How did you find [cs]? • Through some other boards

Notes • I guess I don’t get a cookie. That’s really disappointing too, because I was looking forward to the chocolate chip. Apparently, the sith make them better than anyone else. The dark side gets props in my book for those culinary skills.

Cathal Wes Pavan

FULL GIVEN NAME • Cathal Wes Pavan
NICKNAME(S) • Wes, Cath
NAME MEANING • Cathal is an old Corellian name that means “fierce in battle.” I was the first one in my family line to do away with the name Jax, but I do not mind. After all, my first name is what makes me distinct from all the others who came before me. I hate being just a statistic. Wes, that is one family name I decided to keep. It seems to fit well in this day and age too. It is the name of one of my ancestors, an original member of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Finally, we get to the surname, Pavan. I am descended from the jedi Jax Pavan, and his father Lorn. I happen to be very proud of my namesake as well, so if you do not like it, then feck off.
AGE • 26
BIRTHDAY • Nelona, 7th, 188 ABT
INCOME • I’m not in this for the money. In other words, I manage to get by with merely the skin on my teeth. Every now and then I get paid, but those moments are very rare.
ORDER • Neutral [strong ties to the rebel underground]

APPEARANCE
Cathal’s owes his ancestors many thanks for the tall and muscular build that makes him quite the imposing figure. A naturally slim and defined figure gives the young jedi incredible strength for his weight. A very fast metabolism helps keep the jedi lean and defined, even when he is unable to exercise for a long duration of time. While his body may define the word chiseled, Wes suffers from a terrible affliction. While he is not ghostly white, the young man does have a pale complexion that only seems to darken under the summer sun. Cath keeps his hair cut short, and usually leaves it messy as if trying to give the appearance of just having woken from a long nap. The locks take on a light brown color, and reveal red and blonde highlights when placed in well lit areas. Tatooine tends to give his hair an auburn appearance.

Pavan’s jaw is somewhat chiseled, though not overly so, and is usually scruffy unless the jedi feels the need to look presentable. Wes has a nose that is slightly lofted at the tip, which gives his face a distinct appearance when combined with his thicker lips and thin eyebrows. However, the jedi’s most favored facial feature by far is his eyes. They are dark emerald in color, distinct from others who may believe they possess orbs with a green hue.

General Personality: You kill two or three people out of rage, and suddenly everyone thinks you’re a murderer in dire need of anger management. Being defined as a murderer in this instance could not be further from the truth though. However, signing up in a few anger management classes would not hurt Cathal. Pavan is not that grumpy old man who sits on his porch every day with a blaster rifle, hoping that a traveling salesman comes by. That being said, there are times where he reaches a breaking point after continuously trying to quell all the anger that builds up during his life. These brief outbursts are not enjoyable for anyone, even Cathal. Most of the time he simply walks around breaking things or yelling at people. There have been times though when that rage led to the worst possible scenario. Two separate outburst cost three people their lives. While one was in self-defense, it was not any easier for the young man to take. Yeah, so anger is a problem, and he has nobody to blame but his mother’s side of the family. The Janson blood seems to boil every time someone makes an attack against the young jedi. While he can control his rage most of the time, Pavan takes many things way too personal.

Between his little outbursts, Cathal is actually a good-natured person. He is always ready to provide a jovial statement when it is needed, and he absolutely hates silence. He enjoys joking around with his friends and even enemies when the situation calls for it. Most people are fortunate enough to see this side of Wes, and so they believe he is simply a nice person all the time. While the jedi tries to maintain this image, it is hard at times. There is nothing that the young man likes more than playing a prank on some unsuspecting idiot. It’s even sweeter when said idiot happens to be a member of the sith prestige. For the most part though, Cath has to live with playing jokes on the people he knows within the rebellion. This is his way from escaping the dark reality that surrounds him. During these dark days, Cathal has noticed that making people laugh goes a long way for motivation. Sometimes it can be the difference between victory and defeat.

