Welcome to April the real start of Spring.
Okay I am not being duped by the Celtics playing better the last two weeks. And I was really not shocked to see Rajon play well Sunday. It was National TV he always brings it on the big stage. Avery Bradley has been a nice surprise and it is great when he and Rondo can be out there together as 2 plus defenders. But the Celtics still have no inside presence and no inside defenders. They are not going anywhere in the playoffs.
The Stanley Cup Playoffs are shaping up as great, Penguins, Rangers, Flyers and Bruins anyone could be the Eastern Conference representative. It should be nasty and awesome come two weeks from now. And hopefully the Bruins can go on a run again.
The Red Sox went 11-15 in April and 7- 20 in September to bookend their sorry season, yet they still won 90 games. Somehow a lot of people think they will be worse this year? I donít get it really. There is no reason they should not win 90+ games. Staying healthy is the only concern they should have. Bobby Valentine still scares me and now with Bailey out for a while the bullpen does as well. The lineup should hit and carry this team through whatever problems they have. Looking for a bounce back year from Youk and for Pedrioa to stay healthy. Crawford should only come back when he is totally healthy even if that is Memorial Day. I for one am curious to see what Dice K has when he gets back.
Baseball predictions.
I think that the East is once again a Sox and Yankees battle. I donít think the Yankees are winning 97 games again and I hope the Red Sox are a bit more consistent this year and not start and end badly again.
Sox 94 wins, Yankees 92 wins
I think this is the year that Tampa takes a step back and wins only 87 games. It would help the Sox cause if they did a little better than last yearís 6-12 mark against them. I also think Toronto should be in the 82-85 win range as Bobby Valentine keeps the seat warm for John Farrell. Who knows what is going to happen in Baltimore. I just hope the Sox pound Buck Showalter and his smarmy smile.
The Central seems the Tigers to lose. How the White Sox play with laid back Ventura after crazy Ozzie should be interesting. Can the Twins bounce back? And how sad is the situation in Cleveland? I think that the Royals could apply some pressure to the Tigers.
The West would seem to be the Angels and Rangers and the also ranís. Can the Rangers do it three years in a row or will the playoff losses mount and kill the karma they have. The Angels made a big splash with Pujols and CJ Wilson and area expecting big things. Can they deliver? I think the Rangers step back and the Angels win the west.
The NL
The east. The Marlins spent the money and now have to see if they spent wisely. Still tough division with Atlanta and Philly. I think this is the last run on the Phillies and I think that with the volatile Ozzie Guillen that Miami has some issues. Can the Nationals actually break out or is it the same as always? And the Mets are really just a shame arenít they? Philly and then Miami for me.
Central. The Reds should win this division and may not need more than 86 wins to do it. The Cardinals smoke and mirror show from last year should come crashing down and the Brewers have a big hole left by Prince Fielder. Theo has his work cut out for him in Chicago.
West. The Giants look to be the prime contender. But really who knows what I going on in Dodger land or even in Arizona. Never mind the wacky Rockies. Go with the Giants I guess.

Bob, If you are a C's fan just enjoy it while it lasts. Its never a bad thing to pound Miami on national TV. I do like you calling him Rajon.
I guess I like Ray coming off the bench in theory. But I don't think its a bad thing to have Avery come off and be the energy guy. He's a non dunk after the whistle Tony Allen right?

I think for the first time in my life I picked the two finalists. I had Kansas winning. Not all that confident but we'll see. Hopefully its a better game then last years sh*tshow.

Mel's newest 5/16/12 - I'd kibosh Pierce for the 2 games in Philly and hope the week off helps him for Game 5.

Slomo - Dec 19 2011 - I would say absolutely but you know they are going to win their last two games to mess with you.

Oh I enjoyed it yesterday, Especially against the King of all Jerks.
I am not getting all excited though, like certain media members and callers.
I think Ray needs to go to teh bench and be sixth man.
Bradley is playing well and should keep playing, you need him to get experience and get better for next year.

Hey Mel they beat Miami and Minnesota and i hear six people in an hour say things like deep playoff run and the Finals.

So much for Valentine having control over Beckett!!

I really have a bad feeling, even more now about letting Paplebon go

Valentine said everyone rides the buses, Beckett used a limo after his start.
Also the thumb injury, kept manager and Sox in dark.
Aceves as closer does not exactly inspire confidence, plus weakens bullpen.

Asked about Rodriguez's reaction to the injury -- he writhed in obvious pain for nearly five minutes before being led off the field -- Jeter said, "He always acts like that when he gets hit."
