Hey Mac/Smo.. If OKC would've taken Baby instead of Perk, do you do that deal?

I'm already working on the March 2 newspaper, Mel. Ink-stained wretches are a day ahead of the rest of you jokers. Oh, wait. There's no ink anymore. Just computers.

76ers tied with Dallas late in first quarter. Interesting test for the league's next powerhouse.

BobP, I tweeted today that I was rooting for Hannah on this season's Biggest Loser. Her sister (Olivia) must have done a search tonight because she sent me a tweet saying that Hannah was great and included both of their usernames. Everyone's a celebrity now I guess.

For shame -- I may be getting them mixed up but Hannah seems like a bitch.

Mel -- in a second, you do that deal with Baby rather than Perk. But that's just me.

Why in a second? Baby can come in and guard the 4 and 5. He's crafty around the hoop and has proven he can step up in the playoffs. This whole Jeff Green is the best player in the deal doesn't compute. I guess I need to see more of him.

And Bob P mentioned that Perk got nearly double what the c's offered. More like 12mil more then the C's offered. I don't think thats a bad contract. 4yrs and 34 mil. Not even 9mil a year. I thought he'd at least get 10 on the open market.

Last night stunk. I hate the whole contrived family thing.

Agreed. Two weeks ago Arthur was Public Enemy #1 for switching up teams and playing the game. Now they all love him and want him to survive.

Here's an idea - get off your fat ass and work harder. I hate that he's getting special attention. Who's fault was it that he was 650 lbs? And who's fault is it that he consistently finishes last in the challenges? He's had a few great weeks and a lot of mediocre ones. Look in the mirror, buddy.

Mel, you watching this? Third qtr has been very very fun. Extra pass galore. So '86esque

Also is anyone watching the Top 20 MLB games on the MLB network? I'm really into it. Costas and Verducci are really good together as hosts (maybe a wee bit schlocky) And they always get good representatives of teams. Just saw Game 4 of the 01 series with Torre and McCaver. Good stuff

Agreed on Arthur. He should have been losing 20 lbs over two weeks easy. He had it to lose. If Boib thinks it's so important for Arthur to be in training, go train him. The rest of them have a shot at the $$.

Also, when they showed Arthur's routine, it bugged me he doesn't have to work. Walk to the gym, work out, kids, workout #2. I assumed disability/

Never understand why more teams don't take advantage of available cap space like that. Smart GM.

I feel like they could have covered Baby's minutes. Green can play some there. So can Powe or Troy Murphy. I do love the fawning over buyout guys.

Hah! That guy is a maniac.

Also, the second love of my life (besides my wife), Ms. Tara Costa (Biggest Loser season 7), hit me up with a tweet last night. Life = complete.

Edit: Hannah (the other sister on the purple/black team) just hit me up too. I'm a stud.

Howard's over. hmmmmm, Mr. Tony podcast or do I venture into some EEI? Caught a little bit of Ordway and Holley (at least I think it was them.) It appeared that they are attempting to make the show more intelligent. Maybe it was the two minutes I had it on but TheSportsHub seems to have made a statement. Anybody?

Caught a little EEI on my way to get coffee.. They were waxing poetic on all the titles Boston won last decade.. Bob, were you recording it?

as I recall, TO warned us to appreciate those titles. I didn't realize it was time to cherish them. Oh, I remember December of, what?, oh, I forgot. Never mind. I should have embraced it while I had the chance. Now I don't remember anything if it happened after I turned 21.

