Title: 10-21-07: Indians v. Red Sox
Description: ALCS, Game 7

Mark Citrone - October 21, 2007 05:06 AM (GMT)
Probables: Jacob Cauthen Westbrook v. Daisuke Matsuzaka

Jill D - October 21, 2007 01:33 PM (GMT)
So, does this mean Cleveland's Game 4 win is tainted?

Time Out - October 21, 2007 01:43 PM (GMT)
The bigger question is what effect, if any, this has on the team going into tonight's game. The timing of this breaking news couldn't be much worse for the Tribe.

And not to bring religion into this story (but you sort of can in this case) did God tell him it was okay to take HGH? Read the link inside the HGH story--he's supposed to be releasing a book called The Free Byrd Project, in which "Byrd took some time to talk about some of the topics he'll cover in his book, including his struggles with pornography, cheating, and sharing his faith with the media and clubhouse mates, and to discuss how religion can unify and, at times, divide a clubhouse." Might have to make an addendum to that publication, Paul.

Even worse, I think his whole life is tainted. Love that he mentioned Canseco by name.

I am worried that he gets in the game tonight. We strugle with PED users in Game 7s of an ALCS. Thank God we root for the squeaky clean Boston Red Sox.

Mac Daddy - October 21, 2007 02:55 PM (GMT)
Just thought I'd mention that Buster Olney on the ESPN News loop predicted 5-4 Indians saying "The quiet kid from Georgia gets it done." I'm assuming he meant Westbrook, but thanks for really being clear.

Do you mean really being clear or really being cream, Mac? Sorry, trying to keep the theme of the thread going.

This comes from Gordo, so I give it credence. I wonder how his Orioles teammates and bosses will feel about this. But it worked with Bill Mueller, so...

Kevin Millar will throw out the ceremonial first pitch tonight.

Cowboy up, y'all.

Millar is a free agent. I wonder if this is tampering as the free agent negotiation period has not yet begun.

At this point Millar has done everything but stand outside Fenway with a "will play for free" sandwich board. He wants to come back in the worst way.

Jill D - October 21, 2007 03:42 PM (GMT)
No thanks.

Time Out - October 21, 2007 03:42 PM (GMT)
Millar? Everyone should down a shot of Jack tonight as he performs his pregame ritual. :D

Just found an online sportsbook and took the 'over' big on the number of times the phrases "short leash" and "all hands on deck" will be said for the remainder of this day. I'm liking my chances.

Speaking of those words, I read on rotoworld.com that Chad Pennington is being given a short leash by the Mangenius vs. the Bengals today. Mike Felger just said it'll be all hands on deck for the Pats when they play at Indy in two weeks. I'm telling ya, it's contagious. :P

I know Craig has probnably thought of this but I'd like to envision a scenario where Tom Brady could pitch a few innings tonight, if necessary.

His pitch count will be pretty good since he won't be in the game during the 4th quarter.

I'll call you pregame and talk you off the ledge.

troy - October 21, 2007 11:24 PM (GMT)
I describe myself as 'having my game face on.' But I'll also give up on this game like *that*.

Scott - October 21, 2007 11:25 PM (GMT)
Give up on this game? Please explain this a little more.

troy - October 21, 2007 11:29 PM (GMT)
Like, if the Sox go down 10-3 or something. Not likely to stick with it.

Scott - October 21, 2007 11:35 PM (GMT)
Why on earth would you give up on them now?

I'm going to hope that that was sarcasm and move on.

Mac Daddy - October 21, 2007 11:44 PM (GMT)
Just like troy, always there for the good times.

The last two Game 7s that we have won were blowouts. The last one we lost was close. That's what Freddy normally does, except with research.

Craig - October 21, 2007 11:49 PM (GMT)
I am excited and nauseous at the same time. Kind of like Mac Fatty when he sees a burrito and then a low-carb wrap.

Terrible, terrible joke.

I wish you had thrown in chicken wing to make it more true to life.

We're hitting tonight. I just need 5-6 solid innings from DiceK. I'm with Gummy on this. If we need Beckett, we're not where we need to be.

slomo33 - October 21, 2007 11:51 PM (GMT)

Already there. I drank pretty heavily during the last two wins, so why not?

Ask Craig about his reunion to calm you down.

That was for slo. And slo, no gametime posting.

At this point Millar has done everything but stand outside Fenway with a "will play for free" sandwich board. He wants to come back in the worst way.

Based on his pregame interview, I just checked this out. Millar actually will still be under contract to the Orioles in 2008. His contract had an option that would vest with 475 plate appearances, he had 562. The pregame talk made it sound like he had to get special permission.

Rem Dog just said that the sox tried to get Pedro but the mets denied permission. I thought he'd be a great choice

Gummy - October 21, 2007 11:59 PM (GMT)
They should get Mo Rivera.
