WELCOME
The world is heading for change.
It's the year 1880, and things have never moved faster. For the bulk of it's existence Sweetwater has been immune to the change that has struck the north and descended onto Dallas. Nestled deep back into the Texas Hill Country on the banks of Sweetwater river, the valley keeps things slow and the bulk of industrialization at bay hiding off a little peace of heaven from what would be the grinding gears of process. Ask anyone in the area and they'll tell ya. There ain't no place like Sweetwater and there ain't no prettier land in Texas.

Join us here in Sweetwater where the booze never stops, and the change keeps rolling. Join as a canon or an original if they more suits your fancy. When things head west- you can always be certain- there's going to be hell to pay.

"Well my goodness gracious let me tell you the news
My head's been wet with the midnight dew
I've been down on bended knee talkin' to the man from Galilee
He spoke to me in the voice so sweet
I thought I heard the shuffle of the angel's feet
He called my name and my heart stood still"

`BASIC INFO

Name: Amelia Burns
Nicknames: none
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Position/Occupation/crime/etc: Doctors Assistant and barmaid
Marital Status: Widow

Physical Description:
Amelia can be best described as delicate appearing with a small, whispy frame that sets her apart from the more buxom women that seem to parade along the streets of Sweetwater. Pale with blonde hair, she has the look and feel of a northerner- even if she has been around Sweetwater for close to two years. Sure, it's really a strange thing, but from her walk to the way she does her hair is north in nature even if slowly she's loosing her yankee habbits. While she lacks the funds she had previously, she takes great care in maintaining her looks; and is always absolutely certain to never leave her room without first checking a looking glass.

Her features themselves are mildly striking- if only because of the expressive nature of her bright brown eyes. Beyond that- in hair color and eye color, she is not atypical or astounding; really, generally, she was never the prettiest of girls, but certainly above the average enough to make a name for herself. Her appearance often leaves her mistaken for being a great deal younger than she really is. Generally, she chooses clothing that is easy to move and work in, but not out of fashion.

>>Eye color: Blue
>>Hair color: Blonde
>>Height: 5'2

`PERSONAL INFO

Personality:
Kind and utterly giving, Amelia does not dwell on the pains of the past, or hover too frequently over the negative that seems to sweep in on Sweetwater like carrion birds readying for a slaughter. Instead, she keeps to her pleasant disposition, offering help not only to the doctor, but to the various citizens of Sweetwater whenever it is needed. Social and outgoing, she is active in the community and is, for lack of better terms, well liked by those within the town, and out. She will not, however, tolerate cat calls and viciousness- often dismissive and very nearly rude to those that would demonstrate such rude behaviors. She might live in a boarding house- but she does still keep to the refined and lady-like mannerisms that were taught to her in the north.

A notoriously hard worker, she does everything she possibly can to help with her living costs- even going as far to work at the saloon; a task that before, in New York, would have been completely unacceptable. (then again, any kind of work would be such since she wasn't raised to work) To most, Amelia Burns hardly looks the sort that could do anything besides sit in the knitting circle witih the town ladies- but, past it all, she came to the west with every intent of owning a homestead with Alexander, and while that doesn't seem possible as of now, she has not- and refuses to- give up on that dream. Stubborn, strong willed- she may not look it, but Amelia wont back down from what she believes, nor will she settle for anything.

Of course, she does at times miss New York, finding it sometimes hard to adjust, even after 2 years, to the life she now leads. She is however generally satisfied witih things, never once offering even the beginning of a complaint. Also apparently Pious, being sure to attend church every sunday if doctor's work permits. Usually careful to stay away from the Saloon, she will go if visiting someone, or of course, providing care, she is also minding of the proper ways for a girl to act when a widow. Well respected, well liked- Amelia's personality is all around goodness and kindness in a world that seems to be heading to hell.

`PAST INFO

History:
Amelia Belmont grew up far away from the rough and wild of Sweetwater, far away in the north, in the famous city of New York. She enjoyed life with her parents- finding that the safety of the city was pleasant, though loud-- but mostly dull. She grew up learning things every proper high-society young woman should know- from how to sit upright and which silverware to use, to how to match one's earings with the sort of event you were going to. Her family was part of what is considered the 'inner circle' of New York high society- the highest of the high. Her father, Stephen Baldwin, while well known for his old money, also held the position of president at Reserves- often taking care of large-funded oil accounts and other buisness transactions.

Regardless, she enjoyed life in New York, often going to all sorts of events with her family. As she grew older, she grew disenchanted with the high life, though still kept pleasant airs. It was old news- and while she had every bit of resolve to keep her spot as one of the high-class debutants, she lacked the desire to spend her days with the other girls her age, even if they were a pleasantly interesting variety of company. Life grew exciting, however when at one of the many social events that her parents took part in she met Alexander Burns. The son of a wealthy client to her father, Alexander was in the process of learning the ins and outs of his own father's trade in the oil buisness. However, the arrival of the polite and pleasantly different Amelia provided an efficent and pleasant distraction from the constant buisness that his father wanted to talk.