Perhaps we remember the painful memories more clearly. I guess I do. The memories from my teen years that stay with me even now, I still remember how I felt when the Red Sox lost game 7 in 1975, the Bruins too many men on the ice in 78, the roughing the passer call in 78 and Bucky Dent. Those painful memories were soothed by the Bird Celtics of the 80’s. The 1984 title will always be special to me. My first real one as an adult fan, ‘81 was nice but it was the Rockets. But in true Boston fashion 84 is tempered by losses in 85 and 87. The Patriots tried in 85 but god I remember how much that sucked watching that Super Bowl. 1986 was truly fun but ended in a monumental downer. I am still happy to say that I did not see the roller live only heard it and I managed not to see the replay until after 2004. It was just too painful before The Bruins had a nice run but you sort of knew that they were not beating the Oilers Then we have the wasteland that was the 90’s. The Bruins could not beat Montreal and the Garden was replaced by the cookie cutter Fleet Center. The Red Sox were entertaining but stinky and the Patriots were just downright awful. At least the Celtics tried for a bit. They were marked by the retirement of the Bird and McHale and the tragedy of Reggie Lewis. The Patriots came back from the trash heap but still left us wanting for a Super Bowl win.
Then we have a new millennium and redemption. I am still not sure what was more surreal the 2004 Sox run of the Patriots Super Bowl win and subsequent run. Now if the Bruins could just get it done we could have a stretch of 10 years everyone won at least one.
The redemption has been a bit sweeter for me because I remember and keep close all those failures. I remember the pain of 1986 and 1978 and it made 2004 so much more sweet. I know that all those Bruins fans that grew up in the Orr era and post Orr are wanting to feel that pain subside with the return of the Cup to Causeway street. It would by epic indeed. This spring is looking up and maybe the fall as well. Hope does spring eternal doesn’t it?

slomo33 - March 4, 2011 02:06 PM (GMT)
Watching Sportscenter this morning they showed a tweet from LeBron talking about how he's going into battle and something else about war. I'm not one of those people who gets all upset when athletes use the war analogy. But Neil Everett after he read the tweet added in "of course LeBron means no disrespect" Huh? WHat is he LeBrons PR advisor now? So bugs me because it shows the kind of protection he and a lot of athletes get at the WWL.

Between referencing the Eddie Coyle movie (which I saw for the first time several months ago, pretty good flick) and the reliving of sports memories (forget Buckner, Stanley or Gedman--Schiraldi was the goat of Game 6 for being unable to close it out), it feels like a good time to dive back into the Station pool.

First, why was today the perfect opportunity to take a walk? (Hint: check the calendar.)

Buchholz with three solid innings against the Yankees tonight, and SSOTF Jose Iglesias with a couple of hits and a run scored.

As for the Green, how's that trade look now? Both Perk and Nate now on the shelf, not to mention every else they dealt away...and now even Necco strains his calf. What would the Celtics have done without a bench tonight?

Even the Bruins can't lose...not that I care.

BTW Batman reruns rule on the Hub (that's the TV network, not 98.5).

The non-Green bench sucked tonight, but I agree with your main point.. I trust that the new guys will integrate into the defensive system over the next few weeks, but wow.. seems like there's so many more offensive options right now. I love the way the team passes when Krstic is out there.. Shouldnt he still start if Shaq ever returns?

golly gee willikers. sleep for a couple of days and you miss TO. hail TO. I've been busy with Little League. they roped me in again. Hey, I'll do anything to be called sir, even if it is by a bunch of 13-year-olds. Hell, I blinked and my Arizona Wildcats were cutting down nets in McKale. Sure the Pac is down but after the mess this team was in Post-Lute it is a wonderful thing. It's too bad we missed the tourney last season. We're ready to go on another run. There's one NBA-quality guy in Tucson....If he stays for one more year we are gonna look like contenders next season. WOOHOO. Bring on The Madness!!!!!

If I were Jimmer Fredette I'd be pissed beyond pissed. Take your honor code and stick it in a condom for a month. Forget what people are saying about the Mountain West being a mid-major. The conference is loaded this year. It's no BigEast but it is legit. Too bad the mucky mucks of Mormonville thought it was a good time to prove athletics don't trump morals. MotherFllippers. Doesn't BYU just look foolish to everyone that doesn't think Brigham Young was a prophet?
