Title: Sabres Looking for Goalie

Cybernetic Masta - February 7, 2012 05:30 PM (GMT)
Now that Jimmy Howard is injured for the next 4-to-6 weeks I am in the market for a goalie. I will not be able to stay in the hunt for the president's trophy with Brent Johnson as my goalie, it's not just possible. I am not willing to pay a ton for a temporary goalie and do not ask for my best players in exchange for one.

I heard Joey MacDonald is available. :P

and clemmensen lol

Clemmer is available and he is seems to be the starter at the moment ...

Cybernetic Masta - February 8, 2012 01:30 PM (GMT)
Umm yeah but what is the asking price?

ottawagm - February 8, 2012 07:23 PM (GMT)
asking price in this league for goalies is ridiculous...and rightfully so when you have 30 teams playing two goalies each. you're not going to get a goalie for cheap, so unfortunately you're going to have to pay up if you want to win the president's trophy.

Yeah I doubt I can do that for a temporary solution in goal

What do league rules say about player rentals? If Team A gives Team B a goalie for the rest of the season, and Team B gives Team A some compensation for that, and then returns the goalie to Team A in the summer?

I'm not saying I'm proposing anything like that, but is it forbidden, and if it is, then why, because such actions have been seen in the real NHL too.

That's happened in the NHL? Where they traded a player back in the off-season? I don't think I've seen that.

I have never seen that either.

Teams have traded away UFAs at the deadline, only to re-sign them July 1st though.

Oh, and as for why, it'd be a form of collusion.

I floated an idea to do something like that, can't remember if here or in the ZFHL, a few years back, and it got little traction and some resistance.

You mean you wouldn't trade your 26.07 FP/G Zetterberg for my 32.93 FP/G Sanford!?
