Zanon Prime - A planet in Sector D4-677, being used as a refuge camp for some of the people of Marandan. Conditions were cramped and poor but with their homeworld laid in ruin by the Vectari, they had little choice in the matter.

Zarnac - A reptilian Beta Quadrant species and one of the areas resident super powers. The USS Endeavour UEV-001 made first contact in 2380, barely avoiding an all out conflict. Despite a heated first meet, the Zarnac later became somewhat loose allies, assigning their own ambassador to the starship, Athon. The empires activities quieted in 2381 as a result of a raging civil war. Though the war has since ended, the Zarnac Empire has yet to fully recover its military strength. As a result, Starfleet theorized that the massive energy readings coming from Sector D4-677 might draw the Zarnacs attention. With this in mind, Corey Barton (the senior-most available crew member from the Endeavour) was assigned to the USS Intrepid NCC-53421. This occurance, thankfully, never materialized.
