A school in Connecticut has Banned ALL physical contact. Is it just me or does that sound seriously fubar?

Now I can see why some would be banned. One of my greatest tricks in school was to start arguing with someone and poke them in the chest when the teacher couldn't see 9 times out of 10 they took a swing at me allowing me to pummel them in "self defence". But, still all physical contact come on people the kids will just grow up to be socially inept morons.

Here's the Full Story

How would they stop people from touching? Or punish them after the fact, with their telekinetic mind powers? But the rules don't apply to administrators OH NO.

I'm assuming you're talking about me Zen. ;)

That's extremely ineffective though, I can hardly see that working.

That is retarded beyond belief. You don't punish everyone because a few students were acting stupid. You punish those few students and set an example with them. This principle obviously doesn't know a thing about running a school properly. He may have the best intentions in mind, but even an idiot would know when he's gone too far. I hope the school board forces him to repeal his absurd little rule and fires his ass.

I actually don't like when the staff acts above the rules. The staff is there to enforce rules, and what better way then to follow them yourself? It sets an example for the regular members. But I digress. That's for another topic...

Idiocy...

I got kicked in the balls when in school a lot, but I just learned to protect myself. Do you want your kids to grow up in a protective bubble? I'm sorry but there is a lot of violence in society and kids have to learn basic protective measures, within reason.

I took part in a lot of playful wrestling and ''horseplay'' over the years, I lost as much as I won, and there was always a teacher in shouting range in case things went too far.

As well as that, do you want your children not to learn basic body-language. Hi fives? Hugging? Hand shakes? Back patting? A friendly arm around the shoulder (works great to comfort if someone is feeling low), Kissing (do you want to ban students from expressing love)?