Both, of course fell madly in love- their equal status in wealth making it all the more pleasing to both parties parent's. Amelia's parents glad to see their daughter ending up with a kind man that could take care of their daughter- and Alexander's family more than thankful that he had settled with a good, well respected girl from a nice family... who also happened to be a buisness partner. it was a marrage of benefit that was, for once, initiated by the young people.

Both families, however, did not at first approve of their decision following marrage. Homestead properties all the rage with the Young and well to do- and when mr Burns senior found out about the possibilities that lie in Texas, he encouraged the move. While Amelia, and in part Alexander- had no real addition to this new buisness possibility, they were more than happy with their own ideals of money made of their own sweat, Life forged in a new place.. It seemed only suiting to move west to Texas- the great frontier. Both more than glad to leave the stifling and suffocating confines of New York high society, Amelia picked the city, choosing of course a place that had a much friendlier name than some of the other locations and at the young age of 17, both madly in love with each other, and the idea of the western dream. The city itself had been suggested by Alexander's father, and Amelia gratefully accecpted. They set out as far as they could go by train, and the rest of the way on what was to become the last wagon train.

All, however, did not end well, and like so many who took the dangerous routes by wagon, illness settled in. While Amelia seemed to take to the traveling well, keeping relatively healthy.. by midway through the exploration, Alexander fell ill. Fearing the worst, the others in the train separated the young couple knowing fully well that a young woman alone with a sick husband was never healthy in so many different ways. Within two weeks of falling ill, Alexander died at the age of 20. The body was buried somewhere along the trail, and services were held as best as was possible. Life had to move on however, and while sadness and loss clutched at the heart of the 18 year old widow, eventually she arrived to Sweetwater. No Family, no real papers saying who she was- and of course.. alone. Any money she had was used to negotiate her safety since women alone was certainly a dangerous and tricky operation. She made it through however, though had lost the papers to her homestead, everything but a few dollars in cash, and her personal luggage bag.

Many stories end here in tragedy- either at saloons or Brothels, it's no unexpected story to have seen the young girl ending up in the town Brothel. This wasn't to be for Amelia, however, since her arrival brought her of course to the Sheriff's office. Near immediately finding a friend in the woman sheriff (an honest shock to Amelia) Grace offered her home for the first night, and the prospect of a suitable job. Amelia accepted, and the doctor, who'd been informed of the new addition to the town by Grace, accepted Amelia as an assistant. An intelligent and useful addition, at that. She learned quickly and accurately, surpassing the expected with every ounce of dedication she could give. Presently, she resides in the boarding house on the lowest floor and closest to the front. The loss of the previous doctor hit her hard- though she took strides in taking care of the citizens of Sweetwater the best she could with the training she had received. Due to a lack of funds or real pay, she has also taken up part time work at the Saloon in order to help pay for more things. While she does none of the singing (even if she could) she simply serves drinks and food.

he arrival of a new doctor has, however, helped her to at least relax a little.

`SAMPLE

Sample RP Post:
Really, she wasn't sure about this. At least, in her own mind. She hadn't voiced any concerns, and really, when Dr Carmichael had been busy with an ill child, she couldn't really say no, she'd not go deliever the tonic to Felix. Especially since she couldn't quite take care of sick anything like Thomas could.

So, she'd agreed to take the vial to the main house of the ranch, though made sure to make use of the horse and buggy that served as the clinic's transport. It made things faster, and honestly, with Felix Buckley's reputation.. she didn't quite feel up to sticking around to talk, if only because of the amount of talk that'd take place in town would be enough to make her slightly more nervous around the ladies club than usual.

The ride had been nice enough- the hat that she always seemed intent on wearing blocking out the harsh rays of the sun, her usual dull grey dress making things a little hotter than it should be; though she never complained. Really, it wasn't so bad- and, honestly.. the ride to the ranch was a nice set of scenery that no matter how many times she took it.. she just couldn't cease being amazed by it. She'd never been to Buckley ranch, though she'd heard that some of the prettier land was in the area- and, to be honest.. she had to agree, even when carefully making her way up the steps to the large pourch of the overly nice Main house.. she had to admit- Felix Buckley lived in the closest thing to style and class that seemed possible out here; of course, nothing like what she'd been used to up North.. but, that was hardly something she'd even begin to mention here, of all places. She took a quiet, collective breath, adjusted her hat, and knocked.

"Mr. Buckley? It's Ms Burns, from the clinic.. I have your tonic" she announced somewhat uneasily the moment she heard movement at the other side of the door.
