Here we go:

QUOTE
Big things to come in small package

Nintendo, the world leader in video game innovation, stated loud and clear that they are not to be overlooked in the next generation home console race with the revelation of several unique features of the company's next console system, code name Revolution, to key media outlets. According to the early information, Revolution will combine powerful technology and gaming-focused features in Nintendo's smallest home game console yet.

In its final form, Revolution will be about the thickness of three standard DVD cases and only slightly longer. The versatile Revolution will play either horizontally or vertically, allowing the user total flexibility in setting up a gaming session wherever they have a television.

Thanks to Nintendo's hardware development partners IBM and ATI, the small system will be packed with power that will enable it to wow players with its graphics. Nintendo's legions of loyal fans will be happy to learn that Revolution will be backward compatible, playing both Nintendo GameCube 8cm disks along with its own 12cm optical disks in the same self-loading media drive.

In the next generation, the addition of the Internet will be important to all consoles and particularly important to Nintendo. Revolution will be wireless Internet ready out of the box.

There's much more to Revolution that will be revealed over the coming months, but the combination of its compact size, wireless Internet, backward compatibility, quick start-up time and quiet, low-power operation add up to the start of a great game system. Get ready for the Nintendo Revolution in 2006!

So far I'm very unimpressed with their "next-gen" console. But they have a slight possibility of coming out with something interesting. IMO, Nintendo's on it's last limb and it's going to have to fight the hardest to gain it's respect as a console maker back.

And the design = Uninspired. Just bland.

gotenks992 - June 6, 2005 09:49 PM (GMT)
Nintendo isn't out yet. They beat PSP and PS2 in a week with the release of Nintendogs in Japan and selling DS for it. Plus online mode and stuff plus wireless internet. Nintendo won't be out yet.

Khse - June 6, 2005 10:47 PM (GMT)
Yeah. lol At least in the handheld market they aren't out. The GBA alone has sold more copies than the "almighty" PS2. Downloading classic games will attract more adults that played those when they were kids. WiFi will be free while Sony and Microsoft will both be charging monthly. So, actually, I think they will have a great chance of success!

gotenks992 - June 7, 2005 01:05 PM (GMT)
Of course the classic wills plus as you said the DS has outsolde the PSP and PS2 together. They were both in 20,000 I think and DS is at like 40 000.

Infectious_Twilight - June 7, 2005 01:19 PM (GMT)
Well of course the DS will outsell right now. It's brand new. Where as the PS2's been around for awhile.

Ps2 has reached a total so far of 90 million users worldwide.
I think the PS1 to date has only sold 110 million so.
GBA SP has sold 5.17 Million units to date
Gamecube 14.57 million

As for numbers on the DS and PSP not sure.

But I really don't care about Handheld market. As far as Console market, Nintendo's going to have a lot to do to get back the respect they once had. They are....quickly becoming the next Sega.

And I'm sorry, but the D/L'ing of the classics is just kinda sad. And as for the comment about the amount of downloading expected, I wouldn't guarantee it. Rehashes of old games don't usually go well in the sales market. Gamers, new and old, want new games. Not old ones. (though, I admit it was wise of them to include backwards compatibility)

gotenks992 - June 7, 2005 07:06 PM (GMT)
The DS really only sold fast because of the Nintendogs realease in Japan and they're releasing like another two which will boost the sales of the Nintendo DS.

Infectious_Twilight - June 7, 2005 07:57 PM (GMT)
Not to be mean, but the japanese market isn't quite so big as it is over here. Sales matter more over here than anywhere else. Granted, sales in japan do determine a slight factor of a consoles worth though (xbox = example).

gotenks992 - June 7, 2005 08:01 PM (GMT)
I never said they were a big factor here. It's just I guess so Nintendogs looks so good over there that everyone must have it I'm not saying it will have the same effect over here when it's released.

Infectious_Twilight - June 7, 2005 08:11 PM (GMT)
Ack, I didn't mean it to completely sound like that. I dunno, just looking at the DS games (played a few that a friend let me borrow) I'm not impressed with it either. IMO, it's just another gimmick *shrugs*

gotenks992 - June 7, 2005 08:15 PM (GMT)
True most of the DS games are like remakes pretty much like ACDS. But the thing is the DS will be going online to which many Nintendo fans want starting with mario kart DS being the first online.

Infectious_Twilight - June 7, 2005 08:20 PM (GMT)
I'm not going near the online thing cause well....
Let's just say I have a PC to play online games for =)

gotenks992 - June 7, 2005 08:24 PM (GMT)
Yes true but I heard it's suppose to be free or something.

Infectious_Twilight - June 7, 2005 08:33 PM (GMT)
Supposedly, Sony's aiming for that free online thing as well. Though, for a complete game that's not easy, as you've got server costs and such to go through. And charging more for a game than you would naturally isn't cost effective.

