A Change, as Good as a Rest?

Siara smiled as she entered "Well a girl needs her rest Rand..." she said smirking nsince she saw him prepare herself. She could always get him back later after all. Turning to Zack who looked rather glad to be resting she watched this strange alchemy begin as he merged it together "wow....thats incredible! i had no idea you could do that with materia...thats deffinatly worth experimenting with!" she said taking the bag thankfully.
She had finally settled before she heard the noise outside of the dormitory. "WHAT THE?!" she said alarmed jumping up straight away "THAT BETTER NOT BE IN MY ROOM!" she said following on behind them before doing as she was told and grabbing the training weapons. There wasn't really much but she took a small sword from it and handed the guys some weapons. "Dammit! trashing my room! that things going to pay!...It better not have broken my picture!" she said meaning one next to her bed. "All my freakin materias in my roo...if I could just get in i could reach my lightenng materia....it would weaken the ciruitry of the hoover craft...i think...or...equillay we could throw lots of water on it!" she said thinking of a plan, the last thign being a joke. "What the hell are we gunna do?..."

The machine seemed to be doing something, something that rendered its robust body still for a second longer than was perhaps safe. Zack nodded at Rand, as Siara's rant broke through the thump of the music that erupted from their dorm.
"Thanks..." He told her, grabbing what seemed to be a metal spear and swinging it around his head, as to familiarise himself with the weight and length. "I'd prefer a sword but..." He slammed the now modified materia into the one available slot on the lance and felt the cold rush of Blizzard envolope his body.
Air Buster was ready to attack, its 'eye' scanned the corridor, preparing to make the first move. It rose into the air and rocketed towards Zack's head, who managed to throw himself into the corridor just in time to avoid the attack. Bringing his fist before his face, he quickly called upon the materia in his spear and let the cold tear from his palm and blast into the robot's bust. The ice shuddered and clung to the metal, seeming to restrict the robot's movements.
"Alright, Blizzard has the power to Stun now..." Materia Fusion had its positive points. "Okay Rand, let it have it... Siara, wanna go check your room out?" Zack had to admit, he felt sorry for her. It was just as much her first day as it was their's and Zack wouldn't have appreciated a giant robot smashing HIS room up either. He leapt into the air, and span across the robot's tiny head, straining his arm back and forcing the spear down so that it fell directly onto the robot, spearing it through the chest.
Without looking to see if his attack had had any effect, he grabbed Siara by the hand and pulled her into the room.

[Rand]

Moving his head as a dagger pegged itself where his head had been he glanced at Siara incredulously. "Hey, watch where you throw stuff, there could have been something really valuable there!!!" Grinning at her, he glanced at the dagger and noticed a few strands of his hair stuck in the point where it had buried itself in the wall. Shuddering he raised his hand to his hair not finding the huge missing piece of hair he was afraid of finding he thought ~If I had been a second slower...~

Shaking his head ruefully he plucked the dagger out the wall twirling it over his hand with a flourish. "I've got some Materia in my bag!" He yelled at them as they rushed into the corridor he turned and reached his room grabbing his bag from the bed. Unzipping a side pocket he grabbed four materia from their holding places fusing them into his body; Critical Slash, High Jump, Dash, and Knock Out. Once they had fused into his armor he reached in grabbing two double casts for Zack and Siara as well as an hp up for Zack and MP up for Siara.
Raising his hand he focused his Materia and cast Dash on himself running back to the corridor in a blur plucking the dagger from the wall as he went. "Siara, Zack catch!" He yelled down the corridor throwing the four materia at them then launching the dagger at the machine using the Critical Slash materia. The dagger sliced through most of the machines armor leaving a gaping rent in the top where the blade had finally stopped 3/4 of the way across it. All of this had taken place and the Materia orbs were still in mid air as Rand rushed forward, Dash still in effect.

Siara was baout to take Zacks advice and check her room out but as she was given the materia from Rand she wasted the two she was given into her bracelet. She then made a botl to her room, staying low as she entered she the sheer carnage and feeling angrier by the second. She pulled off the pile of wreckage to reveal a locked chest. She took off her earing and placed it in the lock to open it revealing her materia. She placed her lighting one in her other sword before taking another as backup. Placing it in her small side bag on her belt she tied thebelt around her waste and made her way outside.
"Move away from it! im casting lightening!" she yelled as she charged her spell and raised her arms forward. Two bolts of lightening from the double cast shot down onto it. "It might have jamed some circuitry! kick it's ass while it's weakened!" she said hastily jumping off some nearby wreckage and throwing her sword down into what she hoped was some circuitry of value for the strange machine

"Hey, nice one Siara." Zack smiled at her as the two streaming bolts of lightening struck the machine directly in the chest and sent it reeling into the wall opposite their dormatory door. A loud crunch echoed through the corridor from where the machine struck and metal came to a unpleasnt meeting with hard nailed wood. "I think you've managed to jam its controls or something..." Bringing the spear down to his side, Zack began to chase the robot down the corridor, until he came within a meter distance, and threw himself into the air. His feet thudded against the white panel ceiling, forcing him directly back down at the staggering AirBuster.
His spear peirced the square metallic box that made up the things head, and the entire machine fell silent.
Grinning, Zack landed at Siara's side, his spear still protruding from the malfunctioning machine. "Is anything ever simple?" He asked her, and turned to watch Rand fretting over his hair loss. "Come on, you want to be lucky it didn't take your ear off, never mind your hair." He laughed, but stopped as his attention fell onto the wreckage that had once been Siara's dorm, the corridor and the smoking pile of scrap that had been trying to kill them seconds before.