Pavan usually watches his ego when in the company of others, but deep down he believes he can do anything. Sometimes, this belief comes out in the worst possible way. During a fight, be it in space or on the ground, Pavan can become bold and daring without fearing any repercussions. Now this type of behavior can lead him into trouble in both environments, something that his friends do not always enjoy. Behind the stick of a fighter or light freighter, this attitude gives Cath the image of a daredevil, something that you never want when someone else is in the cockpit with you. Pavan’s brash way of handling things has often led to disagreements with friends and comrades who would rather keep their life instead of testing their luck. Wes has lost more than one friend thanks to this part of his attitude. Now, because the young man likes to keep his ego in check. While Pavan is a clever individual, he does not flaunt said characteristic. In fact, if one did not know the jedi, they may mistake him for a person who possesses less intelligence than normal. For the most part, Pavan is smarter than the room but chooses not to show it. It’s simply not in his character.

Loyalty is something that Cathal does not take lightly. He is protective of any friend or ally, and will not stand aside as someone tries to hurt them. Once the jedi receives a task, he will not simply betray the trust that others have in him. In fact, if he were given the option, Pavan would take a slow painful death over being forced to betray his friends. Loyalty at this point in time is all the young man really has going for him. He has seen what happens when others betray their causes, and does not want to end up like them. The people he formerly called friends turned their back on the jedi order before joining with the sith prestige. While Cathal has distanced himself from the order, he would never even think of betraying one of their members to the sith. If Wes gets word of a friend in trouble, he will always try to aid them even if the help comes at a great cost. This part of his personality seems to go along with his reckless behavior, because usually Cath’s rescue operations involve kicking down doors instead of a more subtle approach.

Patience is something the young man lacks as well. Cathal is easily annoyed when he has nothing to do, and he despises having to sit and listen to lectures. Waiting for the right moment to take action never fit Pavan. He always wanted to get things done in a hurry without having to wait. As a padawan, this got him into trouble on several instances. Brash actions were the reason for the council’s worry. They did not believe that his impatient personality fit that of a jedi. Wes has his master to thank though, for he was the only one who fought for the young man when his abilities were brought into question. On missions, Cathal is often confronted with puzzles, which tend to annoy him. While he can solve them, he does not enjoy the time it takes to do so. In fact, the jedi could never see how his ancestor Jax became a detective in Coruscant’s under city. To him, that work is excessively slow.

ROLE PLAY SAMPLE • That was it; he had departed with that single letter to his father. Jagged knew that Sev would deliver the envelope, or at least that is what he hoped. For years, he had been a devoted servant of the Empire, but now he was venturing down a different path. The transport had taken him from Corellia to Tatooine, where he withdrew countless credits. Of course, he was without a ship, something that the young pilot detested. Soon that would be a problem of the past, for this day he had acquired an appointment with a rather shadowy dealer. People informed him that this man had warrants on several worlds, and had nothing but the best to offer. Ofnir would judge that fact himself though in just a few hours. The designated meeting area was a small warehouse at the edge of Mos Espa’s city limits. A week ago, he had requested the meeting, and now was certain that the dealer knew him as a former servant of the Imperial regime. They would question him about that, and so Ofnir tried to form answers in his mind that did not sound too suspicious.

The alcohol was supposed to help him avoid wary thoughts, but right now Jag was only thinking about what he would do if a fight broke out in the small shipyard. This dealer would have guards, that was a given. However, if Talisman would be able to get to and on a ship, he could fly it out of the small boneyard and proceed to a distant planet. If that did happen, he would need to get somewhere far very fast. With any hope though, it would not come to that. In Jagged’s perfect world, the man would simply hand him the launch codes for the ship and the purchase would be complete. Something in the back of the pilot’s mind though knew it would not be that easy.

He did not wait for the bartender to walk around to his position, but instead the former Imperial soldier placed a few credits on the counter and made his way to the door of the small cantina. His first impression of the place was one of distaste, for its confines were too crammed and various unpleasant odors filled the air. He could tolerate aliens for the most part, but not when they started to smell like this.

