The abortive $85 million (44 million pound) exercise raised fresh questions about the reliability of the first elements of the plan, an heir to former president Ronald Reagan's vision of an space-based missile defence that critics dubbed "Star Wars."

It weights 44 million pounds! No wonder it won't work. Its too heavy. rolleyes.gif

Yes, I know, rather lame joke. Seriously though, that bird ain't never going to fly, and even if it did it wouldn't really matter would it?

Lets see... you have a country that has nuclear weapons and missles to launch them all the way over here. They can do one of three things as I see it.
1. Launch it from their country, our sattelites and radar able to easily pick it up as it makes the journey over here, us having more than enough time to nuke the daylights out of the offending nation in response. Not likely to happen less it was some suicidal dictator who didn't care if he took all of his people with him to death, in which case you really don't want to nuke them anyway.

2. Launch it from a shorter range and easier to make and aim missle, from the deck of any cargo ship, or fishing boat even, after getting closer to the United States border. This makes it harder to trace it back to whoever launched it, provided you have a bomb planted to self destruct the ship and kill those ignorant fools that launched it. Or get any that hate America enough to do suicide bombings, them blowing themselves up if they couldn't escape the coast guard rushing after the ship they detected the missle launching from.

3. Bring in a nuke with a timer aboard any commercial vessel to whatever major city you wanted to go boom. Even if it was leaking radiation, and they had giegar counters everywhere to detect it, you could easily build a lead wall around it to prevent that from being a problem. A few inches of lead, or even a few feet if necessary, around the room in the haul of the ship with the nuke, works fine, and certainly won't listen the blast any.

Which option works best? Not that difficult of a concept. You could even charter one of the civilian small planes that is constantly flying back and forth to various places, and load a nuke on it after replacing the pilot. Find someone who goes back and forth anyway, or is planning a trip, kill them and replace with suicidal pilot, or just plant the nuke in the thing without them noticing the change in weight, having a lot of luggage anyway. Doesn't matter. I'm sure you could find a suicidal pilot easily enough, or even some moron who thought he was smuggling over dope or something, or just delivering a plane even.

Anyway, the plan is a sever waste of tax payer dollar, all the money going no doubt to those contributing back to those with political power, or various people in the military that support it who are later given money for speeches, book deals, or jobs working for the industry they should be regulating.

Democrats criticized him for considering the high-profile post leading the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), which lobbies Congress on behalf of drug companies, while he was still chairman of the committee that regulates the drug industry.

Isn't that retarded? I mean, we all know they screw us over, but they don't have to be so obvious about it.

Normally its the people in the FDA which rotate between jobs in the FDA regulating drug companies and much higher paying jobs in the industry they regulate. Spend a couple of years regulating us, then spend a year working for us doing nothing at all but getting a huge check, then back to your old government job again, and so on. That kind of thing. Someone needs to research names and show exact information to bring it to the attention of everyone, as well as show the number of people killed by prescription drugs each year in this country.
