Among's Franjo's siblings were Neza/Agnes who married a MUSSGER and Theresa who married a KNAPP. Possibly others including Johann/Janez, Anna, Nez, Anton, etc. Pavla's siblings may have included a Thomasina and Marija. Franjo & Pavla were married in Ljubljana, then moved to Graz, had children there, then moved back to Maribor in 1917. Franjo died there in 1939, Pavla many years later. I would VERY, VERY much like to hear from/learn of relatives -- or hear from anyone who has known someone descended from the above == or hear from anyone who known a ZAKRAJSEK from Ljubljana or a VRSIC from Ptuj. Hope to hear back from you!! And, thank you in advance for your time and any help you can give me! Sincerely, Pavla Chandler |

Jakse,
In the town of Toplice (Toplica), that is now probably apart of Nova Misto in Slovenia are two churches that have about 30 Jaksč's buried there. That name was from that area in mid 1800's and prior. Further back the name was probably pronounced Yahshieh and in the mid 1600 to mid 1700. and probably spelled with a Y not a J. (as in Yukoslavia was changed to Jukoslavia at one time after the Hungarian- Austrian empire fell. And was change once again with this area becoming apart of the USSR [Russian empire] till 1980's. In cyrillic it is a backwards R with three down strokes (mirror this "IIIR" and you have what it looked like). I am a decendent - probably 6 generations removed now living in North America. The Yahshieh or Jakse name was changed in north America when many of the 1870 to 1903 immigrants were nationalized through the U.S. Congress bill of 1908 that naturized immigrants that had landed and hadn't status. This name was north americanized about that time to become Yakse, Jakse and Jacksie. These names (and distant relatives) appear more in Chicago Ill. and Min. Michagan, with some in California, Texas and Florida, U.S.A. and a cluster up in Toronto Canada (which is where I write from). Have fun researching. Your truly RJ Robert Joseph (Jacksie) |
