The Weyr was mostly quiet at night. Few dragonriders weren't exhausted by the end of the day, especially since there were so few of them. Thus, none of them seemed eager to stay awake longer than necessary.
But not everyone had jobs to do all the time, or thread to worry about. Candidates like Brienne weren't always busy and often became bored. That was why she was out this late, actually. She wasn't tired at all and hadn't had anything to do all day. To tell the truth, she wasn't even sure why she'd gone to the storage caverns of all places. It wasn't like there was anything interesting there. Well, it was better than hanging about in the barracks. Perhaps she'd sneak some extra food or something...or find some other treasure that no one else had noticed. There wasn't a lot of food there after all (most of the food-related items were in ingredient-form) and the place looked just as dull as everything else lately. Brienne groaned loudly and plopped herself down on a sack of flour. This sent up a disgustingly large cloud of dust and flour residue, causing her to cough. She rolled off of the flour-sack and onto the even dirtier floor. Her hands were now covered with dust and other things. When was the last time anyone had cleaned in here? She supposed their annoying candidate master would task them with that sooner or later... Recovering from the sudden ihalation of the dust, she rose and then sat back down on the sack, her head in her hands. Why was this place soooo boring? |
