I had some bad news yesterday, Stella has taken ill in quarantine and they had to call the emergency vet out to her yesterday evening. The Vet came out and they weren't entirely sure what was happening with her, but they said it was serious. A couple of hours after the Vet had been she declined very badly and the Vet had to come back out to her and she was taken into the clinic and placed on a drip. She was seriously ill last night, in fact I asked the vet if she was going to die and she said that she didn't know. sad.gif I was frantic last night worrying about her.

I called them first thing this morning and they have said that she is a little brighter and that they managed to get her up for a wee, which is encouraging as she was so weak last night she couldn't stand. She is still not out of the woods yet and is very ill. They have taken bloods from her and the results won't be in until tomoorw. I have been waiting all morning for the Vet to do his rounds and call me with news.

Anyway please keep her in your thoughts and send her positive thoughts. I am so worried about her at the moment, and will just be glad when they get to the bottom of it so they can work on making her well again.

OK, they think that Stella has Addidons. She seems to have responded to the steroids last night and went down hill later this morning probably as they wore off. She has had nother dose and I will call in a few hours to see how she is doing. She has managed to eat two small meals, so things are looking a lot more positive today. I think I came pretty close to losing her last night, so I am so thankful that she has fight in her and has picked up. She is still very ill, but I am hopeful that if she responds quickly to treatment she can be back in the kennel again with Eric by the end of the week and more herself again.

Poor Eric is pacing now that she has gone, but he seems to be coping OK and with luck they will be together again soon.

I am so glad that she is picking up now! Although Addisons means meds for life, it isn't a big deal and well manageable from what I understand. I keep sending healing thoughts and hope we'll have an even better update tonight.

Fingers and paws crossed here for a speedy recovery and a succesful way of managing it.

One of my husbands friends has addisons and it is managed really well, hopefully it will be the same for dogs as humans - good luck - big HUGS xxxx

A Saluki matures officially at 3 years of age.

Unofficially, they mature at 12, go senile then die.

So 'no change there then'.

Sending Stella lots of love and crossing fingers that she will continue to get better. It sounds like she has made it through the worst, I'm so glad they've got an idea of what's wrong. Hugs to you and to Eric, I hope he copes OK.

Stella had a pretty stable night last night and was sitting up on her bed this morning, so a little better. She is till poorly and tires very quickly, but she has been up for a wee and eaten so all positive. Bloods in this morning so hopefully an answer. I have been so worried for her, she has scared me to death these last few days, I am so relieved to hear some positive news this morning as she was still not too good yesterday evening.

Eric is still coping, but of course he is missing her. Hoping ot get an answer today so they can treat her and get her back to him as soon as possible. 41 days and we can have her home. I can't wait now!

So glad things are looking up. I hope she continues to improve and makes a speedy recovery. May the days pass quickly until both Eric and Stella are home with you.

Lots of licks and tail wags from Freya and Skippy to you all.

Hope Stella has had a good night and is improving steadily. On the plus side she is young and fit so hopefully will make a full recovery. It must be a dreadful time for you and yours. We too have all fingers and paws crossed. Hope to see good news soon.

I am sure Karen won't mind me saying as she put it on FB earlier today that Stella is doing a lot better, in fact, she was doing so well that you would never have known that she was so ill ohmy.gif I hope that this continued through the day.

Sorry I haven't had chance to update you all. I called the kennels yesterday morning to be told that they had gone into her that morning and she had chewed out her drip, shredded all her bedding and eaten the door frame! rolleyes.gif wub.gif I knew then that she was well again. That is so Stella to come back naughty laugh.gif

Anyway, she continues ot do well, they put her back in with Eric yesterday morning, which is a relief as he was suffering without her. She is definitely better as she has been beating him up! laugh.gif She is eating, drinking and doing her toilet as normal so all good. Hoping that this all means she has made a recovery from whatever it was that made her so ill. A MASSIVE improvement from a couple of days ago and such a relief. I want them home more than ever now.

Brilliant news!! biggrin.gif So happy for you all. Bet Eric is really happy to have her back pushing him around again! Long may she continue to do so! laugh.gif

Did they find out what was actually causing her to be so ill?

They still don't know what caused it, but I am just glad that she is better. She scared me there for a while. So typical of her to come back with a bang too. I think she has a few fans at the kennels and they think she is an amazing dog, that is our Stella! smile.gif
