I remember it well. I was teenager living in Alaska (Elmendorf, Air Force Base outside Anchorage). At that time all television was delayed: football games were a week old, the 6 o'clock news was more than 5 hours old, etc... Anyway, it was through the intervention of Senator Mike Gravel (who later went nuts and tried to run for president, but I digress) that the Air Force coughed up a portable satellite link that let us get the CBS feed live. So I was able to hear Uncle Walter's stately tones proclaiming "Man on the Moon!"
