QUOTE (-BB- @ Jan 2 2012, 03:02 PM)
Halcyon Alert:

My fredhman yeatr of college this kid nect to me, the room next to me, used to down vodka like water. He'd be drinking and we'd all be and he'd grab the vodka nad just down it, like someone pounding a beer. Always amazed me.

Anyhow, we went to a John Mellencamp concert in like 1994 at Great Woods. We actually just went to tailgate and pick up chicks assuming the concert was sold out. So, we're hanging out for an hour or so and I deciode to head to the box offive sans sure enough some tickets were available. I bought eiogh, they were eight of us, and we edned up gfoing .

So, as we're walking in, I decide to pull a Champ, that was the kid's name who downed vodka, he's a RI state cop now, any way, I down it, and it didn't work out well, couldn't swallow any of it and the taste made me throw up.

Long story short, or shorter as it would be, is that I am drinking vodka tonogut for the first time sinc ethen. We had some left over from our x-mas party and I felt like having a drink while atching the game. I didn;'t measure how much just poired some into a clgass with that vitamin water stuff and I liked it. Decided to hav a second one, too.

Just felt like sharing this. I can't imagine I'll be experimentating withy vodka in the fure. I don't do hard stuff and for the most part, I've given up alchohol the last 6 months. This is a weird feeling though, it's nice, it's like rinimoing bhetrt in high school with that biuzz thing.

Bert Blyleven should be in the hall of fghame

Hoe is dumb.

That was fantastic. Give us some more. Do people really lose the ability to spell when they are drunk? I remember when Joe got drunk when the Sox won the AL East in 2007 and it hooked me forever on this place. His posts got more and more incoherent. Damn we've been doing this for a while.

Mel's newest 5/16/12 - I'd kibosh Pierce for the 2 games in Philly and hope the week off helps him for Game 5.

Smo, can I fire Coughlin NOW??

Slomo - Dec 19 2011 - I would say absolutely but you know they are going to win their last two games to mess with you.

You know Mel it was not that easy.
The Jets played just about the same schedule as we did and they won 8 games.
And as for the vaunted NFC East the Pats were 3-1 versus them.

The problem is managing expectations

Who said anything about the Jets? They stink

Who said the NFC East was any good?

I dont get Norv Turner. Really losing six in a row and you still survive?
Jerry Jones is the new Al Davis, living off the glory days and making dumb moves. Thinking his way is the best. Seems that he and Al were buddies as well.

My point old Mel is that expectation is a cruel mistress. We see a flawed 13 and 3 Pats team and think they under achieved and are doomed. See the Shank column in the Globe saying as much.
That and Stats suck. Patriots gave up the second most yards this season over 411 per game. The Jets gave up 312 per game, right about a hundred less per game. The Pats gave up 342 points the Jets 363. What does it all mean? Patriots won 5 more games than the Jets.

I'm zigging, you're zagging...

My point was that Mel Hall wishes another team or two in the AFC East would get its act together so the Pats wouldnt cruise to 12-4, 13-3 records every year.

Come on Mel they are not cruising to anything
The AFC East is at worst the third best division.
only the AFC North and the NFC North were a little better because they have 2 good teams
