27 and 5 the last 2 years has to mean something
The Good another comeback shows as resilient team. Tom Brady finished the year healthy and on the bench. The Bad McCourty continued his maddening habit of looking helpless and then making a play. Brady had some ugly throws and the offense looked flat for a half. The Ugly Starting the game in the second quarter deep in the hole is not a good character trait Defense looking helpless to stop anything in the first quarter does not inspire confidence Having the number one seed and home field would be a great season for just about any other franchise but not New England. In the NFL of 2011 anything is possible and with no real dominant defense staring them down in the playoffs there is no reason the Patriots can not get to the Super Bowl. We have higher standards and expectations and so do the Coach and Brady. That is who they are. I hope that the defense can play well enough to allow the team to compete in the playoffs. Brady throws for 5000 yards and 39 touchdowns and 12 picks and it seems like a ho hum average season. This is what we have come to expect I suppose. We pick on style points and focus on the perceived weakness. Instead I think we should remember that any other team in the AFC would love to have him tomorrow. Great year by the Gronk. How exactly did he get that wide open twice in the red zone. Ridley showing a nice change a pace to Green-Ellis. The much maligned secondary making plays and scoring touchdowns. Now if we could just forget the first quarter it would have been a stellar game by them. So we roll on to the post season and the only thing I know is that whatever happens this team will not make it look pretty and probably will not do it the easy way. Nice job by the Giants. Victor Cruz from nowhere to team MVP. Which teams fans is more disappointed with their quarterback this morning, Dallas or the Jets? I guess Sanchez is not the second coming of Tom Brady after all. Watching Rex squirm in his post game press conference was truly special. Bad day for the Ryan brothers all around. Good day for the Harbaugh brothers, matching number 2 seeds.. So is this the week that Norv Turner gets whacked? Good luck to the Giants versus the Falcons this week -------------------- "I honestly think I'd get along better with Hitler than Joe Buck. NFC East Champs!
That's who I am Bob, love your post.. as you search for perspective. You're lost man.. I could pick at least a dozen signature quotes for that one.. Someone in the AFC East needs to step up and challenge you guys. Regular seasons arent supposed to be this easy. ps - shame on the Iggles.. They're so much better than Dallas or NY -------------------- Fire Smo!

used to have two sons watching the Pats with me. lost one to girls....."come on Dad, I have a life you know." The other one bails after the Pats fall behind early....."we suck, I can't watch this team." Yes, I've failed as a father. There's a virus in BB-land and I blame it all on the Red Sox. If only 2004 hadn't happened my family would be very different.
so, Deadspin, the site that rags on everyone and everything, had a post up (briefly) yesterday proclaiming the Texans blew their playoffs by going for two and blowing it. I'd tell you what it said but when I clicked on the link the page was unavailable. FU Deadspin and whoever was minding the shop that was a dumbass, no NFL knowledge, MOFO. Speaking of NFL knowledge, watched Diner with mrs. bb the other night. She had never seen it! When I asked her what she would have done if I gave her a Patriots test she indicated there would be no mrs. bb. Lets see, the bbs became the bbs in 1990. Wouldn't have been much of a test. Most of the answers would have been John Hannah. HALCYON!!!!!!! speaking of halcyon, I finally watched TO live a few weeks ago. I'm gonna call that SOB one of these nights. Nobody ever calls. We should get the band back together and get those phone lines jumping. A call from The Scooter would surely give the show a little shark jump. speaking of jumping the shark, saw The Fonz jump the shark recently. gets me every time. What if Arthur had been eaten by the shark? Would Laverne and Shirley have attended the funeral? merry new year mother flippers. gotta get back to Bob Dylan radio. -------------------- rule #16: if someone thinks they have the upper hand, break it.

Halcyon Alert:
My fredhman yeatr of college this kid nect to me, the room next to me, used to down vodka like water. He'd be drinking and we'd all be and he'd grab the vodka nad just down it, like someone pounding a beer. Always amazed me. Anyhow, we went to a John Mellencamp concert in like 1994 at Great Woods. We actually just went to tailgate and pick up chicks assuming the concert was sold out. So, we're hanging out for an hour or so and I deciode to head to the box offive sans sure enough some tickets were available. I bought eiogh, they were eight of us, and we edned up gfoing . So, as we're walking in, I decide to pull a Champ, that was the kid's name who downed vodka, he's a RI state cop now, any way, I down it, and it didn't work out well, couldn't swallow any of it and the taste made me throw up. Long story short, or shorter as it would be, is that I am drinking vodka tonogut for the first time sinc ethen. We had some left over from our x-mas party and I felt like having a drink while atching the game. I didn;'t measure how much just poired some into a clgass with that vitamin water stuff and I liked it. Decided to hav a second one, too. Just felt like sharing this. I can't imagine I'll be experimentating withy vodka in the fure. I don't do hard stuff and for the most part, I've given up alchohol the last 6 months. This is a weird feeling though, it's nice, it's like rinimoing bhetrt in high school with that biuzz thing. Bert Blyleven should be in the hall of fghame Hoe is dumb. You know Mel it was not that easy.
The Jets played just about the same schedule as we did and they won 8 games. And as for the vaunted NFC East the Pats were 3-1 versus them. The problem is managing expectations -------------------- "I honestly think I'd get along better with Hitler than Joe Buck. " Sully October 15, 2007

See below -------------------- Mel's newest 5/16/12 - I'd kibosh Pierce for the 2 games in Philly and hope the week off helps him for Game 5.
QUOTE (Mel Hall @ Dec 18 2011, 08:01 PM) Smo, can I fire Coughlin NOW?? Slomo - Dec 19 2011 - I would say absolutely but you know they are going to win their last two games to mess with you. |
