As we really don't seem to have many Sith themed discussions, I thought I'd open up the obvious one, among others, as the new Project Manager. *winks*

Darth Insipid

Dictionary Definition

1 : lacking taste or savor : tasteless <insipid food>

2 : lacking in qualities that interest, stimulate, or challenge : dull, flat <insipid prose>

— in·si·pid·i·ty
— in·sip·id·ly

synonyms: insipid, vapid, flat, jejune, banal, inane

Insipid is a description not only of the Sith Lord's opinions of others, but also his opinion of himself. Striving to find himself challenging or stimulating, he fights against apathy towards existence, his apathy fueling his anger and unparalleled ambition to make sure he knows everything to maintain his power.

The film line that saw me consider the word as my Sith name was in the Matrix Revolution, said by Agent Smith, upon clubbing Neo about for the hundredth time...

Agent Smith:

Why, Mr. Anderson? Why do you do it? Why get up? Why keep fighting? Do you believe you're fighting for something? For more that your survival? Can you tell me what it is? Do you even know? Is it freedom? Or truth? Perhaps peace? Yes? No? Could it be for love? Illusions, Mr. Anderson. Vagaries of perception. The temporary constructs of a feeble human intellect trying desperately to justify an existence that is without meaning or purpose. And all of them as artificial as the Matrix itself, although - only a human mind could invent something as insipid as love. You must be able to see it, Mr. Anderson. You must know it by now. You can't win. It's pointless to keep fighting. Why, Mr. Anderson? Why? Why do you persist?

Neo:

Because I choose to.

Thoughts?

I captured my name after thinking for some time the name Mara came into some assiation with Morrowind. Part of the Nine Divines, or gods.

I've never played the game but did like the name Kynareth, since she was a goddes of air. Not much more than that.

I chose "Verrick." It's the corruption of the word "Maverick." I took out the "Ma" and added an extra "r."

Basically, Darth Verrick is a maverick. He doesn't follow by anyone's rules and he's a bit sick in the head. He is very counter-culture and non-conformist, by he also doesn't conform to the non-conformist.

Like I said, He's a bit crazy.

Mine is latin for worthy. I first made it in the GC. It fit my character who was trying to show he was worthy due to the Jedi passing over him. And it sounded cool so i keep on using that character in most of my RPing and anything related to Sith.

Haretisch is the German word for heretic. Simple as that.

I wanted my new name to have something to do with heresy, or something along those lines, because of my reputation in the old NSO. For one, the leadership saw me as a troublemaker because of the fact that I was always challenging and questioning them. But mainly it had to do with my unpopular, often "heretical" opinions during discussions pertaining to the nature of the force.

QUOTE
"I am Alastor. The weak shall give their heart and swear their eternal loyalty to me."
— Alastor, Devil May Cry

Alastor (English translation: "avenger") can refer to a number of people and concepts related to Greek mythology:
    * Alastor was an epithet of the Greek god Zeus, according to Hesychius of Alexandria and the Etymologicum Magnum, which described him as the avenger of evil deeds, specifically, familial bloodshed. As the personification of a curse, it was also an epithet of the Erinyes. The name is also used, especially by the tragic writers, to designate any deity or demon who avenges wrongs committed by men. In Euripides' play Elecktra, Orestes questions an oracle who calls upon him to kill his mother, and wonders if the oracle was not from Apollo, but some malicious alastor. There was an altar to Zeus Alastor just outside the city walls of Thasos.
o By the time of the 4th century BC, alastor in Greek had degraded to a generic type of insult, with the approximate meaning of "scoundrel".
    * Alastor, a Lycian, who was a companion of Sarpedon, and was slain by Odysseus.
    * Another, unrelated Alastor is mentioned in the Iliad of Homer.
    * Alastor, in Christian demonology, came to be considered a kind of possessing entity. He was likened to Nemesis. The name Alastor was also used as a generic term for a class of evil spirits.
Alastor is a sentient sword and a winged devil in the first Devil May Cry game by Capcom. His first appearance is a scene where the sword moves on its own, stabbing the protagonist Dante through the chest. In the game, Alastor has his own will, but is overpowered by Dante, and becomes his primary weapon for most of the game; the spirit of Alastor warns Dante of impending danger via an electric surge through the blade.