The mess they had made outside was nothing to that inside Siara's dorm. The machine had done a very good job of breaking everything that it found, Zack was suprised that a number of her picture frames had survived the search. He placed a comforting arm around her and sighed. "I expect techinal services will be here soon, someone HAD to have heard that row. Hey Rand, dya think you could ring down to reception and explain what happend?"

Slowing down he took a few staggered steps kicking up a small amount of dust and debris in the process as Zack finished off the machine. "Yea your right... I probably could have lost a bit more..." Grinning he tapped his foot against the machine listening to the hollow thud it made when he tapped it. "I'm suprised we didn't wake up the whole floor from the start" He commented staring at the amount of damage and remembering the amount of noise the machine had made in it's swift attack. Grabbing his sunglasses off his face he polished a bit of dust off them as he started back to their room. "I'll give them a call, hopefully they're already on their way if not..." ~That would suck...~ He finished the sentence mentally to himself. Stepping over pieces of debris he reentered their room, walked into his turning off the music coming from his laptop and grabbing the desk phone by his bed. Dialing the reception office he got an answer almost immediatly. "'Receptionist office, how may I help you?" A female voice came over the phone. "I'm calling to report a disturbance on our floor, we also need cleaning services up here, it kinda made a mess when it attacked." "Yes we already have a cleaning staff and two Second Class Soldiers on their way up to assist." "Great thanks, you can call off the Soldiers, the threats just been dealt, just the mess that it made." "I'm sorry, they have already been dispatched and should arrive momentarily." Frowning he tsked in frustration ~This might not be good...~ "Ok, great thanks." He hung up without waiting for her to respond. Stepping back into the corridor he yelled at Zack, "The receptionist said they had a cleaning team on its way up, accompanied by two Second Class Soldier...." He let that hang in the air as he went over and stood over the machine again staring at it vaguely.

Siara looked into her room, stepping in and looking at the mess that was her belonging. She slumped onto her knees and sighed "My first day...My FIRST GOD DAM DAY!" she said punching the wall to her side leaving a lovely dent in the plastering. Although Zacks arm was comforting as she stood up she made her way over to her pictures. A few of her family had survived, a picture of Siara when she was younger hugging her baby brother. One of her parents...though a few of the frames were destroyed and the glass broken. "They better get me some new gear...al my clothes....mechanical bastard..." sighing again she decided she should calm down. Walking out she heard about the two 2nd class soldiers "Why they coming?....we already did all the hard work?...unless one of thems a tailor...." she turned to Zack and smiled "If they can't get me another room I am so taking yours!" she said jokily.

"Second Class?! Is that all?!" Zack shouted in suprise but then he suposed that First Class would have more to concern themselves with than a rouge robot. "Come to think of it, how many First Class SOLDIER's are there?" Zack had never thought of it before now, instead focusing on his hero Sephiroth.
In fact, there were a total of three First Class SOLDIERs, two of which were preparing to accompany a battalion of rookies into the front line of Wutai the following day. Both Sephiroth and Angeal had been listening to Rand's telephone call to the receptionist and as soon as the line had been hung up, they turned on their heel and began to climb the staircase towards the research floor- Level 59.

Zack had positioned himself on the end of Siara's bed, after turning it the right way up, and was now flicking through one of the books that had been strewn on the floor during the robot's search. Each dormatory had been equipped with a selection of essential SOLIDER combat guides and the likes, as well as the individual's belongings. He was alarmed when he found a page that showed an image that closely resembeled the creature they had found in the slums a few hours before. He showed the picture to Siara, startling suddenly as a knock rapped out on the door. "That'll be the SOLIDER's..." But the door was already opening, and there stood the two friendly faces that had directed them to their rooms, and taken away the specimen.
"Zack, Siara and Rand..." The youngest one smiled at them, though he seemed to be forcing it upon a hard stare of concern. "You three are to leave for Wutai immediately."
Zack gasped... "Better take that book with us Siara," he whispered.

[Rand]

Standing behind the two new Soldier's in the doorway he said. "Yea we got it, We'll head down as soon as we're done grabbing what we need." Staring briefly at the two they nodded surveying the mechanoids destruction. ~This thing did quite the number here.... And I didn't have to release my arm....~ Putting on a small smile he nudged them aside and looked down at Zack and Siara, "I'm headed to the armory to grab my weapon, my stuff's already pretty much still packed so I'll just grab it. You guys need something while I'm down there? If not I'll meet you guys in the lounge down stairs." Turning again past the two Soldiers who were busy trying to look busy he hit the elevator button before running into his room. Grabbing his duffle bag he stuffed his clothes into it as well as a spare uniform and finally is laptop and its supplies, with a small lab that he had for testing things. It was a small collection but it amounted to the same abilities as a laboratory room. ~Glad they gave me this stuff...~ Cacheing it away inside his bag he slung it over his shoulder and stepped out in time to hear the elevator. "I'll meet yea downstairs guys." He called over stepping inside.
