So this is big, right?
Kessel signs three-year deal, will report to camp ESPN.com news services Phil Kessel is not returning to the University of Minnesota after all. Kessel passed on his final three years of college eligibility and signed with the Boston Bruins, the team announced Thursday. "Phil is a player with world-class speed and gifted offensive talents," Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli. "We feel he is ready to begin his professional development and we are looking forward to seeing him compete at training camp." The team did not disclose terms of the deal, but ESPN The Magazine's E.J. Hradek reported Wednesday that it is a three-year deal worth the entry-level max $850,000 in annual salary. Hradek also reports Kessel will be eligible for significant performance-based bonuses. Drafted fifth overall by the Bruins on June 24, Kessel recorded 18 goals and 33 assists in 39 games with the Golden Gophers last season, his first with the school. The Madison, Wisc., native will turn 19 on Oct. 2, four days before Boston's 2006-07 season opener against Florida. He also represented the United States at this year's World Championship in May, registering a goal and an assist in seven contests. -------------------- "Who the hell is Tonic?"

Yes it is. Partially as an on ice issue and partially for the PR of spending the maximum amount on a player.

Yes, the Kessel signing is excellent news. As is the Bergeron signing yesterday.
I'll probably have more detailed thoughts on this at some point, but this very well could be the final step they need to become your father's Bruins again. -------------------- That yellow snow cone you gave me didn't taste like lemon, it tasted more like...oh you guys are asses!

The Islanders just signed DiPetro to a 15-year contract.
That is all. Oh, 15 years ago, I was a sophomore in high school. -------------------- Take care.