Mos Espa’s streets were different though, the air considerably cleaner but much more dusty. With twin suns scorching the desert wasteland, temperate was not a word mentioned around Tatooine. This planet was a great example of being half-way to hell. Desolate wastes covered it from pole to pole, but still provided opportunities for those willing to work hard enough for it. Many moisture farmers dotted the wastes, men, and women who Ofnir credited with having great strength. It was odd how one man’s wasteland could be another’s gold mine.

With hands tucked deep in his own pockets, and a collar popped up to keep the sand from blowing in his face, Jag Ofnir made his way through sparsely populated streets toward where he was to meet this man and receive his ship. The former Imperial officer already knew his preference, a ship from the YT series of freighters. Not only were they easily modifiable, but they also were prime smuggling vessels. A man needed to make his way in the universe, and so now, Talisman was resorting to this. People paid him to run spices right under the noses of New Republic and Imperial customs agents. He now found himself on the opposite side of the law.

A single building loomed in front of the former Imperial, as he continued down another dusty street. This one seemed older than all the others did, however several windows blown out near the entrance point and the walls weathered after decades of sandstorms. He could tell from the exterior that there was most likely nothing inside, which sparked the pilot’s curiosity yet again. The young man’s mind was screaming out warnings as he continued toward the structure. There was something wrong with this meeting point, but the pilot was more concerned about acquiring a ship than listening to his mind. After all, his mind led him here in the first place.

Before reaching the doorway, Jag checked to make sure that the DL-44 at his waist was ready to go just in case the worst was to happen. He inserted a fresh battery pack into the weapon before leaving his temporary place of residence, but sometimes the guns tended to fail at the most important moments. A single door rose into the frame, allowing sand and light into the darkened area beyond. The former Imperial hesitated for a second before placing one foot inside the frame and allowing his body to follow suit.

“Keep your hands in plain sight and don’t frakking move.” Ofnir’s eyes were still adjusting to the dark when the gruff voice sounded from behind him. By now though, the only exit once again closed, and the pilot was sure that whoever occupied the building also locked it. Jagged kept his hands raised slightly, jaw clenching as the bodyguard plucked his DL-44 from its holster. Damn.

After making sure that the pistol was the only weapon that Ofnir had on his possession, the guard pushed him forward. The pilot stumbled forward but caught himself a few steps later. Anger flared within his green eyes, and the former lieutenant commander spun on his heels. This guard was a few inches taller, than the pilot was, but that did not deter Jag. He was Xabi’s son, and when he was angered, there was no getting around a severe ass kicking that would soon follow.

“Keep moving maggot.” Ofnir did not move, rage still filling his eyes as he stood there with his fists clenched. The guard’s arm shot out in a quick punch that was supposed to render the former Imperial incapacitated. Merely a millisecond before the punch connected though, Jag reacted. He pulled his body out of the way and at the same time grabbed the guard’s wrist, holding his arm steady. The soldier reached out with his own arm, open palm pushing the larger human’s elbow in a way it was not supposed to bend. A loud popping noise sent the attacker to his knees, but Talisman was not satisfied with just that. Instead, he brought his knee to bear, bone connecting with the bodyguard’s face. The blow knocked the other man senseless, blood seeping from his broken nose. “Maggot that frakker.”

Feeling a whole lot better, the pilot moved out of the darkness with a smile on his face. The interior part of the factory was more or less a junkyard, about two hundred yards long by a hundred yards. In the center though was a freighter of Corellian make, the unmistakable figure of a YT series craft. Two men appeared suddenly from behind the junk, looking at the former Imperial with little emotion in their eyes. One of them, a lavishly dressed individual who Jag assumed was the black market dealer, spoke soon after appearing from the piles of trash. “Where is Chase?” The pilot’s eyes widened, but then he motioned behind him with his thumb. “Tripped over a crate in the dark. You might want to think about investing in a light.”
