A cafe. Mal couldn’t help shaking his head in disgust. It wasn’t all that long ago that business meetings of those now known as the broken Taem’in were held in some of the most extravagant buildings on Taemynin. Secret dealings not quite done in secret, yet another symbol of Taem’in pride - pride that had in many ways been lost by the broken. The setting for this conversation with Evelyandra was only one sign of the changes, but one that Malchovalmar could live with. Although Earth most days felt like a shack to his home planet, there were a few things he had developed an appreciation for. Old Earth music, older books, and, most importantly, coffee. He could definitely live with this rendezvous point, even though he wouldn’t have made any such comment to ‘Evelyn’ since she already seemed to have a very exaggerated view of his sentiments toward humans, including those he was spying on. Ridiculous. His loyalty was et completely to the Taem’in, the broken Taem’in now. At least that’s what he needed Evelyandra to believe for the moment. Mal wasn’t really sure where he stood - at least, he wasn’t sure how much direct personal involvement he wanted to have when it came to actually taking over this unsuspecting planet. Behind the scenes was find, but anything involving contact could get messy and messy was something he wanted to avoid. But even that lack of dedication he wanted to keep out of Evelyandra’s knowledge for as long as possible. Keeping his options open was only playing it smart, right?

Unfortunately, Mal had nothing new to report to his chosen leader, the would-be Empress of the Taer’im. That might have been good news, since it meant that, as far as he could tell, Torchwood knew nothing of the Taer’im, nor that their newest member was not completely human. But to once again tell Evelyandra that the humans who had a chance of discovering their presence were clueless could make her suspicious. She didn’t have reason to be yet, but it was hard to tell how she would take the news. Not that he was that worried. In fact, Mal was quite able to calmly enjoy his second cup of coffee as he waited for her to arrive.
