Probables: Daisuke Matsuzaka v. Jon Garland
Dusty Brown called up, David Pauley back to Pawtucket. Guess we won't get to see Pedroia catch. -------------------- Cliff: That's enough Normie, I'm waiting for an apology.
Norm: Great I'll drop it in the mail, that way I know you'll never get it. Mike B is right! |

Some pretty awesome stats from my buddy Buck D'Onofrio
Some of my favorites: 73-72 — Entering Tuesday, the count by which had opponents had actually outscored the Red Sox in innings 1-6 this season. 40-27 — The Sox's advantage in frames 7-10. .402 - Jacoby Ellsbury's average (even before last night) in the 33 regular-season Red Sox wins he's been part of over his career. That includes a .353 average this season, which comes accompanied by an OPS+ of 128. .077 — Ellsbury's average in Red Sox losses this season, including just one run. -------------------- Mac Daddy, on stalking my Twitter account:

Globe now saying it's Hansen, not Brown, being called up.

hmmm...interesting I'm not buying the Craig Hansen era. I'm basing this off of 06 but he seemed to not fool anybody. I know he throws hard but he didn't have very many swings and misses. Unless he rediscovered that slider. This Coco being hurt business is exactly what Jacoby needed -------------------- Mel's newest 5/16/12 - I'd kibosh Pierce for the 2 games in Philly and hope the week off helps him for Game 5.
QUOTE (Mel Hall @ Dec 18 2011, 08:01 PM) Smo, can I fire Coughlin NOW?? Slomo - Dec 19 2011 - I would say absolutely but you know they are going to win their last two games to mess with you. |

Hansen has been sensational in the minors so far this year but yeah, I'm in "show me" mode with Craig Hansen. -------------------- Cliff: That's enough Normie, I'm waiting for an apology.

I guess Varitek must be feeling better.
Edit: at least enough to be the backup catcher, as Cash is starting. I echo Joe's comments: Hansen has been lights out so far in Pawtucket. If he can come in here and give them some good consistent appearances out of the bullpen, that'll be a big boost. Here's a piece on him from Tuesday's ProJo. -------------------- "2004 was for our parents and grandparents and everyone that suffered through eight decades. Boy, a girl goes for a coffee and all hell breaks loose.
Daisuke Matsuzaka has been scratched due to "illness" and Jon Lester will move up to make the start. The lineup above already had Kevin Youkilis with a night off, but the reason he is out of the lineup is a stiff back. It's not expected to be serious. -------------------- "2004 was for our parents and grandparents and everyone that suffered through eight decades. Jesus, this flu has guys droppin' like flies. Is this short rest for Lester? Oy, that won't help the control I imagine. -------------------- Cliff: That's enough Normie, I'm waiting for an apology.

Yep, short rest for Lester. Hey, maybe it'll be an improvement! I wonder if they'll slot Beckett back into tomorrow's supposed Lester slot and keep Wake and Buchholz on regular rest. -------------------- "2004 was for our parents and grandparents and everyone that suffered through eight decades.