Like I said, I think it's silly, this online thing. Especially, the "Xbox Live changed the way we game thing". Can we say ROFLMAO. PC's have been doing online gaming for quite a while longer than Xbox has. IMO, their just thinking this cause before PS2, and Xbox gaming just wasn't "cool" or "trendy'. Tch...

gotenks992 - June 7, 2005 08:36 PM (GMT)
True we are not sure if they are trying to do that to but I guiess Nintendo is doing that because they need to stay in competition.

Well isn't most pc games made by Microsoft?

Infectious_Twilight - June 7, 2005 08:37 PM (GMT)
*falls over* Most PC games made by MS? *dies* Ever heard of Blizzard? Lionhead? *thinks* There are a few others out there, I just can't remember them!

Hardly, I think MS makes up maybe 5-15% of the PC game market, though I'm not sure on that. I know they release a few games here and there. But right now the PC market is mostly new coming PC game developers.

gotenks992 - June 7, 2005 08:42 PM (GMT)
Sorry didn't know since Microsoft is a computer company.
True since MS is more focus of the Xbox 360.

gotenks992 - June 7, 2005 09:14 PM (GMT)
Some more info I found from IGN

Khse - June 8, 2005 07:43 PM (GMT)
The Revolution, PS3, and the x-Box 360 will all have their downfalls( especially the 360 ^_^ ). I don't think that Microsoft is going to win over Japan just because they have a few RPG developers. Nintendo will keep its followers( The Zelda/Mario fans ). And Sony will keep its. All of the consoles will have their hits and bad games. It is just natural. No console is perfect, nor will they ever be.

gotenks992 - June 8, 2005 07:46 PM (GMT)
True but I don't think 360 and PS3 will be popular in Japan since most people in Japan are more Nintendo fans anyways.

The GBA alone has sold more copies than the "almighty" PS2.

Watch your tongue and back up your facts before stating something like that.
Ps2 is the 2nd highest selling console in the industry, period. Ps1 is the 1st. (Not including past gen consoles and handhelds, as I've no idea on their numbers)

And as for Japan having a higher Nintendo base...no.

Khse - June 26, 2005 04:33 PM (GMT)
At the press conference, Nintendo said that is would come Wi-Fi ready.

gotenks992 - June 26, 2005 07:50 PM (GMT)
Yep and but you have to buy the thing to play DVDs on the system.

I have more information on games and stuff for the system I'll post them up later.

Khse - June 26, 2005 09:20 PM (GMT)
But the only game that has been announced is MP3. Do you mean backwards compatibility games?

gotenks992 - June 27, 2005 12:34 AM (GMT)
Besides that Mario 128 that was suppose to be on the Gamecube will be on the Revolution and there will be as an Animal Crossing for it as well.

Khse - June 27, 2005 01:08 AM (GMT)
Where did you hear that from? I never heard that. Interesting though. Can't wait.

gotenks992 - June 27, 2005 05:42 PM (GMT)
The Nintendo forums were else? I go on there everyday.

Khse - June 27, 2005 08:26 PM (GMT)
I wondered what happened to Super MArio 128. I'm a bit of a Nintendo fan boy myself ^_^.

Nitro Bahamut - June 27, 2005 08:30 PM (GMT)

HUH?! Re-type the last sentence I didn't understand. The part about Star Fox. " Star Fox nay now"?

Seeing as how rare works for microsoft now, they haven't been good since (or do ya mean, star fox hasn't been good since?)

Sometimes, your sentences confuse me nitro.

Nintendo needs from fresh IP's to get the next generation going for them. Yes, we know they're not following the rest of the console world anymore (a sign of giving up already?) but that just means they'll have to try harder for gamers to start having faith in them again. I know, I'm repeating.

Khse - June 28, 2005 06:04 PM (GMT)
One day, I'm going to give Nitro a English lecture that is 8 pages long!

I think that Nintendo will keep all of its current fans but I agree, to get new ones they will have to do something big.

Nitro Bahamut - June 29, 2005 12:02 PM (GMT)
its because i typ so fast, and i dont look at teh screen when ytping, so by the time i relise ive made a mistake, i cant be botherd to go back adn sort it! maybe ill slow down a bit

Khse - June 29, 2005 06:11 PM (GMT)
lol. I hope so. What were you saying about Star Fox?

Xiantaru - June 30, 2005 08:22 PM (GMT)
Referring to the Revolution, Um what can it even do lol .....

Infectious_Twilight - June 30, 2005 08:45 PM (GMT)
No one knows yet, well, other than download games from the nes, snes, n64, and gamecube (?) libraries. That's all we know.

Khse - July 1, 2005 01:35 AM (GMT)
All we know is that and Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario 128, Legend of Zelda, and another Animal Crossing game is being made.

Xiantaru - July 1, 2005 03:00 AM (GMT)
sweet! I want to get the new legend of zelda. Thank you pre-order
