I'm getting my first Saluki next month and she will be six months old. I'm planning on giving her twice daily walks but am a bit unsure on how long the walks should be,as I don't want to overdo it whilst she's growing.
Advice would be muchly appreciated.

'tis a tricky one, this... laugh.gif

The basic rule is 5 minutes per months of age (so 30 minutes in your case) up to 3 times a day... I am however not that strict on it at all... I use this more for high impact road walking than general. My puppy is now 5 months old and my walks are usually around 45 - 60 minutes (once a day in my case). This however consists of walking to and from the park (20 minutes), walking in the park, playing, training, sitting and resting for a few minutes a couple of times etc.

I think you just need to be sensible about it. But if they don't get enough exercise (that includes mental stimulation too!!! - especially for a saluki) they'll just go mad indoors, which is just as high impact as outdoor exercise. So you need to strike a balance.

Thanks, that does help!
I hope I can work out the right balance. I'm planning on walking her early in the morning so she's not got too much excess energy during the day, and then later in the afternoon.
