this time she let the expression slide onto her face. "Ah'd love to!" Chirping her excitement, the girl quickly blinked, then cleared her throat, shuffling somewhat in awkward embarrassment at her excitement. "Ah mean, if you would be so kind to allow that is." Vudu added as an after thought, she had to maintain her hard external self after all. But the invitation was to great to pass up, so she smiled again, then took a few long strides to come up by the rider, curious eyes laying on the dragon again. |
