Personal History:

Duo grew up as an orphan on the wartorn colony L2-V02229, a run down space station type of colony orbiting one of the Cardassian borderworlds. The colony was set up much like a Dyson Sphere, only it had a large power plant in the center instead of having been constructed around a small star.

He spent most of his earlier years as part of a child gang on the streets. He eventually ended up at the Maxwell Church Orphanage. Father Maxwell, the priest in charge, sent Duo to school for a while. However, Duo wasn't much of a student and had a tendancy to get into fights and cut class. He wouldn't let the nun, Sister Helen, cut his hair and he often got teased for the braid. Duo didn't take well to being teased when he was younger and often fought back, usually winning the fight and hurting the other student.

As the fighting continued on the colony, the Church became a shelter for soldiers of both sides. A fight broke out in the Church and Helen sent Duo to get help. Before he could get back, the Church had been attacked and destroyed, putting Duo back on the streets.

Still only a young boy, Duo did what he could to survive, stealing what he needed. He was caught a few times, but the last time, he was caught stowing away on a research vessel. They gave him a choice. Die or pilot their new weapon. Duo went with piloting the new weapon.

A few years passed until the giant, humanoid fighting suit was ready to launch. Unknown to Duo, there were four others to be launched at the same time. Duo eventually met up with them through the rebellion they were fighting. Realizing they all had to work together, Duo found himself an integral part of a group for the first time since he had left Maxwell's Church.

Several times, Duo was captured and 'interrogated' by enemy forces. He suffered several injuries each time, but did not usually give himself the chance to completely heal afterwards. As a result, he has a recurring rib injury that's sensitive to impact. Duo quickly learned to compensate and doesn't allow the injury to affect his overall performance.

After the wars were over, the Terra-II system (as they had started to call themselves) entered an era of peace. They held off outside attacks for two years on their own before finally joining the Federation. Now 18, Duo and several others, who found themselves restless in a time of peace for their world, joined Starfleet.

It turned out that he had quite a technical mind and excelled in Engineering and Ordinance. Being only an enlisted crewman, Duo wasn't eligible to be a pilot right off, and he didn't like the idea of going back to school. So, he put the idea on the back burner for the time being. Instead, he went for fighter maintenance, figuring,
if he couldn't fly 'em, he'd fix 'em. Of course, Duo never lost his love of flying and occasionally can be found 'borrowing' a simulator on the Flight Decks.

He later went through the Academy training program on the Endeavour in order to become a full fledged pilot. Duo had difficulty due to his lack of previous education and it took him longer than normal to complete the program. However, he made passing grades and got commendations on his seemingly natural piloting skills. He graduated with his commission just after the Endeavour returned to Earth, finishing his last month at Starfleet Academy on Earth.

Medical/Psychological Report

Duo was extremely uncomfortable and uncooperative during his psychological evaluation. It has been recommended that he continue counseling, but his performance does not seem to suffer from anything relating to his lack of cooperation, so it is not required.

Duo has an excellent constitution against illness. He apparently suffered some sort of rib injury as a teenager, but his medical records from his home system are difficult to locate. The injury does not seem to hamper his movement at all, though extreme stress of the area can cause Duo to black out.
