Beep beep beep beep! Charlotte's alarm clock rang loudly, straight into her ear. Exhausted, Charlotte picked herself up from her bed and stretched. She turned the beeping alarm clock off and got dressed, humming. She headed downstairs for breakfast, too excited to eat. Argh...there was another hour until Charlotte was supposed to visit Professor Chestnut at his lab for her starter Pokemon. In the end, she forced herself to eat a bowl of cereal and drink down a glass of milk.

When it was time, Charlotte raced outside the door and hopped onto her bike, cycling up the steep hill that would lead to Professor Chestnut's labratory. Charlotte knocked twice on the door and tapped her foot impatiently.

The door creaked open and Charlotte hopped in, too excited to think.

"Hey!" Professor Chestnut greeted Charlotte. She led Charlotte into the middle of the lab, where there were three Pokeballs. Professor Chestnut explained the Pokemon inside each of the balls and Charlotte took time to think.

"I want Totodile," Charlotte said firmly after finally making her choice.
