Introduction
i have had like 2 pures so far, this is my third, dont ask me why i have been reading the 'the last pures' and 'mayhem makers' forums like a hawk over the past few months learning everything about pures, about every type of pure, and how to pk with each of them.
Types Of Pure
Mage / Range Pure
These pures, in my mind, require the least amount of money to raise. They focus mainly on using their magic shortbow to attack their enemies, and then using teleblock and entangle on blitz/ barrage to hold their enemies, or complete a nifty combo.
stats you should have as a mage/range pure:
maximum range mage doesn't have to be maxed, but have : 70/79/82/85/94 1 defence 1 prayer, you do not need prayer for these pures, as their range shreds through rune, hits very often and hits high, constantly. if you need extra boost, cast magic. attack and strength are optional, but a good tactic is to look at the combat calculators on 'tip.it' and see how many attack and strength levels you can get without getting a combat level. if you're like 80+ mage, range and hitpoints, you can get 121 attack and strength levels without raising a combat. get 40 attack for the 2h, and then all the rest on strength.
How to raise a range/mage pure
buy yourself anywhere in the region of 10k bronze arrows+, 10k minds, 20k airs and a fire staff. buy full leather armour, an amulet of accuracy(or do imp catcher) and full blue wizard and a magic amulet.
use 1-2k bronze arrows getting youre range to 40 on cows, and if you're a little short for cash, save the cowhides. it is 1164 cows from 1 to 40 range, picking up arrows, thats around 1k bronze used, and an extra 116.4k in the bank if you sold the hides.
do imp catcher and witches potion to get to around 11 mage i think, then go to the mage guy in lumbridge, and use the runes you get off him to get to 13 mage.
Now we're going to black knights fortress. Take youre minds, airs, fire staff, magic gear, range gear and your arrows, save one space for picking if arrows if you need too, and make the rest of inventory food.
stand where indicated and attack the normal guards there. they cannot attack you, and will just walk back and forth until you kill then pick up your arrows if you want too.
continue until you get 59 magic and 70+ range with this tactic. This will mean that your pure is now ready to start ripping up the wilderness.
between 35-50 combat, and then around 70 - 80 combat, range pures absolutely own the wilderness.
melee pure
this pures are simple to raise. You only need yourself a few select items. you want all the scimmys from iron upto rune, but you can leave out other black or steel, because the level difference isnt too great and there is no point in having both. You also want a strength amulet and optional is full iron if you're worries about damage.
you train at the cows in falador, using the fireplace to cook the meat and eat when you need too, and you can bank the cowhides if you are gathering money.
i trained all the way to 40 attack and strength here, 'cos there just isn't a better place.
it is 2660 cows to 40 attack and strength from 0 experience. this wont be too time consuming, and as soon as you get 40 attack and strength, you can start to go pking
around this level, you are level with the rangers, but using my skill i could own them easily =], but be wary of their magic, the level 59 fire spell hit 16's, and with str pot and r2h, you probably cant hit anywhere higher than 14 - 15.
do not go pking at the edge castle alone, it is a multi-combat area and you will get pjed, teled, prayered upon etc.
as you begin to get up your strength, you MAY want to get up your prayer, as an extra accuracy and damage boost, but only when you begin to fight rune pures, but remember, more prayer = more combat levels, and it wont give you the same damage boots as someone at your level with 1 prayer and higher strength has, so plan your pure cafefully.
suggested stats:
40 attack higher strength, the better 40 range optional for green chaps and vamps 20 or 59 magic optional for bind spell and a cool 16 damage 1 prayer 1 defence arouns same hits as combat to around 5 more than combat level.
You do not have to get other stats with your selected combat choice, you can go solo melee if you want too, but getting extra range and magic makes your pure even more potent, and if you are faced with a stubborn rune person who you just cant hit, you can use mage/range and that will surely turn the tides. also, when you are a specific combat based level, getting up other levels will not alter your combat level, and might surprise the emeny if they are hit with an enexpected 16 once in a while!
